Afraid of Clowns?
delsquacho.com — A lot of these people like to say that all clowns are evil. They like to claim that, under the balloons, over-sized shoes, and cheerful makeup, lurks some sort of monster. Generally, the monster in question is a glue-huffing pederast. I ’m not sure why this is. Maybe it’s because most clowns like to carry around a rag soaked in ether, who knows.

- nahsrocketeer75, on 07/11/2008, -1/+7Why the fear of clowns? Maybe because, as this headline notes: "The 'Net is a roiling cauldron of clown hatred'

- Stanleyliew, on 07/11/2008, -0/+10Clowns just FREAK me out! Damn....I always look around just in a case a clown is lurking behind somewhere...
- LopsidedZebra, on 07/12/2008, -0/+5Why so serious?
- AmyVernon, on 07/11/2008, -0/+8omg, we were just talking about this at lunch yesterday in my office. the consensus: clowns are totally creepy. my boss' daughter is 13 and has been afraid of clowns her whole life, one of my friends got creeped out by clowns at the circus when he was a tot (he's in his 50s now). one friend suggested that because you don't know what's behind the makeup. whatever the case, clowns in makeup are just totally creepy.
- JekJob, on 07/11/2008, -0/+8Clowns are scary because of that one episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark.

I'd temporarily forgotten this, and when Bozo died I went to her all sorrowful to tell her the news. Her response?

- SQLDigger, on 07/11/2008, -1/+7The only clown phobia I have is a fear of being governed by clowns. Imagine my constant chagrin . . .

- alphabethsoup, on 07/12/2008, -1/+4my husband was once a clown... but i'm not afraid of him ;)
- zebco, on 07/12/2008, -7/+2Buried for some hipster/blogger trying to point out the obvious in some kind of ironic way. I don't know anyone who's afraid of clowns but most people who claim it probably grew up in the late 70s or early 80s and saw ***** like Poltergeist, where the stuffed clown attacked.
That's trendy? Kid fears from the early 80s? I'd say you'd find more people afraid of Crocs (the *****, rubber shoes) than clowns.
So calm down, hipster writer-wannabe. Just because your pathetic crowd is afraid of clowns doesn't mean that the whole world is. Or that it's new. Or that it's unfounded.
Why don't you stick to writing about how cool PBR is and how digital music is played out. - spookyttws, on 07/12/2008, -0/+4I disagree, like the Burger King well King, there is something ***** creepy about humanoid creatures with one expression that never changes, especially a full blown smile.
- ShootTheCore, on 07/12/2008, -0/+4Oh this is the second time in a WEEK that a Digg article has contained a photo of John Wayne Gacy. I didn't know anything about him and read up on Wikipedia then could hardly get to sleep :'-(
- plup, on 07/12/2008, -0/+7He's dead. But I'm not. I'll be watching you.
- iPirate, on 07/12/2008, -0/+6I blame "Killer Klowns from Outer Space."
- DirtyCash, on 07/13/2008, -0/+5ugh thanks for reminding me of that gem... -_-
- DeviantDragon, on 07/12/2008, -0/+5Well I think it was fear of clowns was helped along by Stephen King's It and good ol' Pennywise.
- icewater, on 07/13/2008, -0/+3Why don't cannibals eat clowns? They taste funny.
- duddy, on 07/13/2008, -0/+3I'm afraid of clowns the same way I'm afraid of black people.

- wild, on 07/13/2008, -0/+5Its not the one clown that scares me. Its the 50 friends that got out of the car with him.
- nymphetamine, on 07/13/2008, -0/+4So... what's with this story still in the upcoming section? Shouldn't it have hit the front page by now?
- SQLDigger, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3`Buncha clowns buried it.
