- digitalArtform, on 11/03/2009, -2/+40Don't resize my browser.
- Wakkyweed, on 11/03/2009, -3/+36The best toy is a plastic bag. You can put it over your head and pretend to be a spaceman.
- MCA2142, on 11/02/2009, -3/+34The most timeless toy.

I had one growing up. - Awwzm, on 11/02/2009, -2/+30Legos will always be awesome!
- cogitocogito, on 11/03/2009, -0/+26Legos are awesome until you step on loose pieces with bare feet, which you will do approximately 500 times as a kid. OWWW!
- eastwood24, on 11/02/2009, -1/+23And the cheapest and most classic toy of all....good ol' 'stick n' rock'
- Cowzeetgrass, on 11/03/2009, -0/+20Don't overlook mud. Hours of enjoyment, plus it pissed off your parents when you walked into the house covered in it.
- anotherjack, on 11/03/2009, -0/+19The essential missing toy: Big wheel. It was one of the first toys to use that blow-molded plastic and was a great improvement on the tricycle, which would topple early riders. You looked like you were Easy Rider in one of those things, and you could do cool skids.
- anotherjack, on 11/03/2009, -0/+18It's actually worse for an adult. It increases in proportionate pain as you get heavier, so that an adult and a child will step on roughly the same Lego, the child will hop in pain, but the adult foot will actually bleed.
- rmxz, on 11/03/2009, -1/+17Why did you configure your browser to allow websites to do that?!?
Firefox Preferences->Content->JavaScript->Advanced "Allow scripts to move or resize existing windows" - numberneal, on 11/02/2009, -0/+1525 to click
- RedhookESB, on 11/03/2009, -1/+16no one configured anything assmat, it's a default setting.... so thanks for the tip.
- DevinWatson, on 11/03/2009, -0/+12Freaking sideshows...
- Drakk0n, on 11/03/2009, -0/+11gimme a cardboard tube from a roll of wrapping paper and I had the most awesome lightsaber of all.
- anotherjack, on 11/03/2009, -0/+11This is a pretty good list of classics - Tonka trucks do all the things you need in a sandbox or mud puddle. Electric trains are fun and act as little physics experiments. Playdoh and crayola are great quality, nontoxic, and some kids really do like the taste of the Playdoh. Nerf anything is a good time. Hot wheels and matchbox are using the same molds over an over lately, but they are also busting out the cool paintjobs. Legos are good for kids that are old enough to have a skillful and strong grip - they're really hard to snap together! Legos are also destined for the arch of your foot, and you need a whole lot of them to get anything impressive going. The Little Red Wagon is almost not a toy, because kids use it as a real transporting tool, but it's okay to market it as a toy, because nobody goes to the Kids Tool Store. Boardgames teach taking turns, but Checkers is more exciting than Monopoly - that game always ends in a slow, painful train wreck as the losers fall repeatedly on the expensive properties. Mr Potato Head is okay but I wouldn't cross the street to play with one. Yeah, solid list - except for the Gund Sesame Street Stuff - why those?
- MrBoog, on 11/03/2009, -1/+10I always wanted 9 puppies in a wagon when I was a kid
- Rain12913, on 11/03/2009, -0/+9I'm not gonna lie, I'd read the Crayon and Refrigerator ones.
- JeffRyemon, on 11/03/2009, -0/+9Buried for lack of Slinky.
- ibdav, on 11/03/2009, -0/+8What about Cup-and-ball? :O
- CalvinDK, on 11/03/2009, -1/+8Best comment of the day. I freak out every time by son has one in his hands.
- NJank, on 11/03/2009, -0/+6And even when those skids wore flat spots and holes in the wheels, it still worked. You just got used to the thumpa-thumpa-thump as you rode.
- fragomatik, on 11/03/2009, -5/+11I really hate that *****. Resizing my browser earns them an instant BURY.
- jbmcb, on 11/03/2009, -0/+5Look for "Lego Creator," they are just big boxes of regular Lego bricks. You can also get the tubs of standard bricks for $15-$25.
- mojoel, on 11/03/2009, -0/+5My Slinkies always magically transformed into a mess of tangled up spring. It was a feature, I think.
- CalvinDK, on 11/03/2009, -0/+5Board/card games and Wii games are always enjoyed, with or without the kids.
