- diggan8, on 06/10/2009, -0/+20Thank you Crayola, for printing the color names on the sides of crayons/markers/pencils/ect... I'm colorblind, and you spared me the embarrassment of coloring my water purple and my grass brown.
- evanfrey, on 06/10/2009, -0/+15orange always tasted best.
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -1/+15I always wanted the box with the crayon sharpener, but my parents were never nice enough. I usually just got the 8 or 16 pack.
Also, once and for all "Kray-yawn" not "Krown" - chopeh, on 06/10/2009, -0/+11Who the hell says "Krown"?
- Netsloth, on 06/10/2009, -0/+9Seeing the box from my childhood (80's) makes me wish I could go back. I can vividly remember sitting at the big round tables in elementary school coloring. Remember what it smelled like and what it felt like to have nothing to worry about but how long until recess and what might be for lunch?
No matter what, I'll never be as happy as I was in that moment. That's sad. - mwtapp, on 10/11/2009, -0/+9I like the old school designs the best.
- trunks7, on 06/10/2009, -0/+9crayon sharpener = awesomeness!
- dagr8tim, on 06/10/2009, -0/+9Built in metal sharpener. The plastic ones suck.
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -0/+8Remember the crayon color "Flesh"?
- Flare, on 06/10/2009, -0/+7Sam Kingston approves this article.
http://www.brokencool.com/.a/6a010536846743970c011 ... - inactive, on 06/10/2009, -0/+6Over a hundred years of artwork screwed up due to the white crayon getting lil' bits of other crayons rubbed into it.
***** you, white crayon. - Macgyrl64, on 06/10/2009, -0/+6Ah the smell of melting Crayola crayons. Perhaps you remember, the old schools with the exposed heating pipes that ran along the outer wall of the class room. Either you burned your arm sitting too close (because there were always tables there to do extra work). Or the boy who pulled the girl's hair or clapped the chalkboard erasers in the classroom was relegated to the corner where he amused himself by melting the smaller nibs of crayons on the pipes. Come winter the rooms always smelled of crayons which welcomed the first snow. Memories!!!
- m1nist3r, on 06/10/2009, -0/+6Eat a box. ***** a rainbow!
- LacY, on 06/10/2009, -1/+7I'm from the south and most definitely say "Kray-yawn", as do all the people I grew up with.
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -0/+664 Color Crayola was the holy grail of crayons as a kid.
- chadsmith729, on 06/10/2009, -0/+5I decided you should never have kids.
- borez, on 06/10/2009, -2/+6Yes interesting... in a looking at crayon boxes kind of way.
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -0/+4Embarrassed to know his real name but don't you mean Sean Kingston?
- smackydoodle, on 06/10/2009, -0/+4The feeling I got when I saw the sharpener on my crayon box as a kiddo was the feeling I had when I first used a computer.
- Tenareth, on 06/10/2009, -0/+4Only if you ate crayons...
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -1/+4Maybe he's just a happy, well adjusted adult remembering days from his youth. Not all of us are bitter trolls.
- rogueblade, on 06/10/2009, -1/+4100+ years of children ingesting wax
- JinxCrow, on 06/10/2009, -0/+3Wow. I remember my big box of crayons, everyone saw I loved to draw and just showered me in crayola stuff. It's funny, I've gone to crayons, to pencils, to pens, to mouse/MSPaint to working in Photoshop CS3 with a tablet. But I still remember how the crayon box smelled when first opened, and having hours of fun writing on the apartment walls. (And mom had hours of fun repainting them, this was before the brilliant writable/washable kids room paint of today)
Nice retrospect. - hotdogday, on 06/10/2009, -0/+3love the old school designs
- GeekNurse, on 06/10/2009, -0/+3Did anyone else hate cornflower blue? You had to press crazy hard for it to even make a mark on the paper.
- jfreeman, on 06/10/2009, -0/+2Cray-on or Cran? Discuss.
- Aynatix, on 06/10/2009, -0/+2Try Cocaine.
- binnis, on 06/10/2009, -0/+2In third grade I had a box of florescent crayons. Our homework one evening was to draw a picture and color it. I had the best drawing in the class. It was a picture of a man on the moon holding the American flag. Yeah I got a bunch of Ooooos and Ahhhhs out of it.
The teacher then proceeded to display all of our work in the front of the class on a display board. My picture was at the top.
Then a few months later, the wench threw them all in the trash.
*Sigh*...I miss third grade. - jfreeman, on 06/10/2009, -0/+2Crayola doesn't record their own history?
- onederboy, on 06/10/2009, -2/+4When you saw the sharpener on your crayon box you thought "I can't wait to use this thing for porn"??
- ladysherwood, on 06/10/2009, -0/+2people will make a list of just about anything these days. I love the internets.
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -0/+2I'm more impressed by kids who color a green tree blue instead of coloring outside the lines
- diggdatt, on 06/10/2009, -0/+2I always had the 8 or 16 color pack. I always wished to have that 64 color pack, but I usually just mixed colors or used some color to get the job done.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 06/10/2009, -0/+2Maybe they're color blind.
- level32, on 06/10/2009, -0/+2Ralph: I don't have a red crayon.
Miss Hoover: Why not.
Ralph: I ate it. - inactive, on 06/10/2009, -0/+2Just when I always thought Crayolas were crappy for serious art this guy does some amazing stuff with them
http://www.spacetaker.org/gallery/?gallery_id=281 - kiwimonk, on 06/10/2009, -0/+1Look at all those colors! Its like LSD for children!
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -0/+1Schizo kids would eat the crayon or throw it at the teacher
Kids who think outside the box would color the tree different, sometimes too much logic restricts free thought. I'd trust this kid more to design the next iPod than the one who followed the lines and colored it perfectly. - EddiE314, on 06/10/2009, -0/+1I've heard 'kran' before, but not 'krown'.
- NovaPrime9, on 06/10/2009, -0/+1I have three children. My 2nd was drawing, and well, at just over two years. The oldest took a little longer, I think he was a bit older than three when he really took off with drawing. The youngest is only 15 months, not really of the age to do more than scribble.
They have some coloring books, but for the sake of creativity those are greatly limited. They have far more blank paper than coloring books.
Any other questions, wise-ass? - commasplices, on 06/11/2009, -0/+1Who needs cornflower blue when you have cerulean?
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -0/+1I'm still waiting for a top-10 drill bit sizes list.
- NovaPrime9, on 06/11/2009, -0/+1Yeah... those poor kids that I bend over backward for. Someone call child welfare! ;)
My comment was simply that there is a lot of research that shows that the old "stay in the lines" mentality prohibits creativity. My reaction was to the comment that I must not have children. I don't think I was out of line in the least in explaining that I do, in fact, have children. Three very awesome and happy children at that (I'm sure you'll be relieved to know...). - kaosethema, on 06/10/2009, -0/+1@nova
you jump out and generally insult coloring-book-parents as short-sighted
and then, you're insulted when someone questions your ability to raise children
you can dish it out but you can't take it. i feel sorry for your three children. - inactive, on 06/10/2009, -0/+1I always thought they smelled like puke.
- adamroach, on 06/10/2009, -0/+1Wait...you mean you're not supposed to eat the crayons?
