someone failed on a comment today and it made me sad. not as sad as when I missed my favorite band play my favorite song, "stab stabby heart stab". but still. I think I'm going to tell my live journal friends about this. both of them would find it crushing.
diary, you're the only one that understands me. I love you diary. Kisses.
We should make smores tonight and write on our bodies with a sharpie.- acidreflux, on 03/28/2008, -50/+3Way to butcher a YTMND meme, faggot.
- Chompy, on 03/28/2008, -1/+38You're still too young to join a frat, but keep working at it!
- bagboyrebel, on 03/28/2008, -0/+11First of all YTMND has fads, not memes. Second, isn't that the Emo songs? I don't think that's specifically from YTMND anyways.
- fluidfoundation, on 03/28/2008, -2/+3BagBoyRebel is correct. I guess he's a fag now in you're opinion, acid.

- laterallateral, on 03/28/2008, -10/+10Maybe we should also have a castrate the trailer trash to keep their progeny from future bigoted comments on Digg day, you know, to restore balance in the universe.
- PaleGhost, on 03/28/2008, -11/+2and you can be the first to be castrated, asshole
- laterallateral, on 03/28/2008, -2/+9Sorry to tell you but I live in a house that's attached to the ground.
- RomeyRome, on 03/28/2008, -3/+2Most unfortunate.
- InspectorGadget, on 03/28/2008, -1/+2Emo isn't a race or religion, so there's no "bigotry" involved.
- Gir53457, on 03/28/2008, -1/+2Emo in Mexico is viewed as being a homosexual. What do you think happens when you get a city of 1.5 million people with heavy Catholic beliefs and crime problems that make Patterson NJ look like San Fransisco?
- GrodyChamp, on 03/28/2008, -1/+1How is that being a bigot? Ignorant *****.
- PaleGhost, on 03/28/2008, -11/+2and you can be the first to be castrated, asshole

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/teenage ...- JEWestbrookJR, on 03/28/2008, -4/+9I agree. I think emo is a joke of a culture, but I also completely agree with tolerance. I would never hurt some one or be rude to them based on fashion and music taste. That's just lame.
- k1down, on 03/28/2008, -3/+3Too soon.
- theuber1337, on 03/29/2008, -3/+1I punched an emo that day. God bless america!
- VikingoTJ, on 03/28/2008, -30/+168I remember seeing on the news here recently that one emo kid in Queretero was ganged up upon and beaten to death by a huge mob of people in the main plaza of the city. In Mexico City, metal heads and punkers faced off with emos in a major traffic circle. Over a thousand riot police (granaderos) had to be called out.
This is truly sad.- D14852001neko, on 03/28/2008, -4/+70No emo-kids were killed; he was ganged up yes, but never "beaten to death". Just to correct.
- jsmith39, on 03/28/2008, -2/+43You should know better than to underscore sensationalism with something as lame as facts. This is Digg!
- ashwin100, on 03/28/2008, -10/+3No.
THIS. IS. SPARTAAAA!
- ashwin100, on 03/28/2008, -10/+3No.
- VikingoTJ, on 03/28/2008, -2/+12Sorry, should have been "half to death". Figure of speech that was used incorrectly.
- ihatepaulspam, on 03/28/2008, -8/+4Too bad it was only half.
- umbepo, on 03/28/2008, -1/+4I call *****. You can't even spell your town correctly. It's "Queretaro".

- Jethdm, on 03/28/2008, -10/+25That fight in Mexico City would be an epic fight that I'd love to see.
- Incomp3tnt, on 03/29/2008, -0/+2Not really. Metal heads and punkers vs. Emo kids? The emo kids would read their angry poetry whilst their opponents punched them in the face.
But seriously, this really is just plain sad. Reminds me of chavs over here in England, who attack young males merely for having long hair. Such a fun society to grow up in. - vanityneverlies, on 04/03/2008, -0/+0Some of the emos would hold their own. Did you see the angry emo chick around minute 1.30 being held back by her boyfriend?
Although the punks and rockabillys do look like they know how to use a belt a little better...belt vs. hair straightener hmmmm?!

- laterallateral, on 03/28/2008, -7/+10The emo kids would have a fighting chance, if they were equipped with snowmobile helmets fitted with megaphones on top and were to break out in the occasional collective singing of ABBA medleys.

