- Acharya2007, on 04/24/2009, -0/+4Thanks for the Digg on my vid. I hope others will follow suit.
- Acharya2007, on 04/25/2009, -0/+3Thank you for reading my book! Well, you may be able to tell that it was extremely difficult to put it all together - so that's one reason. As I also explain in the book itself, particularly in the "Introduction" and "Conclusion," people have been horribly persecuted for revealing this truth. If you could see what is slung my way on a daily basis - the viciousness, lies, libel, slander, character assassination, defamation and hate speech - you would understand why so few people are willing to step up to the plate, if they are even able to. It takes a great deal of education in a variety of disciplines, and without language skills, it would be pretty much impossible to create a comprehensive work of this magnitude.
- billyb8, on 04/25/2009, -0/+3I have been reading this book and have wondered why nobody else ever tried to educate the world on how mytholgical all religion is.
- mgketteridge, on 04/25/2009, -0/+3The book Christ in Egypt should be read by everyone who has wondered about truth about the origins of the Christian myth It will open their eyes and enable them to see just like the boy in the crowd who realised that the emperor had no clothes. It strips away the layers of paint that have accumulated over thousands of years of rewriting history to suit the political power elite down the ages.
This book is a must read that will become a classic . - thegoodzone2, on 04/25/2009, -0/+3I only wish I'd learned this stuff when I was 18, instead of at 38. My life would have turned out a lot different!
- thegoodzone2, on 04/25/2009, -0/+3This is the only one of Acharya S.'s book I don't own, and I'll be ordering it next paycheck. For 20 years I was a fundamentalist Christian, but 5 years ago I decided I had to face my doubts about a lot of things in the Bible I couldn't defend, understand, or explain, and began reading the standard "skeptic's literature". It answered a few questions, but I still had a bunch. Then I stumbled on to Acharya's book Christ Conspiracy: The Greatest Story Ever Sold, and it was a real eye opener. I also have Suns of God, and Fingerprints of the Christ. Every Christian in America should read all of her works, and everyone reading this should do what I did last week - go to her Truth Be Known Blog, and give her a donation by PayPal for her years of research, hard work, and courage.
- astrotheology, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2One of the reasons this information seems to be "new" or why there has not been a lot written about it in the past is mainly Roman Catholic Church. Up to as recently as just over 100 years ago people were being put to death for heresy....The reason the protestants never took it up was because protestantism is merely a rehashed Roman Catholicism anyways.....the whole idea of a "historical Jesus" is critical to their belief system. The problem with this is, for an evangelical christian to even give any of this the least bit of consideration has hell as a dismal reward for that way of thinking....So you see there is a bit of a problem for the believer....an eternally "hot" one I might add.....Until the mind can be completely free from any condemnation can one be free to think as one would for themselves....The paradox is that the christian will tell you they are "free" however, they are more "bound' than any other thought process out there....I speak an an inside particpant, not an outside observer. (I have been freed from Evangelical Born againism)
BTW, Acharya S is an incredible resource for this kind of info. She has very careful and thorough scholarship invested in her works....i am impressed to say the least.... - TT0691, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2All Acharya's books are worthwhile. She also helped consult on Zeitgeist part 1 which brought me to her work on this important subject.
- ProfessorJAK, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2I teach comparative religion at a community college in Illinois. I have made this text mandatory. It is about time people work up to the brainwashing organized religion has had on them. Thanks Acharia or DM this book is awesome.
- jasonodwyer, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2Just got Acharya's book Christ in Egypt and looking forward to reading it.
Thank you Acharya for doing this unpleasant but necessary job of educating people! - Brentoneccles, on 04/26/2009, -0/+2Happy to digg this. :D
- Thunderr, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1This book will definitely go down in religious human history as one of the greatest ever written...thank you for making available and sharing your "labor of love" with us Acharya.
