They remind me of little tiny nebulae. - KarthVader, on 12/20/2007, -10/+3I wish I had more interesting eyes. Mine are just dark dark brown. Nothing really interesting there.
- KingGorilla, on 12/20/2007, -0/+10I think one of them was used on the cover of the new edition of 1984
- bluepass, on 12/20/2007, -1/+10OMG they're all looking at me!!!

- 1randomnumber, on 12/20/2007, -0/+12Some of those have got to be put through a color filter on photoshop or something, look at eyes 10 and 11. Exactly the same, just a different color scheme.
- jamdogg, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1Just double checked and you're right. 10/10 for observation.

- Bonekhan, on 12/20/2007, -3/+13I believe one of these eyes--possibly the one pictured--was used for a reprint of Orwell's 1984.
- IntensePuppy, on 12/20/2007, -1/+11I have the book with me here and it is not the same eye, in the one on the book it is a bit more regular and symmetrical.
- BlaenkDenum, on 12/20/2007, -1/+2I have the book right next to me and none of them look like the one on the cover :(
- Syphon8, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3I have 2 different prints next to me, and neither have eyes...

- Hunkadoodle, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1What he probably means is that legally, Scheissen shouldn't steal this artist's hard work to make his/her own. With the artist's permission, great. Creative Commons license, awesome. Stealing from a talented artist to further your own craft, dishonest and selfish.
- Cubedude04, on 12/20/2007, -0/+9Yes you could.
- AQUANETA, on 12/20/2007, -6/+2No you couldnt...

Edit: Arr, damn confusing reply buttons! - Godlesswanderer, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1I have a bit of a thing about taking pictures of my eyes. Like orbingpunks eyes, they're more green in person. http://flickr.com/photos/godlesswanderer/205480132 ...
- Zephik, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1Looks like you need to do a little photoshopping in upper left quadrant of the picture... ;)
- Motodog, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1Your eye thanks you for the use of a 5,000 watt flash.
- fatfattymcfat, on 12/20/2007, -0/+0In art school, you're not allowed to take pictures of feet, old people, children, or parties. Strangely, eyes are allowed.

- Uranium118, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3I lol'd.
- styler5, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3Agreed. It'd be wicked to have a rare eye color like gray. (without contact lenses)
- wastedlife, on 12/20/2007, -5/+5That's because you haven't evolved as much.
- 1randomnumber, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3Mine seem to change, but usually they're gray.
*wins* - doronster195, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1I have the green with yellow ones with the brown dots in them. =]]
- wisammy, on 12/20/2007, -9/+3something humorously ironic here.
nerds. - marcialuvskabir, on 12/20/2007, -11/+2Yes the pictures are neat but the different pigmentation and spots reflects different body dysfunctions- such as liver problems, kidney shut down, alcoholism, diabetes etc. Just so you know :)
- jegerpenge, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1Not necessarily. Spots are typically moles considering I have some in my eyes.
- Lolleh, on 12/20/2007, -2/+3There's this science called Iridology; it's all about the iris. They believe they can tell if you have certain health problems by looking for signs of it in your iris. It's interesting, really.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iridology- Azarken, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1It's not interesting, its pseudo-science.
- agilbe10, on 12/20/2007, -0/+13after i saw this i went and looked at my eyes in the mirror

- Balk2K, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3how'd that work out for you?
- TyPhyter, on 12/20/2007, -22/+15im gonna sound gay, but ***** it:
it was like when i looked at each on of them, i could see that person, like i knew them. it was an intimate human sensation. weird- affanjam, on 12/20/2007, -3/+1Not shutting you down here...but can you describe how much you know about each one.
- TyPhyter, on 12/20/2007, -4/+1it was like we were one (here i go, sounding like a fag...again) like i was staring strait into there faces.
- Mirk83, on 12/20/2007, -1/+22I respect you being so brave and all but...