- bbqsalad, on 03/28/2008, -8/+14Could you imagine that? The emo kids all laid on ground in fetus position while metal heads continually headbutt them. Ah man...
Dear Mexican Youth,
Stop trying so hard. It makes you look fake and retarded.
-rest of world. - Alvaradolol, on 03/28/2008, -0/+3Is that Javier Bardem in the top right?
- k1down, on 03/28/2008, -7/+5I guess since Hispanic countries have mostly the same race that makes up their populace, they find other reasons to hate each other. Race not an issue? Religion a fading archaic habit? Hmm... what to hate for today... I've got it! Lame Self-Expression! That is an ass-beatable offense right? ...right?
- ordig, on 03/28/2008, -0/+4wow
how freaking ignorant can you be?
Hispanic countries have alot of racial diversity. Mexico itself has a indigenous mayan population that periodically stages armed uprisings.- willster580, on 03/28/2008, -0/+4Dude, almost everyone in Mexico is like 90% indigenous. Not saying that what you said isn't true though.
- litebox, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1@willster580
Wow, you are so wrong, why you dont visit the country? I mean you can come to several touristic cities (So you can feel safe), have some fun, visit some museums, and illustrate yourself on some of the aspects of Mexican culture and population. Instead of throwing a percentage out of thin air adding the term "indigenous" which is too ambiguous to even make a point.
- ordig, on 03/28/2008, -0/+4wow
- Zlorp, on 03/28/2008, -8/+6why is it sad? emos hate life and want to die anyway right?
- bjos144, on 03/28/2008, -5/+13oh the irony, emo kids being treated as outsiders because no one understands them... reap what you sow.
- diggingaround, on 03/28/2008, -0/+12Can bald person be emo?
- BetterOffEd, on 03/28/2008, -1/+2I'm sorry... You sound sincere, but I really can't take you seriously at all since you're the infamous digger who continually makes the exact same comment involving green spandex pants, Dale Earnhardt's car, and the supermarket over and over and over again...
- bluepass, on 03/28/2008, -2/+2Emo kids need a real life Jigsaw to teach them a lesson. "Some people are so ungrateful to be alive. Not you; not anymore." I may be a bit too harsh, but sitting in a corner and whining about something is not gonna solve a thing. Appeal to emotion doesn't work with everyone.
- BryanCDowney, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1Links?
- D14852001neko, on 03/28/2008, -4/+70No emo-kids were killed; he was ganged up yes, but never "beaten to death". Just to correct.
- VikingoTJ, on 03/28/2008, -17/+133Plus blatant homophobia down here makes any intolerance that happens in the United States seem like nothing. However, D.F (Mexico City) and the state of Coahuila now allow civil unions. Some progress is being made.
I really can't under stand what the big deal is over emos. Its not like they go around flaming like drag queens even. What is even more ironic is that in the past the rock movement pushed for social tolerance. This development is truly disturbing.
Here is a youtube video of one of the riots in Queretaro. The attitude of the guy that was interviewed is un-nerving. "What I can't stand is that they hang out in a particular part of the plaza.......They seem more like girls than boys.".
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Prb1rnNjQpI- RudeTurnip, on 03/28/2008, -38/+8What do you expect when their language has "masculine" and "feminine" nouns?
- coboman, on 03/28/2008, -4/+13Nothing to do with language. Spain (where this language was born), is very progressive, as the rest of Europe.
- andersonwill, on 03/28/2008, -0/+3woooosh

- coboman, on 03/28/2008, -4/+13Nothing to do with language. Spain (where this language was born), is very progressive, as the rest of Europe.
- Dragular, on 03/28/2008, -5/+34This is one thing I've noticed from the immigrant population. I live in a small Alabama town that's probably 45% White, 10% Black, 45% Hispanic, and while your average southern town isn't exactly a bastion of liberalism, the hispanics that I've spoken to are about as Conservative on this issue as Rush Limbaugh. If the Republicans weren't so gung-ho on border control, they'd have a definite guaranteed voter share.
- oblique63, on 03/28/2008, -1/+14as a latin, I wish I could be offended by/counter your statement.... but sadly, its all too true....
- LokitheComplex, on 03/28/2008, -4/+4Hmmn. I suspect world wide the poor are generally more racist, intolerant and homophobic. They are in more direct economic competition with other groups people. When you sell yourself on labour rather than skills oversupply brings down your wages. And when you are poor children are insurance in old age. So homosexuality is a threat to that. The rich are not threatened by homosexuality as their wealth is insurance. Just a theory.
- Spudster, on 03/29/2008, -2/+3Higher social classes that are *significantly* higher than other classes won't bother directly attacking classes much lower than them. The people who attack minority groups are the ones who see themselves in a similar social class to those people. For example, low income white labourers need a way of making themselves feel higher in social class to such people whereas rich people couldn't give a ***** because those minorities pose no threat to their status.
- afruff23, on 03/28/2008, -3/+5@Dragular
As long as we're generalizing, the immigrants would still vote for the Democrats for more handouts. - Iknowyourtricks, on 03/28/2008, -5/+2For the record, Linkin Park is NOT emo. Even emo kids hate them. But if I'm wrong, then I guess they deserve what they're getting.
- neuromachine, on 03/28/2008, -4/+2That's because nobody likes Linkin Park.
- SilentSpyder, on 03/28/2008, -0/+7Sort of agree, I am Hispanics an live in a city that's 90% Hispanic. Most Hispanics are socially conservative but economically liberal.
- afruff23, on 03/29/2008, -1/+1Which explains the fascist socialist countries they come from to find home in this slightly less fascist and slightly less socialist country.
- Spudster, on 03/29/2008, -0/+3I can't think of any political ideology that is worse than a socially conservative economic liberal.
- ISIfunded911, on 03/28/2008, -17/+12I knew before the article mentioned it that it was about homophobia.
Basically the crazies who beat the emos are paranoid, and as psychoanalysis explains, paranoids, being very pathologically narcissistic, are in love with themselves, their own bodies, male bodies, and are repressed homosexuals. Machos are also pathologically narcissistic. These groups of violent retards are obviously composed of machos lead by paranoids, and by hitting young men they establish a physical, violently homosexual, contact with the bodies of those ambiguous young men they unconsciously feel attracted to.
Emos of Mexico, feel free to print my comment and distribute it!- nbcaffeine, on 03/28/2008, -4/+11I'll distribute it... to the trash

