My own family left for that reason, but we're considered Russian because we grew up there during the Soviet era, speak Russian, etc.

Most, I believe, are actually from Ukraine, but they are commonly referred to as "Russian." By the way, the vast majority of the "pogroms" in the early 20th century, also happened in Ukraine, but are some how associated with Russia.

            Also, it's not really that dangerous or bad for the Jews in Russia right now. 7 or 8 or the top 10 richest men in Russia are Jews and there's a huge number of Jewish celebrities and politicians. I'm talking about people such as Roman Abramovich, Yosif Kabzon, Genady Khazanov, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, Boris Nemtsov, etc, etc. The Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev is also known as a fervent supporter of Jewish culture and causes.

You will never be able to become a chinese or japanese citizen. You will never be allowed to become a saudi citizen. India? nope. 90% of african nations? nope.

      We need treaties of reciprocity for immigration to be fair and balanced, otherwise people will become resentful.

Most of developed country citizens would never apply for citizenship up there as there is no incentive to do that. I come from Bangalore which is the Silicon Valley of India and in my time up there I met many American and European people who were working there but none wanted to apply for citizenship.

        We have many refugees/citizens from countries in Africa, Tibet etc. and never ever you will see ***** like this happening. Even if there is propaganda by Pakistan/US to get the state of Kashmir because it has more muslims, let me give you a fact - there are are Muslims in India then in Pakistan (just because our sheer population number...i.e. even if we have 20% Muslims, that is more then the whole of Pakistan.

        QFT sir! I wasn't expecting such an insightful comment on Digg. :-/ People should Digg you through the roof. You have it exactly right. When people are poor, angry, powerless and have little access to education they will flock to extremist groups because it feels like they are doing something to overcome the misery. Over time these groups turn these kids into psychopaths. And the cycle continues...

As electricity is fed to the box, first the rats try to get out, but as the pain increases the rats start attacking eachother. When they feel discomfort, without knowing the cause, they turn to blame. They accuse the first one they see.         First, you're more or less equating socialism and communism with fascism and nazism. As the video points out, the communist Soviet Union suffered the greatest death toll of all in WWII, so it's hardly fair to conflate the two ideologies.

        Second, do you realize that the extreme class gap and poverty that are fuelling the neonazi movement in Russia stem from the collapse of the Soviet Union and the *adoption* of free markets? I'm not trying to promote communism as such, but you seem to be under the impression that free markets and capitalism are a bulwark against fascism, and that's a very false sense of confidence.

The logic of many citizens was this: if it weren't for the Jews, none of their fine young men would have been killed in that horrible war.         The solution to problems caused by / related to illegal immigration is to fix the system so that there is no incentive for employers to hire someone based on their ethnicity. From all I know, Russia’s riches have not been sold to foreign powers/consortiums, but to a new Russian elite of Putin lapdogs who now sit on the wealth of the country. Just like communism, capitalism was not invented in Russia; they just seem to favor a very consequent (read: brutal) flavor of it. So a lot of the economic desperation is home-made. Stability was more important than anything to Putin, and he knows better than any other politician that his country has no experience with Western-style democracy. So he played it safe and established a new aristocracy.

The government turns the other way to keep the citizens happy when these thugs gang up on individuals, But the government also knows these immigrants are the key to Russia's recovering economy and that if they adopted stricter immigration laws it would plunge Russia back into poverty.

    Isn't it incredible how the same debate over globalization is occurring across the world right now? In America it's the Mexican immigration problem, in Europe it's the African/Arab immigration problem, and in Russia it's the Asian/Caucus immigration problem. I'm just glad in the US and Europe the governments aren't corrupt so people don't have to resort to violence.

E.g., a lot of people here in Germany whine about being unemployed (some of them in the third generation), but most of them would find it below their dignity to take the low-level jobs many immigrants have taken. There are anti-capitalist and racist comments here and there, but most of the xenophobic yokels living on welfare are at least dimply aware that the support they enjoy requires that at least some people work.
      But yes, the middle class is shrinking, and on the edges, frustration grows.

Companies have every right in terms of Capitalism, to increase profit margins. Yet Americans who love Nike, and McDonalds complain about not having work. Immigrants do the jobs that Americans will not do and can't do. I've seen this first hand in many states.

Your right about Americans shouldn't buy Nike's etc, but Nike's can be made for a lot cheaper because they use modern day slavery. Just look at Cuba, that despide opressing it's poor citizens still produces top class doctors and export them to the rest of latin america even today. This is not because the communist leaders are caring about the people, but simply because good health care is an easy way of fooling the people into believing they are being "taken care" of by the government.
