- gvsurunner22, on 06/09/2008, -3/+18Dugg for WWDC news that is actually related to developing!
- iNunchuk, on 06/09/2008, -4/+16Wow, this is probably the best rumor I've ever heard for tomorrow's WWDC. Seriously, a Cheap Mac? This thing will sell like wildfire! and its a Mac Mini update that has a cooler name and a smaller form factor.
- backin5minutes, on 06/09/2008, -0/+9new mac mini.... interesting steve. interesting..
i'm still waiting for my tablet. - thecoleorton, on 06/09/2008, -0/+9hmm. that isn't the glossy apple logo apple has been putting on similar form newer products either a la imac and time capsule.
this product would fit wwdc's theme/purpose though. - TheWorm, on 06/09/2008, -0/+9The Macbook Pro I'm using right now has a front loading drive. It's not centered.
But I agree with you that the leaked webpage approach to Apple fakes are never right. Apple isn't going to slip up and accidentally post a page like that, that conveniently only one person saw, and was able to take a screencapture of. - ophello, on 06/09/2008, -3/+8I hereby declare this to be real. All those who disagree will respond below. When the Mac Fusion is revealed, you must all accept my judgement on these matters to be accurate and henceforth your rights to comment on the legitimacy of leaked apple product photos are revoked.
If I am wrong, take a screenshot and post it on your wall, and then pat yourself on the back for getting something right for a change. - alpha88, on 06/09/2008, -0/+4And yet they can say Windows Vista is not working properly, full of flaws, always crashing, etc. on their TV advertisements?
Gimme a break. You all ***** suck at giving reasons why this is fake. - alpha88, on 06/09/2008, -1/+5Oh yeah. It looks identical.
http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/7912/appletvlj1 ...
Oh hold on, no it doesn't! All it has similar is the shape (shared between many Apple products, called uniformity).
Oh wait, my bad, you said it was a colour negative. Let me just fix that.
http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/6247/appletv2ji ...
NOWWW I see the resemblance. Gosh. You're clever. - vault, on 06/09/2008, -8/+12Obvious fake.
- alpha88, on 06/09/2008, -0/+3I hope you're right. I reaaally hope you're right. The (red) iPhone is designed sooo nicely. I'd buy one instantly.
And this looks promising too, but unfortunately, upon the inspection of existing pages on Apple.com, it looks like the template, most of the sections, the buy now button, the intel core 2 duo blurb, etc. was copied (the words, not the visuals) from the Mac Mini page. If it's a replacement for the Mac Mini that would make sense though. - vault, on 06/09/2008, -0/+3yeah how'd that work out, borinda? No Mac Fusion eh?
- benologist, on 06/09/2008, -0/+2Wow, this is probably the fakest rumor I've ever heard today.
- Why would Apple would launch a bridge for Windows developers at an Apple developers' conference?
- Why in 2008 would you waste box space telling developers they can run virtual computers?
- Why would the computer make it easier to port software to OSX?
- Why would porting software to OSX be described as leaving Windows behind?
- Why would it be cheaper? It doesn't say cheaper anywhere it says it won't break your bank. - mmmmmbiscuits, on 06/09/2008, -0/+2HA! I'm glad you remembered to come back and rub it in. Priceless...
borninda818, I guess you could always pretend and draw a DVD slot on your apple TV with a Sharpie. - ophello, on 06/09/2008, -2/+4Dont bother talking about what apple would "never" do. you'll just be made a fool of.
The mac mini has a front loading optical drive. now please tell me what the ***** you're talking about. - ResonantToe, on 06/09/2008, -0/+2That WASN'T centered.
- rebotfc, on 06/09/2008, -1/+3no, it's very good logic, Apply will never say that because it suggests developing on any other mac does "Break the bank". Anyhow, how is this device different from a mac mini?
- ophello, on 06/09/2008, -1/+3you dont give the people much credit. If this is fake, it is a well-done fake.
- alpha88, on 06/09/2008, -0/+2Apple Fusion, not VMWare Fusion. What's with all these failed attempts at proving this is fake? We'll find out soon enough.
- samespbn, on 06/09/2008, -1/+3I want it!
- alpha88, on 06/09/2008, -0/+2The front drive in the picture IS centered. It seems like it's not because you can't see the full curve of the edge on the right side. Why can't you see it? Because it's a horribly made photoshop. Obviously fake.
- Falldog, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1Do be fair, no better way to hide a fake than to take a picture of it on your monitor.
- utahgeek, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1Nitpick.
Did I say it was a color negative? No. If you'd read the comment closer, I said "looks more like a color negative of an Apple TV". It wouldn't be hard for someone to make a color negative, then lighten up the dark areas a bit.
You can't dispute the fact it is faked beyond fake. I mean, come on. The image is janky, the paragraph below it isn't up to Apple standards, there is 0 Linux support from Apple, it's a camera shot of a screen instead of a screenshot (I ALWAYS jump for my camera whenever I need to take a picture of something on my monitor), and there is no URL shown for the page. It wouldn't be hard for someone to save a real Apple webpage to their hard drive, modify it, then open it in a web browser.