- slvrbullet87, on 03/28/2008, -4/+11wannabe trannys?
- ISIfunded911, on 03/28/2008, -8/+3Maybe they are saying no to the violence of a pathologically paternalist capitalist society, no to being forced to be strong little soldiers in the violent worldwide economic war destroying our planet and ourselves.
- InspectorGadget, on 03/28/2008, -1/+6You'll have to repeat yourself. You don't enunciate clearly when you have Karl Marx's dick in one side of your mouth and Andrea Dworkin's dick in the other.
- Digger1218, on 03/28/2008, -1/+5Maybe they're confused kids who don't know who they are. Stop trying to make Emo into a relevant social movement. Its not. Its a fad.
- ISIfunded911, on 03/28/2008, -1/+2An homophobic digger and a digger who ignores the unconscious.
So many competent intellectuals on digg to talk to. - Digger1218, on 04/04/2008, -0/+1And a Digger who thinks that using big words automatically makes him an "intellectual"
- Digger1218, on 03/28/2008, -9/+12Take your pseudo-intellectual ***** back to your freshman psych class douche.
- jm4847, on 03/28/2008, -10/+17It's also due to the media's influence. Mexico is still a backwards catholic *****, and we all know how tolerant catholics are.
- Rambeezle, on 03/28/2008, -5/+2As far as organized religion goes the Catholic church is very tolerant; respectably, it does hold to some convictions. Please show more tolerance by not insulting an entire country and religion.
- jm4847, on 03/29/2008, -0/+2I'm a mexican, and I admit that in many areas my country ***** sucks.
I tolerate catholics, but I will not tolerate or show respect for their stupid oppressive mythology.- Rambeezle, on 03/29/2008, -0/+0How dare you insult your nation. Mexico is not a *****. I've been there.
- jm4847, on 03/29/2008, -0/+2I'm a mexican, and I admit that in many areas my country ***** sucks.
- Narrator, on 03/28/2008, -0/+2Actually Mexican culture was influenced greatly by middle ages Spanish culture which was greatly influenced by the Moorish culture who were kicked out in 1492. Moors of course were muslims who had certain outdated ideas about the family, the role of men and women in society, child rearing, etc. Things have of course improved but the bad habits are still there.
- quiksliver, on 03/28/2008, -0/+3blame is on the muslims eh?

because they pretend to be original and edgy but instead theyre just whiny posers with stupid haircuts- glasnostic, on 03/28/2008, -3/+14yeah.. why cant they be original with cool haircuts like punk rockers and greasers?
- bagboyrebel, on 03/28/2008, -3/+8I think it's more that they are teenagers who all think there life sucks because not everything goes there ways. And they're music is so obnoxious.
- jon30041, on 03/28/2008, -1/+8Punk music, metal, and emo are ALL obnoxious in their own ways. Punk is dumbass "fight!" songs, metal is dumbass "rrrrrrrrrrraaaaage!" songs and emo is dumbass pretentious "holier than thou, oh so sad" songs.
Only thing in this grouping that deserves any exemption is Irish punk, a la Dropkick Murphy's and Flogging Molly. Mostly good stuff about family unity, a good work ethic, and having a good ass-kickin time at the bar. - Scarfy, on 03/28/2008, -0/+2That's true, but so what? It's not affecting you or anyone else.
- BetterOffEd, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1I'm sorry... You sound sincere, but I really can't take you seriously at all since you're the infamous digger who continually makes the exact same comment involving green spandex pants, Dale Earnhardt's car, and the supermarket over and over and over again...