S.G. aka Thunder™ - host of Truth or Fiction™ on BlogTalkRadio. - cardw, on 04/26/2009, -0/+1If anyone takes the time to really understand this book and looks at the evidence presented in this excellent book, setting aside their pre-conceived ideas about Christianity, it becomes quite evident that Christianity was not a sudden revolution, but an evolution of already existing thought, systematically rewritten through violence, fear, religious ego, and empire building, not spiritual insight and awakening.
This book has really helped to bring into focus a life long escape from the fearful world view taught to me by Christianity. Its going to take a lot of dissembling to "refute" the evidence in this book. I plan to review this book on my blog. I have already posted the introduction.
http://whatisspiritual.blogspot.com/2009/04/death- ... - AM53, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1Bonjour Acharya,
I met you on the Zeitgeist FB and now spontanously opened a digg account to vote :)
Thanks for all your publications! Bravos for the good work! - daedle, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1I have all of Acharya's books and just received this, her latest. It is about time someone is telling the truth. I was "born and raised" Christian, but I have, thanks to brave souls like Acharya, come to understand that we have been taught myths by religion to keep us in line and under the power and control of the "church".
- Brentoneccles, on 04/26/2009, -0/+1Digg these: http://digg.com/educational/The_Zeitgeist_Movement ...
http://digg.com/environment/The_Venus_Project_A_pe ... - Chopper22, on 04/26/2009, -0/+1The book "Christ in Egypt" is fantastic as the video shows. I really liked the Mythicist Position on page 12. It takes us far beyond the endless theist vs. atheist debate. Acharya should be on Oprah, Larry King, National Geographic etc. I'd love to see a wonderfully done DVD of her work. People are starving for more as the 100 MILLION views of the Zeitgeist movies demonstrate. This book is the perfect response to all of the anti-Zeitgeist part 1/anti-Acharya cult nonsense.
I'd love for her work to be taught in comparative religion courses. I wish I would've had access to her work when I was a kid. That's fantastic what "ProfessorJAK" said above:
"I teach comparative religion at a community college in Illinois. I have made this text mandatory."
I'd love to see more of that!!!!!!!!
Acharya deserves an award for her hard work and courage for all that she has to endure for putting it out there. She really is the Galileo of our day! - lukewonderly, on 04/26/2009, -0/+1Thank you . . .
Thank you for the many years, and dedication you have given to this work . . .
Thank you for the fierce determination - despite the criticism, abuse and threats - you have endured . . .
and thank you - for sharing this work - with all of us.
I am very grateful and appreciative of your efforts, and acknowledge you tremendous contribution.
Thank you. - Emasoft, on 05/05/2009, -0/+1
SuperShlomo, it's clear that you didn't read the book. Those are criticism rised against the previous books of acharya, and are all addressed in the last one. - truthman22, on 04/26/2009, -0/+1I purchased Archarya's book "Who Was Jesus (Fingerprints Of The Christ)" and was greatly impressed. My only minor criticism was that it was not a bigger book. I ordered her new book and it is considerably larger. I am looking forward to reading the entire book on my vacation in May when I have the time to put my whole attention in it. She writes so well that I know that once I begin I won't want to stop. I read two versions (King James and "modern" version) of the bible at the same time 25 years ago and I was disgusted with the violence and savagry that it glorified. To believe that a Jewish God who lives in the mountains and sky in Israel created a massive universe is insane. I am a seeker and lover of truth. Archarya (D.M. Murdock) is one of the few humans worthy of respect and is a true friend of the human race. I highly recommend all her books and her Truthbeknown website.
- Chopper22, on 04/27/2009, -0/+1This trash from SuperShlomo is several years old & has been addressed many times already. "Christ in Egypt" XIE provides all the primary sources to make a solid case - SuperShlomo has clearly just spreading copy/paste trash from people who haven't a clue what they're talking about. Those who have actually read CIE know how badly SuperShlomo has just embarrassed himself & put his foot in his mouth.
