- ohhector, on 04/03/2008, -0/+42DUGG for having a photo I took in there!!!
haha
(it's near the end, the one of a guy with steam coming out of his ears)
If anyone would like to see what else I've been doing with this, you can check out my light painting sets here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ohhector/collections/ ... - Blanchflower, on 04/03/2008, -8/+38This is real painting with light. When they talk about modern art this is what it should be, not stupid shapes by people who can't draw.
- mercury187, on 04/03/2008, -3/+32i dont understand how they paint with light. I understand how the long exposure works but why cant you see them standing in the picture moving lights around????
- DeskFlyer, on 04/03/2008, -0/+25Because the light source you are painting with projects highly contrasting light to the CCD sensor (or film if you are still into that) and your person isn't. If you move quickly enough, you won't be seen at all. Even if you hang out in one spot for a duration of the exposure, you'll still only see a ghost of yourself. The longer the exposure, the better the results.
There are other factors to consider, such as what clothes you are wearing, the ambient lighting conditions, background, etc. - esteskid, on 04/03/2008, -4/+21no no it's just a black circle, it represents my soul's inner pain and the darkness of human nature. It's circular because I'm a Buddhist, we'll kind of, I read about it Internet, and stuff is definitely circular in Buddhism.
- ieataquacrayons, on 04/03/2008, -1/+17Dugg for the garbage can robots.
- radarbeam, on 04/03/2008, -0/+11I don't get the "explosion" one... How were they able to stay suspended over the ground long enough to be exposed on the shot?
- FUR10N, on 04/03/2008, -0/+11wtf
- ChayD, on 04/03/2008, -0/+10Howto: draw explosion graffitti in pitch dark room with shutter open, ask friends to jump, then fire just the flash (with the shutter still open) Result is that the flash lights up and exposes friends at the moment they jump, leaving them otherwise unexposed whilst the drawing is taking place.
- ChiffX, on 04/03/2008, -0/+10It felt like they got better as I went down the list. The guitar, pacman, and the lightning gun are definitely my favourites.
- rockrodger, on 04/03/2008, -0/+9Stumble into a dugg grave
- BryanTheCrow, on 04/03/2008, -0/+7Here's how it's done: http://www.wonderhowto.com/arts-crafts/street-art- ...
- gooberguy, on 04/03/2008, -0/+5what kind of light source would that be? interested.
- rockrodger, on 04/03/2008, -0/+5This is inspiring. Although it reminds me of Photoshop's neon feature. How does the photographer and his light twirling and writing subject not get exposed in the film. I have tried and failed at this as my subject and their hands appear in the picture. Can someone give me an inside hint?
- navexxx, on 04/03/2008, -1/+6Very nice....
- mynameisjonas, on 04/03/2008, -0/+5One of my favorite examples was in the cover of Saves The Day's new album:

i love the added light graffiti created by the stars :) - kickelephant, on 04/03/2008, -0/+5Some of those take a different approach. They set the shutter for a long time, (from 2 to 30+ seconds) (F3.5 or bigger also), but when the shutter opens, you can set the camera to flash initial, flooding the room or whatever. THEN mess around with the flashlight, lighter,LED etc.
- strobelite33, on 04/03/2008, -1/+5dugg for lightning guns
- DeskFlyer, on 04/03/2008, -1/+5Please see my reply to the post above. Also, have you tried wearing black gloves and clothing? It should help prevent you from reflecting any ambient light from whatever you're holding back into the camera.
- DeskFlyer, on 04/03/2008, -1/+5Oops, I meant to say just 'light', not 'ambient light' there. Ugh, I need sleep.
- mickstephenson, on 04/03/2008, -0/+4No I am taking the piss out of you because you ever so condescendingly said this. "I bet you just LOVE Dali and Escher, am I right?". Above my head? Explain to me this what, did you say that was above my head? You didn't say anything, your comment had no value you said "I went to college, I understand, you don't, you know nothing" arrrrgh my brain is imploding how could could I possibly understand the wisdom and knowledge of that sentence. Why don't you try again and explain why he is wrong, instead of stating your own brilliance and mocking him.
- mickstephenson, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3I prefer this kind of light graffiti http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/341052.st ...
- xxMarka, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3that is an easy way to get dugg down here.
- otis12, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3There is something cool about colorful lights, very nice
- yourmightyruler, on 04/03/2008, -1/+4It's called flash.
- DeeprBlue, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3I used whatever was on hand at the time I found myself bored and with a DSLR. A cellphone does the trick just fine!
- ritter99, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3This is one of the nicest collection I've seen so far.
I just wonder why they call it "Graffiti"? There's nothing of the Graffiti-spirit in those pictures, since they neither have a political statement nor do they last and are seen on public spaces.
It's all "digital" stuff. And being digital stuff, I wonder why this should be cool (compared to all the other things on deviantart or flickr). Apart from the fun people are obviously having while making them. - Shizlanski, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3Whats the point of this crappy modern art (ie random shape with apparent meaning) if you need a college degree to understand it? Thats stupid. True art doesnt need a college degree to be appreciated.
- LoudMusic, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2How the hell does "Om nom nom" have more than twice as many diggs as this?
- fhsieh, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2Try these:

More info: http://tochka.jp/pikapika/ - DeskFlyer, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2I like using LED flashlights or lasers, they seem to produce the best results. Of course, any sort of bright light will work.
- drewfer, on 04/03/2008, -2/+4I love these pictures. Heres some of my own