- thscientist1, on 03/28/2008, -15/+133how could this happen to me?
- Dragular, on 03/28/2008, -22/+98There's a quote in another article, one of the emo guys opinions:
"CRAAAAAAAAWLING INNNNNNNNN MY SKINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN THESE WOOOOOOUUNDS THEY WILLLLLLLLLL NOT HEALLLLLLLL"- hs112186, on 03/28/2008, -30/+32how exactly is Linkin Park emo?
- Dragular, on 03/28/2008, -9/+93Crap sorry I forgot everyone has their own subgenre now. They're post-punk emo-nu-metalcore grunge-house.
- diversionmary, on 03/28/2008, -10/+30Many different ways, but mostly the music, lyrics, attitude and subject.
- laterallateral, on 03/28/2008, -19/+21Nope.You all fail. Linkin Park, although sucking badly, still isn't emo.
Saying that it is, forfeits all credibility one may have on any topic regarding music (including whether such and such is good or not)- diversionmary, on 03/28/2008, -13/+9Ah, the oft-used "I'm right you're wrong" argument.
If you're looking for it, the humor flew right over your head. Linkin Park is emo in the 'I hate you stepdad steve' teenage angst way. - Dragular, on 03/28/2008, -4/+11Are you ***** me? Not knowing who belongs to a genre that no one will officially claim to belong to makes one not have credibility?
***** that man. Having the name "laterallateral" means that you lose any and all credibility. see, I can make up ***** rules as I go too! - laterallateral, on 03/28/2008, -6/+2Well, like it or not we have words to communicate concrete ideas. Unfortunately, we cant go redefining their meaning as we go, just because we want the privilege of using them but lack the motivation to learn to employ them correctly and STILL expect to communicate successfully with other people who know what these words actually mean. Like it or not we label things, yeah, sometimes it gets out of hand and sometimes it's rather futile but that's how it works. I think what's worse is that in this day in age, it would be so EASY for you to find out exactly what emo refers to. Simply looking it up in Wikipedia would settle this dispute. But no... Linkin Park is emo... Just like Jimi Hendrix is Metal, right?
- bobbyi, on 03/28/2008, -2/+3Actually, knowing enough about the nuances of emo and the works of Linkin Park to be able to lecture others is what causes one to abandon credibility. Sorry!
- diversionmary, on 03/28/2008, -13/+9Ah, the oft-used "I'm right you're wrong" argument.
- sonofblacula, on 03/28/2008, -8/+1They're emo on the inside.
- Jaliyl, on 03/28/2008, -5/+6They weren't, but their last album was.
- unearth, on 03/28/2008, -0/+13Emo has a standard definition and a casual definition. Standard refers to the 80's hardcore punk genre that nobody cares about. The casual definition refers to any music perceived as angsty, whiny, or otherwise self-pitying.
Linkin Park is not emo (genre), but they are emo (lyrics and vocals). That's not saying much, though. Even Metallica has a lot of emo lyrics. - TheProtested, on 03/28/2008, -4/+14who the ***** listens to linkin park?
- ordig, on 03/28/2008, -4/+3who listens to linkin park?
people that need their ass kicked - benfeld1, on 03/28/2008, -1/+1Linkin Park is a roller coaster!
http://www.youhavebadtasteinmusic.com/linkinpark.h ...- bbardlbradd, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1***** Hilarious!
- ashleegirl, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1Yes there is better music out there, but roller coasters are fun. They help you get an adrenaline rush without doing something dangerous. I don't see how listening to something like Lincoln Park is bad because "he didn't actually break." Also, Chester does have wounds, he was molested and sexually abused as a kid. He isn't an emo crying over nothing. Being molested actually is something to get emotional over, unlike not being popular.
- PRlME, on 03/28/2008, -10/+6I listen to LP I can listen to what the ***** i want....I dont abide by rules of what cool or what others like. Most of you i'm sure banged your heads to LP when they first came out. Now like a trend you play them down.
written by a real LP fan not the fake one. - EvilGunOwner, on 03/28/2008, -1/+3@PRIME:
I used to think Linkin Park was the coolest band ever back when I was thirteen. I thought they were going to change the world, that they were futuristic. Over the years, my taste for them faded away. I never hated them, but I never cared for their music.
Then, about two years ago, I decided to buy Filter's "Title of Record," a 1999 rock-electronic fusion album just like Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory." If I had bought Filter's album back in '99, I would have thrown away Linkin Park. Linkin Park has boring drumming, crappy rap, and the usual guitar riffs. If you take away the electronic flair, all you get is substandard rock. Filter on the other hand, blends rock and electronic so seamlessly. They have been doing it since 1995. The singer, Jason Patrick, was from Nine Inch Nails so that's where the inspiration comes from.
I'm sorry you still like to listen to Linkin Park. I can only hope you discover better things... -like Nine Inch Nails and Filter!- bbardlbradd, on 03/29/2008, -1/+2Nine Inch Nails FTW
- PRlME, on 03/29/2008, -1/+2yea so i'm like 29 and your going to tell me about NIN? lol You stupid mySpacerz dont know ***** about NIN, REM, Nirvana, and Perl Jam. If I ***** like LP its my ***** choice and my taste....don't bang some one cause they dont like the same things you do. Then your just a jackass like the people killing each other in this post "kill the emos there not normal"