- Woyro, on 04/26/2009, -0/+1Acharya's work is important and needs to be spread to as many people as possible.
- mchlt, on 04/26/2009, -0/+1Acharya, thanks once again for you ongoing work. I just bought "christ in Egypt" along with "Who was Jesus" and, while I have been at my own work uncovering truth for years, it is wonderful to have such an extensive and apparently scholarly compilation (I have not read it yet). I will surely reference it and challenge my "Jews for Jesus" brother to read yet another book. He, like most of his type, still will not commit to fully reading their own texts critically.
Thanks again! Love your work! Hope your health has improved. Healing energy and strength to you with every thought. - ProfessorJAK, on 04/27/2009, -0/+1We have to get Acharya's word out there. To quote Bill Maher from Religulous "Religion must die in order for humanity to live" Acharya's work is scholarly writings that need to be heard. Chopper22 is right but the talk shows would never let her on, Religion is control and the people in control do not want to relinquish it.
- andyabreu, on 04/26/2009, -0/+1One of the most astonishing facts of Acharyas's research is that all her statements are properly substantiated. What she uncovered should be part of teaching at all schools. This is not a matter of religion or belief but a matter of knowing the truth. I admire her courage and consistent on revealing that Jesus Christ is the longest, cruel, and largest conspiracy ever known in human kind.

- biologicalMe, on 04/25/2009, -0/+0Watched the video and I a going to buy the book. But I also want to find the evidence for myself.
So does the book tell me where I have to travel to find the source?
Enjoying things do far. - andyabreu, on 04/26/2009, -0/+0One of the most astonishing facts of Acharyas's research is that all her statements are properly substantiated. - paulokeefe1000, on 08/26/2009, -0/+0I think the parallels between Horus & Jesus are def connected but this doesn't make the History of the Jews false. Just because the "deceiver", whether an outside evil manipulative force or just a manifestation in our own minds, is working to discredit the truth, doesn't change the history supported by science and archaelogy, of the Ancient Israelite Kings. King David & his son King Solomon were talked about extensively in the Bible....both good light and bad light were shined on both of them. History supports their reigns and discrediting Jesus, which I believe to be extremely hard.....doesn't discredit Judaism (pagan origin) or christianity, which came from it. I think it's funny how the failures, most notably by intellegent men, is their of lack of spirituality not knowledge. How can a smart individual understand the divine, when they can't even understand their own spirituality, lol. It's time for people to unite against evil and stop letting religion cloud the truth. Bottom line is that God exists and he is trying to speak to us. He most likely manifests himself to individuals in different ways and the true people, which prove to be the faithful, are the ones that God uses the most. Lets not discredit every prophet that every lived just for the sake of parallels. When Christianity hit the ground and began to run with its message, man manipulated the message and they continue to use it to exploit mankind & social practices. However, the truth is better achieved by attempting to form a relationship with God, through faith & love. Of course in the affluent society we live in, people have completely forgotten their true nature. God created us without sin to live forever, to shine his holy light through us unto the world, so that love can conquer evil & injustice...even if you don't want to believe this, it doesn't change the fact that men can't stand the unknown and that is why we all seek for knowledge into the divine (afterife). God Bless
- Chopper22, on 04/28/2009, -0/+0Actually, The Book of the Dead, Pyramid Texts, Coffin Texts etc are quite fascinating when you know what they're really talking about and "Christ in Egypt" helps with that tremendously. The BotD is a small portion of Egyptian texts.
Billions of Christians have celebrated Jesus' birthday on Dec 25th as that date was selected by Christians themselves. We all know the bible glossed over the dates of his birth & death & many other things. If that wasn't Jesus' BD then why do billions celebrate all of those Christmas nativity scenes of Jesus born in a manger at that time? I mean it's absurd to attempt to ignore all of that.
