It has not been in the pursuit of pleasure that I have periled life and reputation and reason. It has been a desperate attempt to escape from torturing memories, from a sense of insupportable loneliness and a dread of some impending doom." - Poe

It's essentially whiskey on ice. - LilRabbitFooFoo, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1By this date (summer of 1842), the love of Edgar's life, Virginia, was showing the signs of Tuberculosis for the past six months, the same illness that killed his mother as a child. I think the man was entitled to drink as much as he wanted by then.
The best screenplay I've ever read in Hollywood was the story of Edgar's life and works, called FOREVERMORE by Grant Boucher. If you EVER get a chance to read this masterpiece (very few people in Hollywood have had the chance to read it), I highly recommend it. It's the great 21st century novel in screenplay form. - inactive, on 03/06/2009, -1/+2He was a party monster. It is possible that he also suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning from a faulty heater.