- MonkCanatella, on 12/20/2007, -1/+2It was really gay.
Not that there's anything wrong with that!
- keruha, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1That's what happens when you really look someone in the eyes. Try looking directly at the person's pupils when you talk to her next time. I mean really follow the pupils and nothing else. At first it is rather scary to hold direct eye contact, you might feel a little anxious, but later on you'll realize that this was the first time your really saw the person and connected with her.
Good read: http://www.esquire.com/features/ESQ0806INFLUENCE_8 ...- ninxmz, on 12/26/2007, -0/+1But.. I'm not allowed to talk to girls. :(
- poptones, on 12/20/2007, -3/+4The only thing that makes you seem like a "fag" is your insecurity. On a sidenote, there's nothing wrong with being a "fag".
- TyPhyter, on 12/20/2007, -2/+2i never said fag in my OP, i said i would sound "gay" sounds to me as if you have the insecurities, and i still said what i felt i needed to say, doesnt seem insecure to me at all
- addikt, on 12/20/2007, -0/+4no you were completly right
that sounded gay
- affanjam, on 12/20/2007, -3/+1Not shutting you down here...but can you describe how much you know about each one.
- netdroid9, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2I never really realised what irises actually look like before. What's with weird thick liney things? Looks freaky.
- infiniphunk, on 12/20/2007, -0/+15those are tiny muscles that open and close the iris.
- mediaspree, on 12/20/2007, -7/+1The point is, yes random "chance" validates evolution.
- pcslugster, on 12/20/2007, -3/+1Yeah, not gonna lie. Thats pretty cool.
- PakoBedejo, on 12/20/2007, -1/+19Needs a NSFW tag. The 3rd from the left is most definitely a brown-eye... Just add 6 fingers & it gets even worse...

- Zephik, on 12/20/2007, -1/+1There is over 6 billion people in the world. I'm sure that SOMEONE has those eyes, or at least very similar to them. So just pretend they're real, because they probably are when you think about it like that.
- DanJohnHarris, on 12/20/2007, -1/+2No you dumb *****. They're like fingerprints. Look at the ***** picture. Exactly the same. Die.
- Zephik, on 12/22/2007, -0/+1Your an idiot. I wasn't saying they were different, I know they are the same. A monkey could see that. The guy I replied to was talking about how it removes the legitimacy of the color, but it really doesn't. With six billion people in the world, I think its a safe guess that someone, somewhere, probably has an eye that looks just like it.
By the way, you should probably look into anger management...

- rootneg2, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1so would anyone care to explain why iris muscle is pigmented so vibrantly? I understand that the stringy pattern comes from the fact that it's muscle fiber, but why all the colors; normal muscle isn't rainbow colored...
- jcaino, on 12/20/2007, -1/+2Yes - I also wonder why the color of my eyes (and others) sometimes change with mood or what i'm wearing. i find that they can range anywhere from blue to green, with blueish hazel being the norm.
- rootneg2, on 12/20/2007, -1/+3I think that has to do more with an optical illusion caused by a change in ambient lighting conditions (especially since you mention is depends on what you're wearing). Most likely the concurrance with mood patterns is merely a coincidence, amplified by the fact that you are "aware" of the phenomenon.
A grey blob on a blue background will appear to have a slightly yellowish cast; there are several well-known optical illusions that take advantage of this effect.- jcaino, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1that's been considered, trust me. i also have brown hair on my head, black hair on my chest, with a mix of blond, red, and brown in my beard and mustache. regardless of the background or surroundings.

- vectorlord, on 12/20/2007, -0/+0Color variations among different irises are typically attributed to the melanin content within the iris stroma (wikipedia). A common theory for this attribute is a selection in evolution named sexual selection - by a trait increasing the attractiveness of an organism there is a selection based on increases in mating success.

- thekingfisher, on 12/20/2007, -4/+2So my dookie brown eyes with a green ring around them aren't included in this display. Why not? There must be other dookie colored eye pride people out there somewhere.
- tillerman00, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2You make a good point, *****.
- illegalcortex, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1I have the same coloration. Though over the years, they've shifted from mostly brown to mostly green.
Oh, and it looks like someone down in the comments posted an example of the same pattern:

- tymme, on 12/20/2007, -0/+11I've had the rather unique experience of watching the iris be created when I had my latest prosthetic made (original eye taken at birth due to cancer). Watching the optocian paint the different colors into the disc to match my natural eye was interesting. (And my sister loved the fact she got to keep the old ones for real eyes on snowmen.)
- rootneg2, on 12/20/2007, -0/+21that must have been a creepy looking snowman...
- tillerman00, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1no comment, just abrupt blood-curdling scream.
- Wynner3, on 12/20/2007, -1/+2I saw Sauron's eye. I wish my eye looked like that.
