Grow up, get a sense of humor. That ad's ancient, it's only funny now because people can't fathom a world where this is acceptable.
"Feminist" bitch knee-jerk reactions like this are what made me ashamed to be a woman in the 90's. I hope we're not going to have a resurgence of that particular brand of dumb *****.

- Caerbannog, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2I vote for mescaline.
Shrooms, maybe. - JFitzpatrick, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2What was going through his mind? Easy. The advertisers were looking to capitalize on a male market base which was feeling a new and intense pressure from the women's liberation movement. Historically you wouldn't have needed an add like that because it was a given that men were dominant over women in the social sphere. After women started entering the work force and assuming more masculine roles however, it wasn't... thus you could appeal to men by advertising some product that would assert their dominance again. Wear Mr. Leggs pants and assume your proper social standing again. You get the idea.

- DeskFlyer, on 05/13/2008, -1/+25Only because you're spamming your own submission.
- dodgejon, on 05/13/2008, -10/+2In my opinion...A racial advertisement is more offensive. Of what value is it to promote my own submission? I shared my submission because it was relevant to the topic...
- DeskFlyer, on 05/13/2008, -1/+25Only because you're spamming your own submission.
- Grahamcracker, on 05/13/2008, -6/+66What's written underneath is almost as creepy:

- Nhmarine, on 05/13/2008, -7/+19Good commercial: They remembered that women are only posessions.
Sigh... don't you miss the good ol' sixties?- HoratioHellpop, on 05/13/2008, -7/+5//don't you miss the good ol' sixties?// Right, because the pr0n industry and FHM, Maxim, etc. don't view women like that at all. It's so much better now.
- Nhmarine, on 05/13/2008, -0/+4Well, at least those women are able to choose the proffession they perform best in... even though... yeah, I get your point.... SIGH..... =[
- mem2, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1//Is it cool to quote like t his ?// Hora your a tool mate.

"Right, because the pr0n industry and FHM, Maxim, etc. don't view women like that at all. It's so much better now."
Let's see:
* Women in many high-paying important jobs. Check.
* Women having a viable chance at election to high office. Check.
* Women often given extra consideration to manage both a career and a family. Check.
* Numerous other things that treat women definitely f*cking better than their mothers and grandmothers. Check, check, check...
* All sorts of stuff that could be improved... plenty of that to be had, but it is, overall, trending upward.
Maybe it's not everything the feminist movement wants/wanted. But to argue that things now aren't better off than what was depicted in the ad just makes you sound like a whiner.- Nhmarine, on 05/14/2008, -3/+4I wasn't whining, idiot, I was commenting about how there is an upward trend by comparing it to the sixties.... get off digg and stop being a dumbass.
- akh4x0r, on 05/14/2008, -2/+3Well, if you're so smart, you would have noticed the "@HoratioHellpop entered into sarcastic orgasm:" and the fact he didn't reply to YOU.
- swizzcheez, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1@Nhmarine:
Well, I wasn't talking about you until you completely missed the fact that the reply was @HoratioHellpop.
Whiner. :P - HoratioHellpop, on 05/14/2008, -1/+0@everybody, especially swizzcheez: If you honestly think there are *LESS* media available that degrade women today than there was in the sixties, you're a complete, utter, and total *****.
- Nhmarine, on 05/14/2008, -3/+4I wasn't whining, idiot, I was commenting about how there is an upward trend by comparing it to the sixties.... get off digg and stop being a dumbass.

- la7crosse11, on 05/13/2008, -1/+3I think they make women's hosiery now...looks like the tables have turned for that company
- evilrobot, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2um... they made womens hosiery THEN... that's where their name came from; and why the pants are called "Mr. Leggs" - Leggs was stepping up (aggressively) and trying to sell to men.
- MightyLime, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2Enjoy your life of servitude.

- b0gus2008, on 05/14/2008, -0/+3Wow, I had no idea Obama is practicing Sharia Law and plans to change the entire judicial system in America after he is elected. News travels very slow up north, either that or OffPiste is a jackass. I'm having trouble deciding which...

- kayala, on 05/13/2008, -1/+9Right on, misogyny!
- huggybarrel, on 05/13/2008, -15/+8For Abdel-Qader Ali there is only one regret: that he did not kill his daughter at birth. 'If I had realised then what she would become, I would have killed her the instant her mother delivered her,' he said with no trace of remorse. Abdel-Qader, 46, a government employee, was initially arrested but released after two hours. Astonishingly, he said, police congratulated him on what he had done. 'They are men and know what honour is,' he said.
What did she do? She had a teenage crush on a British soldier.
It was her first youthful infatuation and it would be her last. She died on 16 March after her father discovered she had been seen in public talking to Paul, considered to be the enemy, the invader and a Christian. Though her horrified mother, Leila Hussein, called Rand's two brothers, Hassan, 23, and Haydar, 21, to restrain Abdel-Qader as he choked her with his foot on her throat, they joined in. Her shrouded corpse was then tossed into a makeshift grave without ceremony as her uncles spat on it in disgust.
Have the times really changed that much?- radsprack, on 05/13/2008, -1/+4I guess they have. I don't think he would have ever been arrested in olden days.
- jkaechler, on 05/13/2008, -2/+7Why do you feel the need to insert that here? Everyone else is cheerfully making fun of a stupid sixties ad, and you have to toss in some crappy commentary on how bad the world sucks.
Let us have our carefree stupidity and leave that stuff out! - Zyphron, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1Time and a place for everything my friend...The medium and the method through which you attempt to get your message across is almost as important as the message itself. (assuming you actually want to be effective)
- gryphon50, on 05/13/2008, -8/+5these comments illustrate while diggers are lonely overweight men who only have their hand for company. Sometimes I worry that people here mistreat women but then I realize that it is completely theoretical on their part.
- Kenzan, on 05/13/2008, -2/+4Oh, the irony.
- the999, on 05/14/2008, -2/+4shaddap and make me a sammich
- ShempRider, on 05/13/2008, -1/+5I don't care how much they "macho'd" up the ad, I wouldn't have bought pants made by the same company that primarily makes pantyhose.
Unless of course they came with a chick rug. - acliffhang3r, on 05/13/2008, -2/+2Nice pants!
- ichunxo, on 05/13/2008, -3/+1I'd hit it. But then there would be a black eye on that rug, and why ruin a perfectly good rug?
