      I am Swedish on the other hand, we don't have hand guns but topless is quite a common sight without people freaking out too often.

The hard part with women will be their need to accept that if they do not wear clothing, men will look at them. This is especially the case if there is a worker nearby, whether he be a state worker or lifeguard. I forsee many situations where a women will go topless, and then sue the company because one of their male (or female) workers stopped to appreciate the site. This would be immoral on her part, but the law would uphold her... which is stupid.

Maybe if you get used to seeing breasts and not getting in trouble this silly idea that women intentionally naked in public don't want you to look at them will go away. It's ok to appreciate beauty, but you shouldn't stare when a woman is scantily clad. Just keep the same mentality and everything should be fine. I highly doubt one could sue for someone staring too long though. If this is the case, then right something into the laws that allow us to show our own bodies but not sue for being looked at.

I agree, the law should have something in it about not being able to sue for being looked at...but guess what...If they did that every feminist out there would be in an uproar. I personaly have no problem with women being topless, but the fact is that it will cause legal problems.

          Why is the reaction from women always that men fear breasts? It's not nudity that we fear, it's the woman who decides to sue us or our company because we turned our head as she walked by. It's an absurd system.

      The biggest issue with nude PUBLIC beaches is that the entire public has a say about what is allowed on public property...so if conservatives complain enough (and they usually do), it will never be allowed. It doesn't even matter if the majority of people in the area aren't prudes.

Use of British spellings despite the fact that American English is the most commonly used in the world. I really don't care about this, but Brits tend to get pissy if you don't use their spellings in things like Wikipedia. 3. Resistance to changing to the euro. The British monetary system is just confusing if you aren't used to it. People often cite American resistance to the metric system, but we're really just using a system passed down to Americans from the British.

      4 - Confusing monetary system? Anything's confusing if you're not used to it.
      5 - You don't get to pass the buck like that. Commonwealth countries like Sri Lanka had the metric system passed down to them, and they converted fully to metric - does that make you worse than them since you're unable?

      This all dates back to LONG before cars. People on horseback on narrow dirt roads needed to be armed and able to protect themselves. The vast majority of people were right handed, so carried their sword on their left hip, and fought most effectively on the right side of the horse. This lead to people naturally riding on the left hand side of the road while passing each other. Pistols are also easier to shoot on the right hand side instead of crossing your body. Later, because of the same reason, carriages were built to ride on the left hand side. How were they built on the left hand side? They only had one door, on the left hand side of the carriage. Later, with comprehensive policing, roads became safer, and this was not necessary, but the carriages were still on the road when the first cars appeared. In fact the cars were greatly outnumbered for a decade. The left hand side was the only sensible option.

      The biggest question is why the French (the inventers of the car) and later the Americans decided to drive on the opposite side of the road.

    It's more an issue of societal association. Rather than accept the naked human body as the natural state of being, we've associated any naked or scantily-clad body part with sexuality, then used that sexuality as a marketing tool.

    I'm not saying we shouldn't be in touch with our sexuality. OH NO. Just that people have to get over ALWAYS seeing body parts as sex objects. Every body part is attached to a person. If it's not, and you're still attracted to it, well, you've got bigger problems.

      What specific states are you talking about? As far as I know, only Iran and Taliban-controlled areas enforce Hijab by law, and I don't think either of them will execute people for "going outside" without one. (Though Iran's Abolfazl Musavi-Tabrizi is quoted as arguing for as much.)

Either way I don't think its a huge deal for women to go topless if they so choose. Its not like you'd suddenly see every woman coming into work with her jugs on full display. Men can walk around with no shirt on but you don't see everyone doing it.

    It just means that you'd see more nipple at the beach and the pool and anywhere that people get drunk.

          In a nutshell that's part of the reason it is illegal here. Some fools don't know how to act when they see some breasts. If everyone would just look but behave when they did so we'd all get to see more *****.

          Would I look if I saw some naked breasts walking by me at my local watering hole? Hell yeah! I've had girls flash me plenty of times. Nothing wrong with looking. But if you're still looking and haven't moved after like, 5 minutes, then you've got a problem (and probably an erection).

    You also have one of the oldest ages of consent on the planet (in some states at least). 18? Seriously? and the drinking laws... everyone does both those things well before they're "allowed" to.

    Anyways like I said, it's the laws not the people. You do have spring break awesomeness, and the largest porn industry on earth. I guess it all evens out ;)
