- DrMcFondled, on 11/03/2009, -1/+18I can see it now, Nicholas cage from National treasure on a hunt to find the greatest treasure of WWII, hitler's mustache comb
- Shitokki, on 11/03/2009, -0/+9Sounds incredible. Also sounds like it cost them major big bucks. Would love to see it.
- djAnakin, on 11/03/2009, -1/+9Why is there a WWII museum in NOLA?
- usernamefordig, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5There are parts of the museum that show the "horrors of war". Pictures and videos that shouldn't been seen by kids are setup in such ways that you have to be a certain height to view.
- inactive, on 11/04/2009, -1/+5Finally a WWII documentary.
- BotchaMcCoola, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4I bet I know where it is. I'd check Stalin's corpse. I'd bet he was buried with that comb in his pubic hair.
- mille716, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4It seemed to me all these effects are intended to make the viewer understand what it was like to fight in the war, to actually be there. I'd argue you do far more of a service to the veterans by making viewers understand the hell they went through than watching another monotone documentary.
- escottberg, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3another reason I need to get to NOLA. This looks awesome!
- paulvq, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_World_War_II ...
- blizzardice1, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2I can't wait to go back to the museum to see this.
- BotchaMcCoola, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2The WW2 exhibits at the USAF Museum outside Dayton are outstanding too.
- jeremiahjw, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1As a history subject I love WWII, and will certainly have to go to this museum if I'm ever in New Orleans.
- mabba18, on 11/04/2009, -1/+2Yes, but they aren't meant to be educational.
I'd have no problem if it was "3 Cool Things About Call of Duty" - pagemap, on 11/04/2009, -2/+3I so want to see this, but that would mean I need to travel to New Orleans. *****.
- inactive, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Because of the enormous library of WW2 movies focused on black Americans contribution to the war effort, where else would you put it?
- cajungator3, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1The D-Day museum in New Orleans freaking rules!
- inactive, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1I've been waiting decades for one!
- cajungator3, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1It is built on the site that the Higgins boats were built. It is a really cool place to go, especially what you see when you first walk in. I've been dying to see the the Vietnam exhibit that they just added....even though it is the WWII museum.
- aeck, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Thank god the article was written as a list with numbers! I don't know how I could have read it otherwise!
- IamZed, on 11/04/2009, -2/+2Yeah, move it to D.C. where it belongs.
- appleseed1234, on 11/03/2009, -1/+1I'm glad to hear that they're putting such a high priority on realism, something Hollywood doesn't do too much these days. And Tom Hanks ftw.
- deadlove75, on 11/04/2009, -1/+1NOLA is where the Higgin's Boat was designed and built. It allowed for beach landings such as Normandy and the Philippines. Without NOLA's Higgin's Boat, we wouldn't have won the war.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Higgins_boat - mabba18, on 11/04/2009, -2/+1If your child isn't old enough to understand what war truly is, then they shouldn't be taken to a war museum.
Part of the problem is people teaching their kids that war is big cool tanks and planes and awesome explosions and the like. There aren't such things as the "horrors of war". War is horror in it's entirety. - inactive, on 11/04/2009, -1/+0Oh cut the BS, I'm sure you've played plenty of violent video games.
- mabba18, on 11/04/2009, -6/+4Sorry, but this sounds terrible. Sensationalism and over-dramatization are never good things. Jazzing up the horrors of war (even one fought for the noblest of reasons) with special effects is tasteless. War is a sad, and devastating event. It is not meant to be exciting or entertaining.
A war museum is not Disneyland. People should walk out understanding why war should never be forgotten, and why it should never be repeated.
They should not be thinking "That was cool, let's go again!"
