- LaJefa1004, on 05/13/2008, -7/+4Very cool! There are a couple of blogs I didn't see on your list that some might be interested in:
Sportsshooters.com .. for those who love sports photography
apad.com ... documentary type photos/blog
And my personal favorite because it's the blog my staff at the Sun-Sentinel in South Florida puts out:
http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/click/
Again, love the post and will plan on linking to it. Check us out and if you're into it, please link to ours.
Thanks La Jefa - Rygood, on 05/13/2008, -4/+3@ LaJefa1004 - great blog.. i love that the sentinel is doing that- very forward facing and I think it will be good for you guys. Used to live in miami so very familiar with the sun sentinel.. and thanks in advance for the link!
- diggester, on 05/13/2008, -7/+2This is also a nice photo blog:

- omgsideburns, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1i came here to say the same thing. :(

- kwerfeldein, on 05/13/2008, -5/+5Yap, this kind of posts are always good for every photographer. Rocks. Definately.
- juliehardman, on 05/13/2008, -3/+13What about dpreview.com! Do a search for digital cameras and dpreview is number one. Hell its where most of the blogs listed get their information from including engadget and gizmodo
- thesonofdarwin, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2I agree. There are so many sites NOT listed that many photographers use on a daily basis. That dpreview was completely looked over, and Fred Miranda wasn't added till later...
Rest assured, readers. Photographers have no problem living without 90% of the links posted. - Rygood, on 05/13/2008, -2/+1Julie, I guess when i was n the list together I though that dpreview was so obvious that I didn't need to include it! i mean.. who doesn't use it? I tried to differ my links a but from everything else out there and I'm sure wiised a few, thats wh i asked people to leave suggestions in the omments on the post, so i cold add user submissions later. Thanks for the feedback.
- jezsik, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2No dpreview.com? Nooooooo cookie! That's like putting together a list of search engines you can't live without and neglecting to include google.com. ... and where's www.worth1000.com?
- thesonofdarwin, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2I agree. There are so many sites NOT listed that many photographers use on a daily basis. That dpreview was completely looked over, and Fred Miranda wasn't added till later...
- Coffeedemon, on 05/13/2008, -2/+20Might check this later. Not going to a site that decided it was cool to use the word "porn" in their URL while I'm at work and the monitors are logging lists of URLs. Don't really need the scrutiny.
- Revenuer, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1RGR that
- ErikHarrison, on 05/13/2008, -10/+4My girlfriend's site www.tabsvisions.com She takes really great pictures! Go check it out Diggers!
- lukeduke, on 05/13/2008, -1/+7Is there nudity?
- ErikHarrison, on 05/13/2008, -2/+2rofl no.
- CynicSight, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2Then we don't care.
- ErikHarrison, on 05/13/2008, -2/+2rofl no.
- lukeduke, on 05/13/2008, -1/+7Is there nudity?
- Jsmuli2, on 05/13/2008, -2/+29well, this site is blocked at my office, so I guess I won't be living much longer.
- TheInimitable, on 05/13/2008, -1/+52Can't live without? We'll see about THAT.
- mrdimn, on 05/13/2008, -1/+15The one site, I didn't see but every person should know about before buying a digital camera:
http://www.dpreview.com
This web site really takes a camera apart, shows it's strengths and weaknesses, and then gives you a rating!
One of the best out there!- Doriath, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1The one site what?
- Witchbaby, on 05/13/2008, -5/+1100% totally off the subject:
Does anyone know of a good place online where I could get Photoshop Elements tips?
takk - fani, on 05/13/2008, -0/+11Blocked at work because the freaking website has "porn" in it. Damn...
- RubineBoy, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2At least they don't block you writing or thinking "porn". That would be a disappointment huh.
- brianbennett, on 05/13/2008, -1/+1Apparently they don't know jack ***** about photo.net, that's an awesome site, hardly "old and decrepit."
- tibbon, on 05/13/2008, -7/+5Why does everyone on Digg consider themselves a photographer?
I've worked as a professional photographer on and off and I could live without 90% of those sites.- Dukester, on 05/13/2008, -0/+4Good for you. Now move along.
- iamgreg007, on 05/13/2008, -5/+3While it may not be a site you can't live without, I am an amature photographer with a site of all my photos from around the world. Lots from Central American and Nicaragua, where I lived for seven months in a rural village in the mountains and my digital camera was one of the more advanced things the people had ever seen.
I've also got stories of the crazy adventures that happened to me along the way.
Anyway, please don't bury this link; instead, come check out Adventures of a GoodMan. That's me, Greg Goodman. :)
http://www.adventuresofagoodman.com- fejai, on 05/14/2008, -1/+0Self promotion sucks.
Bad web design sucks.
Bad photography sucks.
Sucks.
- fejai, on 05/14/2008, -1/+0Self promotion sucks.
- U8IK, on 05/13/2008, -2/+3good links maybe but lame (bombastic) title - *60* things you *can't* live without?
It's so hard living these days... - redhotkurt, on 05/13/2008, -5/+4Buried as spam, as if the "gee whiz, thanks for sending this along!" comments above weren't obvious enough.