- gregish, on 03/28/2008, -9/+4Seriously?
maybe you should like 10 seconds to check the wikipedia article on music the next time you want to pretend you have any idea what emo is- Dragular, on 03/28/2008, -1/+5"As the remaining indie emo bands entered the mainstream, newer bands began to emulate the mainstream style. As a result, the term "emo" became a vaguely defined identifier rather than a specific genre of music."
Also
"Fans of several of the listed bands have recoiled at the use of the "emo" tag, and have gone to great lengths to explain why they don't qualify as "emo". "
Linkin Park fan much? - Dragular, on 03/28/2008, -1/+5Sorry for the double post, but also:
"In an even more expanded way than in the 90s, emo has come to encompass an extremely wide variety of bands, many of whom have very little in common. The term has become so broad that it has become nearly impossible to describe what exactly qualifies as "emo"."
So... Linkin park = Emo

- acrad, on 03/28/2008, -8/+655I thought this was an article from The Onion.....
- VikingoTJ, on 03/28/2008, -3/+39No this is really happening. I have been seeing this on the news down here for the last week.

- mountvale, on 03/28/2008, -3/+3It IS the Onion... it's just really cleverly disguised as a wired article to be extra funny.
- Masticity, on 03/28/2008, -8/+3nope, emo kids thankfully get beat up in real life.
- Spudster, on 03/28/2008, -0/+2I had to watch both the video and the whole article to convince myself that this could be real. I even made sure the video wasn't fake either. I swear, this whole situation is crazy.

- VikingoTJ, on 03/28/2008, -2/+38It only really started catching on here the last couple of years. Its interesting that you never see such an outpouring against gangsta rap anywhere.
The blogger hit it right on the head of the nail....the violence is more homophobic in nature than anything else.
Here is an anti-emo video in Spanish that has been circulating.

- prosayik, on 03/28/2008, -0/+6The Japanese are into everything. However, based on my experience, its more fashion and less a ready-to-wear personality (i.e. hippies are not vegans who claim that corporations are hiding a patchouli powered car).
- andretii, on 03/29/2008, -2/+1fashion? lol yea thats y Jap emos are the highest committing suicide?
- Avngr75, on 03/29/2008, -0/+3You do realize that those Japanese that are committing suicide are usually those of the more "mainstream" college type kids right? The main reason for it is that they've be raised in a society where you must follow the guide lines precisely. Those that dress against the norm have rebelled against the stereotype and probably are much happier, while the conservatively dressed kids are jumping into rivers because they did not test into the college they wanted.

- icenineiv, on 03/28/2008, -2/+5What I don't get is how emo is a "movement". Generally a movement stands for something, but wtf do emo kids stand for, sitting around and crying?
- zephyear, on 03/28/2008, -16/+73dumbest ***** ever.
emo is dead.
the sad thing is these metalheads and whatnot think they're putting a stop to an emo "movement" when it's just the decades fashion trend, every decade has one, this one was just more androgynous than the last.

- minorthreat, on 03/28/2008, -8/+5***** right.. emo is comparable to the same scene as the 80's hair bands, but being a metalhead is part of a fashion trend. Metalheads have been around since early 80's. The punk scene since the mid 80's. Rockabilly, Social D anyone? You don't see anyone sporting big 80's hair and tight spandex anymore. ***** emo kids, they are just lost and are trying to figure out where to fit in.

