- drachemorder, on 04/23/2008, -1/+5This is probably jumping a bit ahead, but I have to think that after the flood, the strictly vegetarian food supply was no longer adequate to be an optimum diet for people due to some types of plants no longer existing. That would be one reason why God added meat to the menu.
Another, of course, is that He loves us and wants us to have tasty food. ;)- BibleNut, on 04/23/2008, -1/+5Excellent point! I had not thought of that! That's why I love these forums. I learn so much. Thanks for writing. Blessings to ya! :)
- lodibug3, on 04/23/2008, -1/+4Let's look at it from Paul's...which is... since inspired... God's perspective .. Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days.
- BibleNut, on 04/23/2008, -1/+3I whole heartedly agree. Sorry if I was sounding judgmental. I love meat. (A little too much) That's why my hips are too wide! :(
But I know God loves me anyways. But I can't wait for my new body. :) :) :) :)

"As a Texan who loves baroque, fried chicken and pot roast, I almost hate to say it – but God meant man to be a vegetarian. In the beginning, God gave us “. . . every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.” "
well not really if we look at genesis 1:26
"Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.""
the word livestock mean that the animals are to be used for farming or ranching. Genesis 1:29 gave us the plants to go along with the meats. biblenut's analysis of Genesis 1:26 uses the word cattle instead of livestock but still misses the point entirely.

–noun (used with a plural verb)
1. bovine animals, esp. domesticated members of the genus Bos.
2. Bible. such animals together with other domesticated quadrupeds, as horses, swine, etc.- BibleNut, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Thanks for your vote. I appreciate it! You make a good point. But in 1:26, it says that we are to have "dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
It does not say anything about eating them. And if animals and men were meat eaters, why did the animals not eat each other in the Ark. And, after Noah exited the Ark, why did God tell Noah that he could now eat the animals? And for the first time the animals were to have fear of man.
Genesis 9:1-3 states, "So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the air, on all that move on the earth, and on all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hand. Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs."
". . . EVEN AS THE GREEN HERBS." God has already given us the herbs and plants, now He is adding something to it -- the animals.
I'm very interested to read your response. You made some great points.
Thanks again. And Blessings to ya!- mikesbaker, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3well again the word cattle or livestock implies that we are eating them
