Its not bad, but you have to lead them too much with an AK-47. Children are unpredictable and move fast, so you get lots of misses. The H&K MP-5 is much easier to maintain, has less muzzle creep, and it chambers 9MM so you don't go broke mowing down a schoolyard. - cawpin, on 02/12/2009, -8/+211#4 and #5 on this list are completely inaccurate.
#4 - "Today, nearly 40 years later, in the sand and heat of Iraq, American soldiers are once again giving up their own U.S.-manufactured weapons in favor of the AK-47."
No, they're not.
#5 - "On January 17, 1989, Patrick Purdey walked into the Cleveland Elementary School in Stockton, California, armed with a Chinese-manufactured AK-47. It was fitted with a barrel magazine holding 75 rounds -- both of which he bought legally over a gun-shop counter. When he walked out again five children were dead and 29 were injured."
First, the guy's name is Purdy, no E. Second, it's called a DRUM magazine, not a barrel magazine. A barrel is what the bullets fly out of. Third, he bought a semi automatic rifle, not an AK47. Just because they look alike doesn't mean they're the same thing.
It's idiots like the people who wrote this article that I have a problem with. They equate every crime involving a firearm with any and all guns they've ever heard of. Have you ever noticed that the crimes you hear about involving a firearm always also involve a person who is nuts?
It's time to hang it up, AskMen, you've lost any credibility you ever had. - Nicoon, on 02/12/2009, -2/+177I hate it when websites assume that I do or do not know something.
- ryan83189, on 02/12/2009, -9/+142Can any other gun do this?

The AK47 operates like every other battle rifle. It's no easier or harder to teach a child than an AR15. The article makes it seem like AK47s have a mind of their own. Guns are tools. Tools are neutral. "It's a hard heart that kills."
And AK47s are NOT the weapon of choice for mass murderers. Compare the number of killing sprees committed with AK47s to the cereal killings committed with knives, tire irons, strangling, baseball bats etc. Not to mention that most if not all of the killings described in the article were committed with semi-auto AK clones, not actual full-auto AK47s.
People like to spout off about how many people guns have killed. Well millions of guns killed no body today, including my own.
This article is BULL-***** - ElGubrush, on 02/12/2009, -5/+125AK-47 is elegant simplicity, a true adherer to the concept of "keep it simple, stupid"
I bet if aliens invaded they'd find their laser weapons don't work well, and they'd grab AK-47s
I bet Jesus would use an AK-47.... - JCH897, on 02/12/2009, -1/+101Half of these "facts" are not entirely true. Askmen.com has never been a treasure-trove of information, but this just makes me angry. Buried.
- ZincSaucier, on 02/12/2009, -3/+100"The AK-47 is the weapon of choice for U.S. mass murderers"
it's also the weapon of choice for the entire planet. get real askmen. - acman54321, on 02/12/2009, -3/+90Today I didn't even have to use my AK. I gotta say it was a good day.
- Josh396, on 02/12/2009, -2/+86"The AK-47 is the perfect weapon for children" and "The AK-47 is the weapon of choice for U.S. mass murderers"
Something seems wrong with having those two statements within the same article, but I just can't put my finger on why... - tbhurst, on 02/11/2009, -19/+976. It is also the name of a very potent strain of cannabis.
- OriginalLucid1, on 02/12/2009, -0/+775- The AK-47 is the weapon of choice for U.S. mass murderers
Complete *****. - Optiks, on 02/12/2009, -2/+74whahahaa! *lmao*

- MiDri, on 02/12/2009, -3/+71Joker, "Do you kill women and children?"
Gunner, "Yap"
Joker, "How do you kill women and children?"
Gunner, "Easy, you just don't lead them so much!" - buzzd1ggity, on 02/12/2009, -18/+75I think this a great article.... but if AK47's are this powerful... you gotta wonder: what's an AK-48 capable of?
- douggmc, on 02/12/2009, -1/+58A+ on the content ... agreed.
But ... "cereal" killings? Fruity Pebbles don't kill people, people kill people. - deacont23, on 02/12/2009, -0/+51You're right! You go broke when you buy the MP-5 instead of the ammo!
- ShiftyBizniss, on 02/12/2009, -3/+46what a redneck
- bixby1, on 02/11/2009, -13/+56Dugg for the description alone. OK, now I'll go read the article.
- eurodele, on 02/12/2009, -6/+48The AK47 is indeed a formidable weapon and quite dangerous in the wrong hands.
However, as pointed out in the article, some of the "wrong hands" belong to mass murderers. Unfortunately, governments and their military personnel are the busiest mass murderers in history, having killed a couple of hundred million people in the last century alone. It follows that the last thing that human beings can afford is for their governments to monopolize these and similar weapons. Obviously, the only way to avoid a horrendous continuation of governmental mass murder is for the people to deny their governments an arms monopoly, and learn how to safely use and keep the AK47 and other efficient means of self-defense as their civic duty.
After all, with reasonable care, guns can be kept out of another problematic set of hands, those of children. This is very fortunate, for public ownership of weapons like the AK47 constitute the sole deterrent - the one and only real obstacle - to the lethal misbehavior of any government bent on robbing its children of freedom, dignity, and a decent future. Only when the public owns and knows how to use military-grade weapons can the premier mass murderers known as governments be properly kept in check.
The Founding Fathers of the United States were not just gun-crazy woodsmen who got their jollies by popping off rounds for kicks. They understood that with few exceptions, governments have always become the enemies of the people; even if they do not start out that way, evil people desiring wealth and power naturally tend to take charge of them as the best means to their own nefarious ends. That's why the Founding Fathers wanted every responsible U.S. citizen to own an AK47 or other military-grade rifle, and froze this crucial imperative into law by means of the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution.
Anyone opposing the 2nd Amendment, the sacred self-protection clause applying to all US citizens, is a dangerous enemy of decent people everywhere. The need for firearm care and safety is obvious; the major operative concern is the deterrence of governmental oppression of the populace. Let everyone take heed, for the criminal US Congress is now trying to disarm the populace once again. It is time for everyone to notify his or her legislators that this is utterly unacceptable.
Act now, or our children will face a danger far greater than responsible public ownership of guns. They will face robbery and enslavement by the very people attempting to criminalize gun ownership. - MWeather, on 02/12/2009, -3/+39Imagine what the AK-74 can do!
- RumpleForeskin3, on 02/12/2009, -2/+37But they have great articles on improving cunnilingus and introducing bondage to a relationship!

- notoneofus, on 02/12/2009, -0/+27I can only assume they meant drum magazine.
- Ishiguro, on 02/12/2009, -1/+27You actually made a unintentional savvy insight. Arms technology has basically been halted by the NFA'34 GCA'68 and McClure-Volkner'86 acts which make it nearly impossible for small arms development by individuals. Individuals have developed the best small arms. Companies tend to develop crap.

- DrDragun, on 02/12/2009, -1/+20LOL at the dual drum magazine he puts on at the end. Makes the thing look like a giant ***** and balls.
Cool video though... that thing dumped 300 rounds pretty quick... I want one :) -
