- yongke, on 02/22/2008, -0/+3LOL, I was thinking exactly the same thing! But I see you are still getting dugg down though, so it's still pretty normal.
- davidkeithjones, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2Good to see that the paramilitary moved in before anything joyous happened.
- jeo77, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1Maybe we're looking at different pictures, but the people there still seemed to be enjoying themselves..
- inigomntoya, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1You always have to wonder when the Chinese military is ever involved...
- desmonde, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1the silken fist of social conformity is wielded by confucius, not the ccp. people love the wujing because they have such nice uniforms and everybody admires a nice uniform.

- mal1964, on 02/22/2008, -2/+1Sorry, i tried to make some people think for a second.
AOL and Legend are considering the addition of other partners, possibly one or both of China's two big fixed-line telephone companies to the venture.
A trial of the service, known in Chinese as "Flying Dragon", launched last summer and has been successfully completed.

- mal1964, on 02/22/2008, -6/+1Let's look it for a non-government, non-religious celebration. We need more of these.
- desmonde, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1lantern displays have origins in taoist, buddhist, and pantheistic legends, which may or may not be religious.

Seems Asia has a fascination for lanterns. Equally fantastic pictures from India. http://amitkulkarni.info/pics/diwali-2007/
Seems to be like their biggest festivals. - Dipster, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2I've been to Nanjing, and Confucious' temple. It's beautiful there, even when not in festival season. :)
- desmonde, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1lanterns, fireworks, mirrors, and glittery stuff in general are essential to disperse bad spirits and evil omens, which are fortunately somewhat gullible and skittish themselves. and they appear all the more wondrous and enlivening set against stark cityscapes and scorched fields.
- ggping64, on 02/23/2008, -0/+010,000 cds? what a waste of cds, they should have used hd-dvds instead.

- ninthyear, on 02/24/2008, -0/+0Actually in the Lantern Festival every single will take a kind of lanterns to the garden party. maybe a butterfly lantern, a swallow lantern,or something else. When you meet the person who take the lantern as same as you. you and that person will be a couple...
- lovecups, on 02/24/2008, -0/+1I loved this...especially the kid in the bike basket with the cotton candy bigger than his head!! ...sigh...those were the days. Really beautiful pics.