- alexgg, on 03/28/2008, -7/+4Actually, it is not you ignorant. It is one of the five great emerging economies of the world. We are quite civilized, and are very "agringados", americanized for you, ignorant. I'd say that one out of 2000 people wear sombreros. And mariachis, bosssmiley, are in crisis. They are only paid by americans who come here and want "the real Mexico". That Mexico is no longer "the real Mexico". I'll be dugg down for being aggressive or something, but it is my country you are talking about. Make fun of your mom next time.
- NonLeftistDiggr, on 03/28/2008, -1/+1Mariachi music is bad ass, it's that accordion with melodramatic male lead vocals crap all over the radio that's intolerable.
- qber, on 03/28/2008, -2/+4No, you're being dugg down for not having a sense of humor.
- alexgg, on 03/28/2008, -3/+2Yeah, it's funny how Osama destroyed the Twin Towers. It isn't right?
- ShinRaTDR, on 03/28/2008, -2/+3"Yeah, it's funny how Osama destroyed the Twin Towers. It isn't right?"
Sorry, something retarded got into your keyboard, can you please repeat that?- alexgg, on 03/28/2008, -2/+4It's exactly the point I'm trying to make. It's the same thing. You're mocking the identity of a country. Don't do that. You don't know how Mexicans do not like to be called "guys with sombreros". We are not. We were. We do not call you apaches or something. We don't call you cowboys. It is not funny for us. It's not I don't have a sense of humor. It's a matter of how the world sees you.
- d0onut, on 03/28/2008, -3/+3Hey alexgg, if you made a funny joke about the Twin Towers falling, I'd laugh. Granted, you'd be dugg down for being off topic, but honestly, get a sense of humor.
- ShinRaTDR, on 03/28/2008, -3/+3No its not the same thing, one isn't a joke and is just a stupid statement, the other is a joke. The thing about a joke is its not something than can be psychoanalyzed very heavily without running it, its either funny or it isn't, if the majority of people who hear it find it funny then its a decent joke. And secondly, how is your statement, or the joke that was made, mocking the identity of a country? And furthermore, when has mocking the identity of a country been off limits for jokes?
- alexgg, on 03/29/2008, -2/+1It is off limits when the VAST majority of people feel tired and offended by that. You don't believe me? Look up a facebook group called "i'm mexican and i don't travel in a burro or wear a sombrero". It is not a matter of whether I'm off topic or not, it is not a matter of whether it is funny or not, it is not a matter of whether it is liked by masses or not, it is a matter or whether you offend or not.
- SquigglyP, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1people know Mexico isn't like that. The US has to deal with a lot of stereotypes as the world generally sees us all as fat, ignorant, SUV driving, war-mongering slobs. I'll have you know that we are not all fat. I weigh 135 lbs soaking wet. It's hard to go to other countries cause they expect me to be fat. They don't even know I'm american until I say something, and they they're like "Oh, you're american? You're not fat!" It's really hard on me sometimes to have to deal with that, emotionally. So I can understand where you're coming from, but i think it's just the sort of tourist crap that's just so prominent that it's hard to not immediately connect with it.
That said, I'm not going to Mexico cause the water is bad, and I don't want to get kidnapped by one of the drug lords and sold into slavery. Tequila!!
and yeah, I'm possibly a little intoxicated right now.

- Kronos6948, on 03/28/2008, -8/+91I may be showing my age here, but I remember when this type of ***** happened in every high school. It used to be the jocks vs us metalheads. There was a fight so big at our high school that they had to have the cops come in to break it up. We were just wanting to be ourselves, and they didn't like us for that.
Now it seems like us metalheads are the oppressors.
Sure, I hate pop culture just as much as the next guy, but there's no reason to take it to this level. Let them have their emo, and they'll eventually grow out of it and follow another trend.- nattybohman, on 03/28/2008, -3/+41This difference is that jocks vs. metalheads is a pretty even fight. Emo 'gangs' are the wimpiest group of kids gathering together under one social umbrella. Pitting them in a confrontation against metalheads is a completely different scenario than heads vs. jocks or punks. It's less of a battle and more of a victimization.
- Kronos6948, on 03/28/2008, -1/+17I understand your thought process, but we were grossly outnumbered. My estimates would be about 3:1, so we had our hands full - and guess who got the blame. Anyhow, I agree this is definitely a victimization of kids who want to look and act a certain way that a lot of other people don't like. I can take a good joke (back when I was younger, all the jokes were pointed at us), and I'm sure they can too, but once violence comes into the picture, it's just wrong.

