- QuakerOatMan, on 02/11/2009, -1/+13If by commit suicide you mean shot in the head by John Wilkes Booth, then yes.
- Commonwealth, on 02/11/2009, -1/+11Ah, taking the controversial anti-Lincoln stance I see.
- pushforpeace, on 02/11/2009, -3/+12Great president or greatest president?
- Autrix, on 02/11/2009, -0/+8"I just want to be original."
You didn't really read the job description for "impersonator" did you? - P1um, on 02/11/2009, -1/+7I made friends with a Lincoln impersonator at Mt. Rushmore. That would be a sweet job.
- chaseonfire, on 02/11/2009, -0/+6I found the voice pretty annoying, I always imagined Lincoln with a deep and profound kind of voice, not Screech.
- pitchblack16, on 02/10/2009, -2/+8How is this spam?
- P1um, on 02/11/2009, -0/+6well, I did smoke out before hand.
- RansomHoldiay, on 02/11/2009, -1/+6dude... it's a rock, not an impersonator...
- inactive, on 02/11/2009, -1/+6Holy *****, I just realized how not dumb I really am.
- AmyVernon, on 02/10/2009, -2/+6@bradspangler - This is the second time I've seen you write this comment, and I still have no idea what you mean. I'm just curious.
- dojocasino, on 02/11/2009, -0/+4He's not as good as the Lincoln in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure :(
- persephoneia, on 02/11/2009, -1/+5...wow. I have no words.
- chaseonfire, on 02/11/2009, -1/+4I have one, douche.
- Aethirig, on 02/11/2009, -0/+3I'm reading his biography at the moment. It describes his voice as surprisingly high-pitched, but it became deeper and more resonant as the speech he was giving went on.
- RansomHoldiay, on 02/11/2009, -1/+4take the opinion of lincoln out of it, who exactly are the lincoln-tards?
- mervis, on 02/11/2009, -1/+4Why isn't this being voted up? Andrew Jackson FTW!
- Jordan117, on 02/11/2009, -0/+3I was pretty non-plussed when I first read that Lincoln had a twangy, nasally voice. I think it's the documentaries that do it -- most of the stuff on the History Channel and stuff like that insist on reading his words in a deep, booming tone. But hey, if that's how the man talked, that's the way it should be presented.
(It's also at least one category in which Obama clearly trumps his hero.) - Discobassplayer, on 02/11/2009, -0/+2Haha this isn't youtube, save that copy paste ***** for yourself. You can clearly see what you are getting into.
- slickmick, on 02/11/2009, -2/+4Suspender of habeas corpus, killer of hundreds of thousands -- and he didn't do it to end slavery. If you read him, you'll see that he wanted to send all American blacks back to Africa.
Don't believe the pablum they teach you in elementary school history books. - LincolnSmash, on 02/11/2009, -1/+3I don't. I've studied US history extensively, especially the civil war and reconstruction. I know he wasn't perfect.
But
a) He had to deal with a friggin' civil war, habeas corpus can be legally suspended in times of national emergency, and I'm pretty sure civil war counts as a national emergency.
and
b) Sending American blacks back to Africa was an idea quite a few abolitionists held. You'll find few people back then saw them as equals, even among opponents to slavery.
Looking back, yeah, a lot of politicians and presidents were racist as hell, but you can't blame Abe for not thinking with a 21st century mind when he lived in the 19th century. These were complex problems that no one had a clear-cut answer to. If we judged everyone in the past by the way we think now we wouldn't have one "good" president, Washington included. You have to judge them from the vantage point of their own time. - memper, on 02/11/2009, -0/+2I didn't like his act. I thought it was trite and overly studied. But I'd still go and see the area, and see if I could catch the performance. I have a feeling he's better in person without the horrible editing and 10th grade videography class footage documenting him at crude angles. This video crew has no chance of working for Ken Burns.
- Otto, on 02/11/2009, -0/+2Lincoln was history's worst monster, and the worst thing to ever happen to the United States of America. Virtually all modern problems with the USA's government can be directly traced to Lincoln's misguided and illegal policies.
If Lincoln is taught to children, it should be as an example of what not to do. - LincolnSmash, on 02/11/2009, -1/+2Sir, I find those to be fighting words, and fighting words make me angry. You won't like me when I'm angry.
- StrikerF35, on 02/11/2009, -1/+2True, but there was that whole Civil War thing. I guess that was a pretty big deal at the time, not really sure what it was about. People keep telling me all this ***** about "most important event in American history," but I'm thinking it was more War on Terror than World War II. And if that's true, they should have impeached the imperialist republican *****.
/feeding the troll - inactive, on 02/11/2009, -1/+2yay now do john quincy adams!
- inactive, on 02/11/2009, -1/+2klansman up in this bizzle?
- fattehboi, on 02/11/2009, -1/+2well it only took a century and a half...
- LinMorel, on 02/11/2009, -1/+2I, for one, appreciate seeing Lincoln shared with kids. He was a great man with great ideas and integrity, somethhing that's in short supply in lots of places. It's interesting history's focus on his failures, and forget that his ability to hold true during the war came because those failures made him strong enough to get us through.

- Aethirig, on 02/11/2009, -1/+2Edit: wrong comment
- MatthewDuke, on 02/11/2009, -1/+2So if there is another Civil War and you are on the wrong side, you won't mind getting thrown in jail for 10 years without a trial?
- antdude, on 02/11/2009, -0/+1How about the one from Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure movie?
- fattehboi, on 02/11/2009, -2/+3I guess the sudden increase of Lincoln-based diggs must be related to the upcoming Presidents day.

- varchar255, on 02/11/2009, -0/+1Video's not working for me. YouTube mirror:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQueA6ackmk
- MatthewDuke, on 02/11/2009, -2/+2Lincoln sucked as a president. He suspended habeas corpus, the Supreme Court told him it was unconstitutional (w/o an act of congress) and he said "whatev" and kept people in jail for years without a trial.
- mjbk24, on 02/11/2009, -2/+2My thoughts exactly. How can you have; "Four score and seven years ago..." in that voice?
- MatthewDuke, on 02/11/2009, -4/+4Horrible president. Racist and didn't respect the Constitution.
- BA88, on 02/11/2009, -3/+3or perhaps people are starting to realize how great of a president he actually was and how ahead of his time he was.
- acroyear2, on 02/12/2009, -1/+1enslaved? seriously? the other arguments we can look at but come on.
- eatsomelead, on 02/13/2009, -1/+0 Lincoln was kind of a dick:
