- Navicerts, on 01/23/2008, -0/+32WTF are you talking about man, you are not listening; where can i BUY some?!?!
- sodade, on 01/23/2008, -5/+33***** obtrusive advertising. Billboard companies should have to pay an eyesore tax.
- TehSwat, on 01/23/2008, -10/+37Banksy is a fantastic artist, top notch stuff.

- Tunguska, on 01/23/2008, -2/+18Yes, its spelled humor in your country. Get *****.
- HenvY, on 01/23/2008, -2/+17Well, I guess you can't teach a sense of humour.
- bashnu, on 01/23/2008, -3/+17Remove advertising any way you can.
- leerayIG88, on 01/23/2008, -3/+17I'd like to see ADs in our dreams while we sleep.
- leftyslament, on 01/23/2008, -0/+14This pic does not do the piece justice. This is a still of video of a performance art piece by the guerilla artist Banksy. He spray painted this in broad daylight in front of many people. *That* was the art piece, not what appears on the wall. Of course it's sloppy, that isn't the point. It was how and why he did it that make it interesting.
- CabesMojo, on 01/23/2008, -4/+17Hey you shut up right now, this is a deep philosophical moment here ahole! Fight the power! RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!
- tedknaz, on 01/23/2008, -3/+15@ First Comment: Anyone find it funny that his Digg profile photo is a BMW Emblem?
- Mr8lack, on 01/24/2008, -4/+15well grandpa you should move to the country then.
- lostarchitect, on 01/23/2008, -0/+11it's spelled "*****".
oh, right. - StiGUP, on 01/23/2008, -1/+12I want some blue paper..!
- Zippo, on 01/23/2008, -8/+18You're only sold something if you actually go out and buy it. Advertising isn't MAKING you buy anything.
- leftyslament, on 01/23/2008, -0/+10I'm an artist as well, who happens to specialize in guerrilla art. While I don't support wanton destruction of private property, we live in a world where we are assaulted by tons of images against our will. It can range from ads to propaganda, but on a certain level it is all a form of brainwashing in that it imposes cultural values on us, and we don't necessarily have a say in the matter. Guerrilla art is one way of leveling the playing field. In a society where art has been supplanted with mindless entertainment, I feel it is the guerrilla artist's duty to take back our culture from the mass media conglomerates. This is kind of the point of the piece linked to above. Banksy is replacing ads with art, and there is nothing wrong with that.
- Navicerts, on 01/23/2008, -0/+10Why? It's a hell of a lot easier to spray paint that and take a pic than to try to do a good photoshop.
- Jade10145, on 01/23/2008, -0/+10I find a poignant statement more beautiful then an image that is designed to purely sell me something. For me, there is no beauty in art that was designed with no better intention then selling.
Art is allowed to be messy, if it has something to say. - roodammy44, on 01/23/2008, -2/+11The point of it is that it makes you think.
Seen Idiocracy where their clothes are made out of adverts and the guy is paid to say "brought to you by Karl's Jr" at every sentence?
It just makes you think - where does it end? - sam3, on 01/23/2008, -0/+9Does everything need to be analyzed and constantly picked at?
"The joy of not being sold anything." is the message. That's it. Isn't it nice to be expecting an advertisement, and instead just find some free space? - falkonv7l, on 01/23/2008, -0/+8Makes me think of those old Sprite commercials about being an individual and drinking what you want.
- itux1985, on 01/23/2008, -0/+8"Neither fire nor wind, birth nor death can erase our good deeds" -Buddha
- orangefly, on 01/23/2008, -3/+10the way things are going, a passport and a plane ticket....
- CabesMojo, on 01/23/2008, -0/+7My grandma was crushed to death under the impressive color and high velocity graphics of a Coca Cola advertisement on her way back from the grocery store in New York, this is very real, there are victims and it ruins lives.
True story..... - Tyrghast, on 01/23/2008, -2/+9Banksy is the master of irony and graffiti uses irony to reveal blatant problems in society
- i208khonsu, on 01/23/2008, -1/+8A traffic light?
- bonk2k, on 01/23/2008, -1/+7The thing is, advertisers don't care about you. They aren't there to give you pretty pictures and witty slogans for your entertainment pleasure. Sure ads may be entertaining, but the bottom line is getting your dollar. Advertisement is pure insincerity used to get you to buy stuff. It's just nice to see some truth for a change.
- unfinite, on 01/23/2008, -1/+7At least he knows that you don't have to press [Enter] to enter another letter.
- LuckyNYC, on 01/23/2008, -3/+9Some people have the need to feel like a victim of even the most mundane things.
- ausfahrt, on 01/23/2008, -2/+8Where does what end though. My point is that they're waisting their breath. They can say Karl's Jr as often as they like it doesn't affect me, im not gonna go out and spend money at Karl's Jr or whatever. I agree with orangefly's point about the kids cause they might not know that it's just garbage and to tune it out, but you can teach them. I educate myself on my purchases so the adverts are a waste of time, and any tv that is spammed with it is probably not good tv anyways.
- ryan83189, on 01/23/2008, -0/+6When you go to a movie, show time at 8, the movie starts at 9 because of all of the adverts, previews not included.
- lalilulelo, on 01/24/2008, -0/+5The reply option is your friend. Don't be afraid of it. It won't hurt you.
- scubasteve377, on 01/23/2008, -2/+7Personally, I prefer the joy of not paying to visit free websites, listen to free radio, and watch free broadcast television. Digg would pretty much suck ass if I had to pay a fee every time I logged on.
But hey, that's just me. You guys keep on fighting the good fight. - orangefly, on 01/23/2008, -3/+8it's the volume of adds....seen a kids dvd lately....good god....
- inactive, on 01/23/2008, -3/+8I love all this Banksy on digg lately
- heypetray, on 01/23/2008, -0/+4Advertisements promoting... individuality....?

^another Banksy drawing - Jade10145, on 01/23/2008, -1/+5Ummmmm, I can't really think of any millionaire street artists. I think what the artist is commenting on is the how we are assaulted with advertisments. Everyday we are hawked millions of products, every where you look there is someone selling something to you.
As for the street artists making money, hey they have to make a living to. I find it hard to compare corporate advertising with street artists Artists (for the most part) are trying to convey a message as well as earn money. Corporate advertising doesn't try to make you think, they just try to sell you some ***** you more then likely don't need. - Le3f, on 01/24/2008, -0/+4The point is that you should never have to hear that crap.
Good for you if you tune it out... most people think they do.
http://www.winstonsmith.com/images/gallery.big/peo ... - heypetray, on 01/23/2008, -0/+4It would have been an amazing mural. Very uplifting and inspirational. The next day it would be molested by the new McD's ad campaign or a dancing silhouette.
- falkonv7l, on 01/23/2008, -1/+5Feels like an idea is being sold here...
- Le3f, on 01/24/2008, -0/+3Then you watch the movie, full of product placement.... to the point where it feels like my eyeballs are being raped (à la GM's Transformers anyone?).