- olbap, on 03/28/2008, -25/+15Metalheads have every right to beat on emo kids. Emo kids are partially responsible for both the dumbing down of punk and rock music. Anyone who is a fan of rock music should HATE emo kids for what they've turned the genre into over the past 10-15 years. ***** emo kids. Let them all die.
- chewbie, on 03/28/2008, -3/+16your bands sold out, dumbass!
I don't like emo music but it's clear to me how your precious bands follow the latest trend.
You have bad taste in music - Kronos6948, on 03/28/2008, -2/+12You don't get it, do you....the kids don't make the scene...the RECORD COMPANIES DO. They find something that has a mild following, and oversaturate the market. Kids just want to be popular and fit in (at least most of them do), so they follow whatever trend there is. Bands tend to do the same...they follow the money.
We have to get out of this mindset that "Our music is better than yours! I'll prove it to you by beating you up!", and realizing that it's just a different choice. Some people wear sneakers, others wear sandals. It's not that big a deal. Don't hate someone because they're different than you.
From your quote, you seem like you're pretty young and have never experienced what this type of stuff does to people. You've never been (for lack of a better term) musically repressed. Leave the Emo kids alone. Be smart for once. - vind, on 03/28/2008, -1/+6So according to your logic, violence is justified when "good" (a largely subjective judgment) music is at stake? You've taken snobbery to a new level.
- xgambetx, on 03/29/2008, -2/+1i really dont know why people are digging him down hes right.
no its no the record companies doing this. kids do this to get attention. im in high school. i dislike emo kids with a passion. i really have no respect for them. they will bitch about anything and want to kill themselves. bring up their sleeves and they are cut on their arms. and even though they have no problems whatsoever with family. money. or really any problem at all they just want the attention. they are all big dick swingers.- Kronos6948, on 03/29/2008, -0/+3We had Goth's back when I was in high school, who did pretty much the same. But, you have to realize at some point that people do stupid ***** in high school.
Are you a Slayer fan? If so, some of their fans cut themselves. One fan did this, and got his arms put on one of their albums (which rocked by the way). But, to me, that guy is a douche. Would I start a fight with him? No. Why? What good would it do me? How would it improve my life to berate someone who does something that I don't agree with?
These are things you should think about.
I'm no fan of Emo by any stretch, and I do understand about them being whiny about no real problems. Hell, fans of the Cure have been doing the same for almost 20 years. But, you know what? What effect does it have on MY life? None. So, let them be stupid, or let them be attention seekers (which is what this whole "depressed" thing is as a part of being Emo). If anyone was serious about killing themselves, they'd do it. Cutting yourself just slightly on the skin is stupid, but hey, whatever floats your boat.
Beating them up only legitimatizes their depression and need for attention.
Oh, and by the way, my comment about the record companies deals with how big the emo scene has gotten. It wouldn't get big at all if it wasn't pushed by the record companies. THEY dictate what most teens will get into. It's not a choice that kids make without trying to fit in.
- Kronos6948, on 03/29/2008, -0/+3We had Goth's back when I was in high school, who did pretty much the same. But, you have to realize at some point that people do stupid ***** in high school.

- phufufoo, on 03/28/2008, -0/+0Good thing I don't have to dress a certain way to enjoy electro house and trance. Too much of a pussy to stand up for Gabriel & Dresden and Felix Da House cat. "Please don't gut me sir I just want to listen to head nodding music with no meaning!"
- moletimer, on 03/29/2008, -1/+1I never said I'd kill anyone! This is ridiculous. I just dislike the emo subculture! What is so wrong about me having an opinion?
- moletimer, on 03/28/2008, -4/+1Agreed. I don't have a problem with homosexuality, but I ***** hate emos.
- kevin044, on 03/28/2008, -20/+14organizing their right to LOOK STUPID... it reminds me of that picture with the line, "don't cry emo kid..."
- chewbie, on 03/28/2008, -10/+10It's not for you too judge how they want to look
- InspectorGadget, on 03/28/2008, -5/+4Of course it is. The whole point of aesthetics is that people will judge it. If someone looks ridiculous to you, call them on it.
- Kenzan, on 03/28/2008, -2/+2Something tells me that happens to you a lot.