Nobody needs to fabricate any correlations as "Christ in Egypt" demonstrates with a large number of scholars. It may be wise to actually read the book *BEFORE* commenting. http://www.stellarhousepublishing.com/christinegyp ... - Timshol, on 04/25/2009, -1/+1A REAL response to me from a christian theologian about the information in this book :
"You aren't trying to save my soul. You're being an annoying little twit that got one book that claims to have gotten all her information from a bunch of different sources. What you aren't realizing is that she may claim she got that information from her sources, but what she got was part of the information from those sources, and the actual meat is her opinion derived from other sources that are completely false."
Buy this book and you can decide for yourself. - sjzst4, on 04/28/2009, -0/+0First of all, there were several other days that Jesus's birthday was celebrated before people chose December 25. This day was simply chosen because nobody has any clue as to when he was actually born. Christ in Egypt may have a large number of scholars that supports this but there are also several scholars who disagree. I apologize for using the term fabricated. That wasn't really fair. I believe that this disagreement on what the Book of the Dead actually says stems from different interpretations of it. Many different people read the bible or any other religious text have interpret them differently. I think this could very well happen here. I personally do not believe everything that the bible says but the number of scholars who disagree with thus book as well as all of the other works that say the same thing that came before Christ in Egypt means I'm not sure that I can make an educated decision either way so I am going to give the refuting scholars the benefit of the doubt (for now) because of how relatively new this idea is.
- Chopper22, on 04/27/2009, -0/+0Aside from Acharya's response being linked at the very top to Carrier's Luxor at frontline-apologetics - Here's the link to a brief excerpt demonstrating Carrier's egregious and sloppy errors. Obviously, there are more details in the book - http://www.stellarhousepublishing.com/luxor.html
Here are some book details for "Christ in Egypt: The Horus-Jesus Connection" - http://www.stellarhousepublishing.com/christinegyp ...
Acharya's forum - http://forums.truthbeknown.com/index.php - sjzst4, on 04/28/2009, -1/+0Has anyone here actually taken a look at the Book of the Dead. Well i have and let me warn nay who want to its extremely boring. There are definitely some correlations between Jesus and Horus but only to a certain extent. Not only is it impossible to know if Osiris was born on December 25 but any intelligent Christian would tell you that nobody actually claims Jesus was born on that day. Not only have I gathered that most of these correlations have been fabricated from my readings, but several scholars agree that many of these are false.
- inactive, on 04/27/2009, -4/+2Lies. Buried as inaccurate.
Claim #1-Horus and Jesus are born from a virgin.
Horus’s mother is Isis. Isis was married to Osiris. We do not know for what length of time, but presumably the marriage was consummated. Whether it was or wasn’t doesn’t matter though. After Osiris is killed, Isis puts him back together again (he was hacked into 14 pieces) except for his penis which was tossed in a river or a lake. Iris fashions a substitute penis for him, humps him and here comes Horus. There is nothing virginal about that.
Claim #2-Both Horus and Jesus were born to a Mary and Joseph. (Seb)
As noted Isis is Horus’s mother’s name not Mary. In addition, Seb is not Horus’s father, Osiris is. Seb is Osiris’s father. Further, Seb is a distinct name from Joseph. Putting them side by side does not make them synonyms, and that appears to be what was done here.
Claim #3-Both were born of royal descent.
This is accurate.
Claim #4-Both births were announced by angels and witnessed by shepherds.
I can find nothing that mentions that the birth of Horus was announced by an angel or witnessed by shepherds. I have found that Horus was born in a swamp, which is a pretty unlikely place for shepherds. In addition Acharya mentions that Horus was born in a cave. Massey makes no mention of this, although he does represent that Mithra was born in a cave.
Claim #5-Both were heralded by stars and angels.
There is no star that heralded Horus’s birth nor is there any angel announcing it. Archarya in a footnote in The Origins of Christianity indicates that that there are three stars named the three kings in Orion and then relates this to the birth of Jesus. When we look to the stories regarding Horus, we find no star or angel announcing his birth. To the extent that Acharya S relies upon Massey and Massey relies upon what is depicted in the panels at Luxor see (from an atheist) further regarding virgin birth and pronouncement by angels http://www.frontline-apologetics.com/carrier_luxor ...