Or on the other hand, chocolate sauce, hand cuffs and some adult toys may seem cliche' but are always fun. Especially on xmas, just remember to have another gift to tell the family about. Pearl necklace? - Gr00ver, on 11/03/2009, -0/+5What rolls down stairs
alone or in pairs... - Lith25, on 11/03/2009, -1/+6I can't believe you would actually take the time to tell us that
- anotherjack, on 11/03/2009, -2/+7Welcome to the internet. They have search engines, and eBay, and craigslist and lots of other stuff!. You will have a ball! Also, you will find ways make your weiner bigger, and urgent notices that febreze kills cats, and that "they" are canceling Sesame Street, but those are lies. Also, don't click on anything labeled goatse or watch any videos featuring women and cups. For more info, click here..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0 - MrSkills, on 11/03/2009, -1/+6We could only afford one lego :(
- Drakk0n, on 11/03/2009, -0/+4Where is Johnny Switchblade: Adventure Punk? Bag o' Glass? or the full Bag o' line...
- mescad, on 11/03/2009, -0/+4I originally thought the same about the Sesame Street toys, but then I remembered that I have a stuffed Oscar on my shelf from 25 years ago. Those characters are timeless (as long as the show is still being aired for new viewers) and it's one of those toys I never threw out. The timelessness of the toys I guess, is that today's Oscar doesn't look much different from the decades old one I have.
As for Lego requiring a strong grip, they also make a line called Duplo which are easier for younger children to push together or pull apart. The company used to have another line, called Primo or Baby, for smaller children, which were even easier to push together, but from looking at their website it looks like those are discontinued. - jerrycan, on 11/03/2009, -0/+4What about the GREEN MACHINE! WHAT A RIDE!!! YEAH!
- wefem1, on 11/03/2009, -6/+10Buried as an advertisement for 15 products made to look like a slideshow.
- MorbenDK, on 11/03/2009, -0/+4I know right--I remember one time my friend and I got in trouble because we were throwing stones at passing cars. So we stopped doing that and started a stick-fight . good times
- inactive, on 11/03/2009, -1/+5I still have a giant box of legos in my room. They're pretty much family heirlooms now.
- Phil13, on 11/03/2009, -0/+4I demand someone writes a cracked article for each so I can subsequently read and digg them.
- lunachique, on 11/03/2009, -0/+4My little brother and I had a Dukes of Hazard Big Wheel when we were little. There was a campground we'd go to every summer that had a hill with a hugely steep grade and nothing to stop you except a chain link fence at the bottom. The spinout brake had long since broken off so we wore out many pairs of shoes trying to stop without getting our ankles caught in the flying pedals. Good times.
- Rain12913, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3Wait, you're married and you've never gotten another adult a Christmas present? I've been buying Christmas presents for my parents and various girlfriends since high school started. Have you just been sitting the holiday out or did they just tell you that Santa's not real?
Anyway, put your wife in control of buying the present for the in-laws. It's kind of an unspoken rule that we have to deal with our own parents' gifts when we're in a relationship. - asnider, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3I came to say the same thing. Nothing wrong with books, but they aren't toys.
- jerrycan, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3Dan Aykroyd! Love that skit.
- iBleeedOrange, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3I've never seen a video were you could "resize it" that's pretty awesome
- Rain12913, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3"CABBAGE PATCH KIDS: One look at their cheek-pinchingly cute faces and it's easy to see why these dolls are still so popular."
I'm not gonna lie, those things have always horrified me. I never had any of my own, but I'd see them sometimes at a girl's house and they'd freak me out. They look like they have fetal alcohol syndrome or some kind of genetic disorder. - Greengoo, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3and over your neighbor's dog. What's great for a snack, fits on your back?
- Darrelc, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2better than clothes
- asnider, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2Mega Bloks are compatible with LEGO bricks, but the quality is a lot poorer. I don't think I ever managed to break a LEGO brick as a kid (unless I did it on purpose), but I managed to break a surprising number of Mega Bloks.
That said, they'll do if they're the only option available. - asnider, on 11/03/2009, -1/+3I'm slightly offended that you care.
- acaudel, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2Johnny Space Commander! It's a very popular product.
- BubblesTheChimp, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2Or use a toilet paper roll if you want to have Yoda's light saber!
- Lith25, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2action figures!