- prefect421, on 03/28/2008, -18/+11Isn't part of being emo the fact that everyone else on the planet can kick your ass, even newborns. And the homophobic part just feels tacked on like it was the only way they could get the police to help them "Help they beat me up because I listen to crappy music, and have a bad haircut" or "Help they beat me up because I am gay" I know which one I would have more sympathy for.
- xeyne, on 03/28/2008, -3/+2i lol's at both, but more in the sense that "gay" = douche bag; person nobody likes; faggle; uncooperative retard
- oblique63, on 03/28/2008, -0/+2If anything, the 'gay' option would make the police want join in on the beating... latin america is still pretty homophobic in a lot of parts...
- bedake, on 03/28/2008, -3/+61Holy ***** when I saw this title in my RSS feed I smirked and thought it was going to be an Onion article. This is sad, while I dont really care for the emo fashion, beating the ***** out of anyone based on how they look and dress is just plain stupid.
- xgambetx, on 03/29/2008, -2/+1its really not how they look its more of a how they act kind of way
- belgar, on 03/28/2008, -4/+67What the hell do Mexicans have against my town, dammit?
http://www.emo.ca/- dagoonmaster, on 03/28/2008, -1/+6u sir are the true victim of this emo movement, my heart goes out to you
- jjmckay, on 03/28/2008, -7/+2Yeah strange since California is all Mexican anyway.. Except AAhhhnold.
- qber, on 03/28/2008, -0/+9.ca is Canada, silly.
- Seifey, on 03/28/2008, -0/+7Emo, Ontario, Canada, California.
- GregFD3S, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1Actually, there is an Ontario in California, but its not the one he is talking abooooot.
- qber, on 03/28/2008, -0/+9.ca is Canada, silly.
- GregFD3S, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1Canada eh??
- Rozenrot, on 03/28/2008, -20/+7I have a new found respect for Mexico. But to be honest, this kind of thing has been going on for a long time. Just the names have changed. Only now instead of me being a crustie and kicking the ***** out of, other punks, skin heads, and heavy metal guys, it's metal guys and punks kicking the ***** out of emo kids. That's all. Such is life. It's just how kids are. The news needs to get over it. ***** a. They should learn how to defend themselves. *****. But I guess emos are a little too prissy for that, well they'll cut themselves more when they don't have that precious hairdo or pretty face anymore.
- Rozenrot, on 03/28/2008, -5/+4Oooh -5 and it's barely been an hour, looks like the emo kids are out today ;D Wassa matter kids?
- dagnome1984, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1Adults do it also, only with government, and they call it democracy.
- belebih, on 03/28/2008, -13/+44I'm not sure what's more pathetic: the macho ***** attitude from the ones that beat them up or the fact that these trendy emo scene kids think they are some sort of relevant social movement.
As someone who just appreciates good music based on artistic merit regardless of scenes and clicks, I say ***** ‘em both.- Napalmhaze, on 03/28/2008, -10/+6You probably dont know what real "emo" music was. Cos it aint what u hear on mtv nowadays that often gets the label "emo". Its just an industry stolen label. And a name for a cultural movement. We all appreciate whatever music we want to. How we dress? Thats our own business. Your logic is flawed. You say ***** 'em both. I say ***** you!
- Robthefrog, on 03/28/2008, -4/+5Long time ago it used to be bands like Doosu or Sunny Day Real Estate... That was actually quality stuff... Now is all this stupid whiny pussy ***** that all sounds the same. I used to see Doosu and Sunny day on a regular basis before all of this emo ***** started. WTF is emo anyway. It's so retarded. People just can't stand to be themselves so they think they have to be all unique and *****. Just remember emo fags, everyone's unique, just like everybody else.
- belebih, on 03/28/2008, -1/+8No sir, that’s exactly my point. I do know what real emo was/is and I can appreciate it. What you have now is not a “cultural movement”. It’s a trend, plain and simple, and it will fade away as such. Dress however you want, no one really cares, just don’t try to pretend it’s anything socially relevant. All you are is material for future VH1 specials and stupid Dane Cook jokes.
- Napalmhaze, on 03/28/2008, -10/+2And what is a trend if not a cultural movement. Life is richer that us all doing the same thing. So what we like to still group together in some ways, but our many groups are all different. Very few of us have the confidence to be truely unique. I dont follow your logic, really, you just seem content on hating those expressing themselves or the scene they subscribe to. How is the way anyone feels about what they do and they like and how they dress any less relevant to anyone elses? We are all free to do what we want. So live and let live.
- Napalmhaze, on 03/28/2008, -7/+2What so people are content to digg down the idea of live and let live? Is freedom dead?
- belebih, on 03/28/2008, -2/+10Cultural movement = Postmodernism
Trend = Parachute pants
You can’t tell the difference? Really? Then I have nothing more to say. - Napalmhaze, on 03/28/2008, -8/+2Ahh ***** that! I'm just this guy y'know! Postmodernism? Thats such a pretentious word. My point remains the same! Live and let live!
- Pixelante, on 03/28/2008, -3/+2"so people are content to digg down the idea of live and let live"?
Yes, because this ever-changing world in which we live in makes us give in and cry, so live and let die. - stormado, on 03/28/2008, -0/+4"Live and HELP live" would be better. If you see someone is getting hurt, even if that someone doesn't see it as such, it is a humanist thing to say something and/or take action.
"Live and let live" is something you say when you don't want to get involved. - Napalmhaze, on 03/29/2008, -2/+1are you saying emo's are hurting themselves and need to be saved from themselves? And im not talking about the stereotype self harming emos cos they are mostly as myth. how is someone dressing a certain way harming anyone?
- Pixelante, on 03/29/2008, -1/+0"it is a humanist thing to say something"
Like, "use a razor blade and cut deeper, from the elbow to the wrist"?

Fail.

- triskele, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1Glad to see Rockabilly is still alive and kickin' especially in Mexico. If I went to Mexico and saw one of these http://www.rockabillybarbers.com/ I'd probably ***** myself.