Claim #6-Both had later visitors (Horus-3 deities and Jesus-3 wisemen.)
There is no indication that there ever were 3 wisemen. The bible never mentions the number of wisemen, nor is there any document that reflects 3 deities at the birth of Horus. See the website referenced in Claim #5.
Claim #7-Both had murder plots against them.
There is mention that Seth did want to kill Horus, and Herod wanted to kill Jesus. so this is accurate.
Claim#8-Both came of age at 12, were baptized and their baptizers were executed.
There is no indication that Horus was preaching in a temple when he was 12. In fact, Massey indicates that Hours the child was depicted as a “weakling.” That doesn’t jive with story of Jesus preaching in the temple. Again this appears to have been a confabulation from Acharya and repeated by others.
Horus was never baptized in any of the Horus stories. In addition, Acharya mentions that John the Baptist is actually Anup the Baptizer. This individual is never mentioned anywhere in any Horus account. There is not even a footnote in Archaya’s on-line work The Origins of Christianity to support this. There is nothing.
Claim #9-Both had 12 disciples.
According to the Horus accounts, Horus had four semi-gods that were followers. There is some indication of 16 human followers and an unknown number of blacksmiths that went into battle with him. Horus did not have 12 disciples. Jesus reportedly did. Acharya failed to give a footnote to support this.
Massey points to a mural in the Book of Hades in which there are twelve reapers. Horus is not present in this scene. For Massey to make this connection he goes to a different scene within the same mural. In this scene there is a picture of a god whose name is the Master of Joy. Horus is never depicted although in other murals the artists do depict Horus. Had the artists ascribed 12 reapers in any relation to Horus all they had to do was put Horus at the scene. They did not.
Claim #10-Both walked on water.
Horus didn’t, or at least there is no record that I can find that he did. Massey does not maintain that Hours did. Massey uses wild conjecture to connect the story of fish man, Oannes, not Horus, to Jesus. Oannes came out of the sea during the day, and went back into the sea at night. Massey makes the two analogous because by his calculations, Jesus walked on water during the day.
As to Acharya, she as usual provides nothing to substantiate this.
Claim #11-Both performed miracles.
This is true although the miracles were different in scope and nature.
Claim #12 Both exorcised demons and raised Lazarus.
The actual claim is that Horus raised Osiris from the dead and that the name Osiris morphed to Lazarus. It doesn’t matter because Horus did not bring Osiris back to life. There is no mention of this in any document regarding the story. Horus did avenge Osiris’s death, but that did not raise Osiris from the dead.
Claim #13-Both held a Sermon on the Mount; both were transfigured on a mountain, died by crucifixion along with two thieves and were buried in tombs where they paid a quick visit to Hell and then rose from the dead after 3 days time, both resurrections were witness by women, and both will supposedly reign for 1,000 years in the Millennium.
These are the most damning claims if they were proven true in my opinion. Yet, I can locate none of this. No sermon, no transfiguration, certainly no crucifixion w/ two thieves, no trip to hell and no resurrection. There was an incident in which Horus was torn to pieces and Iris requested the crocodile god to fish him out of the water he was tossed into, which was done, but that’s it. I am at a loss to refute this because I can not find anything to support it.
Massey does compares a story about the Autumn Equinox related to Osiris, not Horus, as the symbolic crucifixion. There is no indication that Horus is involved in any way. There is no mention by Massey of any Sermon on the Mount. No mention or any actual crucifixion, no two thieves, no burial in a tomb. Massey does not maintain that anything of the sort occurred with Horus.
In short, of the claims outlined in this entry, I find the comparison between Horus and Jesus to consist of the following: they were of royal descent, they allegedly worked miracles and there were murder plots against them.