Even if the image isn't an exact color negative, the fact's are - its still fake. - ophello, on 06/09/2008, -1/+2come on. you have to do better than this. thats the reason its fake?
gimme a break. if its geared towards developers, apple doesnt need to remind them its a processor every time it is mentioned. your logic doesnt make much sense to me. - ophello, on 06/09/2008, -1/+2too bad you're wrong and this is real.
I wish I could bet all the naysayers money via paypal that this is real, along with the red iphone shots. - ophello, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1whats your point?
- rebotfc, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1Indeed the mac mini is just fine for a developer who doesnt want to full commit to a pro/imac.
- TheWorm, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1Where have you been? It began a month ago.
- HA5TY, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1yeah, I think apple is switching there white apple logos to the black one. I'm pretty sure this is fake.
- alpha88, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1Yes I was nitpicking.
Yes it's an obvious fake.
However, it's a very good photoshop, which wasn't modified from the Apple TV press images out there. The case colour is very clearly the same as used on Mac / Macbook Pros, and it's at a different angle than any Apple TV image that I've ever seen.
Yes, the paragraph is fairly poorly written, and yes Linux support would never show up in 10,000 years. And in fact, I'm not even sure if they'd use (or be able to use) the Windows logo.
The camera shot of the screen is to make it look like previous leaked photos from the past which ended up being correct. However it was done on a photoshop layout, not a web page. But the method used still matches the desired affect nicely.
It is definitely fake, no question about it, but you have to give it credit for being a fairly well done fake, with quite a bit of effort put into it, compared to most. - alpha88, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1I think it's fake too, but not for the same reason. Macbooks and Macbook Pros have lit up logos on the back of them, and they're white so they let through the light from the LCD on the reverse side.
The device pictured has the same white logo that would be lit up by an LCD on the reverse side, but the reverse side in this case is on the bottom, so I don't believe they'd design it like this.
Also, closer examination of the product shows that the perspective of the logo is off, and the perspective on the right edge of the device is just plain odd. - diggcommentguy, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1If by well-done fake, you mean piss-poor fake, that is.
- ophello, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1From the mac mini apple site: "Mac mini makes it easy and affordable to work with digital photos, movies, music, and the web. And now it all happens with the blazing speed of the Intel Core 2 Duo."
You were saying? - samuel514, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1wrong !
- alpha88, on 06/09/2008, -1/+2Read it again asshat.
- alpha88, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1That's like saying "Why would Apple possibly release the iPhone 3G.....? It would just be another iPhone.."
"Product Updates" is a term that could be used in this situation I believe. - ECas123, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1http://www.linksys.com/iPhone
- Cybrwolf, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1Nice to see that I was right!
- ophello, on 06/09/2008, -2/+2thats really ***** logic.
- rebotfc, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1it's called brand marketing,
- alpha88, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1"without breaking the bank"
And they still haven't. - ophello, on 06/09/2008, -4/+4Fake - Apple doesn't ever take photos of its products at a 24 degree angle to the left.
- alpha88, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1Wow.
First of all, I replied to the comment "Mac will never use the language without breaking the bank". Which they clearly have as I have proven with my screenshot.
Second, read the text in the image again, it says "WITHOUT breaking the bank". Why the ***** would Mac, or anyone for that matter, claim that they break the bank?
Double ***** fail. - MastaShake11, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1So do I!
- colincornaby, on 06/09/2008, -2/+2The product picture is obviously fake.
Developers aren't exactly begging for a development system either. The Mac Mini works just fine. - diggcommentguy, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1Wow.
You're a ***** dumbass. First of all, "Mac" doesn't make computers. A Mac is a computer made by Apple, Inc. "Mac" is not a company.
Secondly, my point was that yes, they may have used that phrase before, but it was in reference to SOFTWARE, and I've never seen Apple claim that their other hardware was expensive, even when it was for a cheaper model, such as the Mac mini, plus it would be stupid buisness wise to say that their other computer models do actually "break the bank."
Triple ***** fail, you sir, are a troll. - alpha88, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1Yeah... of.. course they... wouldn't...
http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/715/picture1kd7 ...
***** fail. - ophello, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1its called a ***** reason to call this a fake
- diggcommentguy, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1No, they would never use it to insinuate that other Mac's do "break the bank."
***** fail. - alpha88, on 06/10/2008, -1/+1No troll here. Just trying to explain something to a dumbass.
I wasn't the one who said "Mac will never use...blah blah" I was responding to that comment. How can you not understand the concept of responding, when you have done so multiple times already?
Secondly, your point is moot. The phrase was "never use the language". It never said what it referred to or when.
Finally, they're not insinuating their other macs break the bank. They're insinuating that their competitors break the bank. That's what companies do.
Also, please note that you only made two points, and therefore it could not possibly be a triple ***** fail.
Quintuple ***** fail, my 'friend'. - Falldog, on 06/09/2008, -2/+1While Mac wouldn't, Apple might.
