- TGMD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Use VLC, It's way better and it has the kind of functionality built in... One problem though it's open source so the UI sucks....
Hey no one ever said a geek knew how to make things cool... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Web Version? DS Browser or PSP Browser, either would make the most rediculous remote ever.
- zbilly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7just used shared librarys, whats the point of this?
- vypergts, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Remote Desktop?
- MrZop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2if they build a Wifi ipod, you can be damn sure it would be a sweet-ass itunes remote.
- adinb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This app is pretty unimpressive until it allows the ability to change which remote speakers the "server" is playing to.
I can use VNC or 10 other dedicated apps to remote control iTunes, but nothing (other than VNC) gives the ability to select a new airport express (aka "remote speaker").
Other OS X apps that do the same thing: Dot-Tunes (X-platform), Coverbuddy, iTunes Remote, VNC.... - Goosemaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2?
explain yourself.
let me guess: you have a creative Audigy card.
If so, go to the quicktime preferences, and under sound out, change it to 16bit, 44.1 hz
If that fixes it, the problem was that creative audigy 2 cards resampel everything to 48hz expect DVD-audio - adinb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1my bad! What other ones did I miss?
- netrag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1don't forget "remote remote"
www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/25736 - Gardenhead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This'll be great with the ds browser when it comes out.
- Livewire, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2just a guess, but I think this is meant for people who have gigs of music on their main system in their den/bedroom, and stream that music to thier home theater using an airport. now they can control itunes remotely using another computer in the house, or even better a laptop with wifi. would be great for simple DJing at parties.
- netrag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1there is another one called tune connect, but remote remote is one of the better ones. none of them can change the remote spleakers because most of them are applescript apps and that is unfortunately not a scriptable item.
- RaGa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have an airport express, a main pc with all my MP3's on it running itunes with the library shared, and I control what is played through my laptop because itunes allows sharing of libraries.
How is this different?? Unless I am understanding this wrong = this looks like a redundant app. - mushoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This isn't of any use for many of us who updated to 7 and are now stuck listening to an iTunes that sounds like ass. I won't downgrade, Apple better come up with a fix soon.
- durex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually, this doesnt (for all users at least). I have an audigy, made these changes and iTunes still sounds like ass.
- hurfydurfur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1VLC is pretty neat for sure. You can stream across the network. For example, I had a Mac and a PC with monitors next to each other and I enabled the "video wall" module and the network streaming to split the image across the bezels (2x 20" dells). It was pretty neat but the stretching didn't quite line up because VLC was a tad different cross-platform.
Essentially, this was over the network remote control because you could fast forward and they would both stay in sync. - hurfydurfur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Changing remote speakers would be cool. Could you play to all the speakers and just turn off the ones you don't want to hear? IE: "Living Room" + "Computer" under "multiple speaker" output, and then just run multiple outs all the time.
- sneaknz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hi,
does anyone know of a web based remote control, that'll allow us to setup playlists, change tracks, change volume etc.
in work we would like to be able to control what is being played on the music server at any one time, preferably from a web browser. VNC or remote desktop is ok, but too much hassle for the users.
in other words, the server has the mp3s and itunes on and the speakers plugged into it, everyone in the office would like to be able to add/change what is currently being played remotely.
the only one i've found is PatioTunes, but its pretty limited and not that good. another one is called Dot-Tunes allows you to download any tune to your pc and play it from there, but we want to select and play it on the server.
has any body found anything that'd do this? and run on a windows server. i could probably write my own in c#, but you know how it is...
cheers
Paul - THEM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is how I use it. I have an eMac that has my music library and my 2.1 speakers. I have an iBook with crappy speakers. Do I want to use shared playlists on the MacBook or just control the eMac from my MacBook?
- THEM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Your understanding is wrong. This is controlling iTunes on one Mac from another. Say you have a mini connected to your bitchin TV and sound system. You can VNC into it and all the hassle, or just run this program and control iTunes on the mini from any other computer.
- thebraineater, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1why not use the remote itunes comes with?
- Dames, on 10/12/2007, -7/+237 Diggs and front page?
Pretty spitty app though.

What is Digg?