- webtroll, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2Well I would have tried to survive without them, but my life is a little better for knowing about these sites and portfolios.
- robbob, on 05/13/2008, -0/+9Refused to click. Still livin' and with more free time.
- fotoman, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2Umm... http://www.SportsShooter.com Just a few decent photographers, articles, and photos there :)
- Malevolant, on 05/13/2008, -2/+4I recommend kenrockwell.com for photographers just getting started or non-pros. He is loved and hated, but he does a good job at putting things in layman's terms. Using his testing/recommendations with those from various boards like dpreview, it helped me pick the perfect lenses for my chosen subject(s), i.e., Alaska wildlife and nature. Some samples(300 or so) here...http://flickr.com/photos/amalgamutt
If you are in the market for a new DSLR and/or lenses, the best thing you can do is hammer said sites for all of the information they contain. You'll know exactly what they are and aren't capable of. You can also rent lenses, etc. over the net just like you rent movies at Netflix, pretty cool.
As for the site having the name porn in it, they limit their audience by having porn in the name, regardless of if the site has porn in it or not. The site is good, don;t get me wrong. Most won't go there from work because of the way it looks to those who don't know it's just a photography-centric site. Others have mentioned the site being filtered out by firewalls.
I'd be interested in seeing the best of digg photographers work - kiwimonk, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2I like this one, cause you get to look at pictures.. my favorite part of reading books... http://pixdaus.com/index.php?pageno=170&sort=most
- tgelston, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2You all might want to check out twipphoto.com Podcast for photographers and flikr discussion group.
- grendel, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2i was living fine before this...
...but now, my life has changed forever. - Soave, on 05/13/2008, -1/+5I was surprised to see Digital Photography School so early on the list. It's a great site, but I didn't think it was well known.
I know self-advertisements are always Dugg down, but I wrote an article for them about a week ago and thought I'd share it with Digg:
http://digital-photography-school.com/blog/perfect ...- ninovb, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2I read that article a few days ago... Sweet shot man, So much dedication to get the shot. I love it.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/avizzini/- Soave, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1Thanks!
- Yout, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1Those shots are fantastic. Since I first read that article, I've been going around town thinking "oh man, I wonder what hour of what day of the year would make this the perfect photo!"
- ninovb, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2I read that article a few days ago... Sweet shot man, So much dedication to get the shot. I love it.
- CertifyedGoon, on 05/13/2008, -2/+2I was so excited for this before I realized it said photography.
- tulizx, on 05/13/2008, -1/+1I hear you.
- Carlsen, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1Strobist should be #1.
- rdolishny, on 05/13/2008, -3/+1Any page that refers to 60 links for one topic suggests to me that the person who created the list needs to get outside.
- lecor, on 05/13/2008, -2/+1
Nice list, but why on earth is Digital Photography School in the list. With all due respect, it can hardly be called a valuable photography website, even for beginners… it’s just another mashup of poorly written tutorials submerged within a sea of ads… another one of the authors gimmick websites to generate ad revenue. But if you believe otherwise, please do explain and justify its iinclusion in this list…
Oh, and a great photoblog for those interested, and very much worthy of inclusion… ‘A Daily Dose of Imagery,’ link follows…
http://wvs.topleftpixel.com/ - BigRumpus, on 05/13/2008, -2/+1I'm a photography student, and these links are going to be super helpful. Thanks!
- mitojee, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1Check out the work of Brian Braff. Lots of nice portraits, including some celebrities and female nudes. http://www.brianbraff.com.
- lazyslacker, on 05/13/2008, -2/+1I could have sworn that the link said 60 Pornography Links. I clicked so fast. Imagine my disappointment.
- blueomega137, on 05/13/2008, -0/+0Hahaha, I did the exact same thing. Right kick in the balls. So to speak.
- taciturnman, on 05/13/2008, -1/+0While it may not be a site you can't live without, I am an amature photographer with a site of all my photos from around the world. http://www.youtube.com/user/WoodBedroomFurniture Lots from Central American and Nicaragua, where I lived for seven months in a rural village in the mountains and my digital camera was one of the more advanced things the people had ever seen.
- Verytastycheese, on 05/13/2008, -1/+4I was actually hoping for 60 good pornography links when I first clicked it...
- MrSlumberjack, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2No George Steinmetz!??
http://www.georgesteinmetz.com/ - Knucklecallus, on 05/14/2008, -1/+1I'm living pretty good right now, and I haven't even clicked on the links yet.
- fejai, on 05/14/2008, -1/+0Disappearing comments ftw.
Some useful knowledge; too bad those portfolios are garbage. 95% of them is the same wannabe fashion overly-stylized and overly-photoshopped garbage. I enjoy photographers with substance in their work. - OrangeyTang, on 05/14/2008, -1/+1I've managed to live without them. And I'm sure my life will still be just as complete without them.
- achujens, on 05/14/2008, -1/+0Pff. I can live without Internet.
- ROBINHESSELTINE, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1THIS IS COOL
