- cogitocogito, on 10/03/2008, -11/+6458 MB download for a minor update = bloated *****
- Dagreenman, on 10/03/2008, -7/+58STOP ASKING ME TO DOWNLOAD SAFARI!!!!!!! why do they have to try to shove that ***** down my throat?
- resolve, on 10/03/2008, -3/+46yet I still have to download a 73mb file that's an entire new iTunes AND quicktime standaloner installer. Why even make an Apple Software Update utility if it's just going to download the entire thing?
There is such a thing as "patches" that the itunes team should read about.... - inactive, on 10/03/2008, -7/+30where's my "monitor folders" option, stevey?
- ninjadave, on 10/03/2008, -5/+26Linux? What's that? Oh that's right... they don't make Linux for people who want to enjoy their computers.
- IllBeBack, on 10/03/2008, -3/+23Hey, "It Just Works™"
And if it doesn't work how you need or want, too damned bad. - pacman122, on 10/03/2008, -4/+22itunes 8 deleted all of my playlists. Fix it the first time Steve!
- dalittle, on 10/03/2008, -1/+15How hard is it to code software to remember that I DON'T WANT SAFARI. That is by far the biggest reason I stopped using itunes.
- newsheatdotcom, on 10/03/2008, -0/+11Agreed. Why Apple hasn't come out with a patch structure for applying updates is beyond me. Other than forcing me to re-install every other piece of software they make for my PC and re-associating themselves with every file extension known to man there shouldn't be a reason you can't just apply a 5-10 meg patch.
- webborocks, on 10/03/2008, -0/+11yeah they should have started that a long time ago but then there would be no chance for them to force safari and quicktime onto us
- Barbarino, on 10/03/2008, -0/+108.0 has ruined my computer, every time a track changes it locks up my computer for 3 seconds or so...
I'm getting to the point with itunes it may be time to find an alternative. - scarper86, on 10/03/2008, -0/+9In Windows Update just right-click on any update and choose "hide" and it won't show up again.
- Infidelcastr0, on 10/03/2008, -3/+11A Patch?, but doesn't iTunes Just Work™?
A real fix would be not forcing that bloated, buggy, hijackware Quicktime on you. - krystalo, on 10/03/2008, -5/+12Haven't you learned yet? Whatever Apple does is best for you.
- TVarmy, on 10/03/2008, -0/+7Agreed. It runs fast enough on OSX, but they should really incorporate a proper patching system rather than just reinstall the thing every time even the tiniest update comes out.
I use FooBar when I'm running Windows, for the record. - Infidelcastr0, on 10/03/2008, -0/+7And it's horrible, it takes over your computer, it constantly has problems, the UI sucks, the browser integration that it forces on you is atrocious and it refuses to cooperate with you. I consider it malware.
- phr0stbyte, on 10/03/2008, -1/+8man up..nobody likes sissy
- benologist, on 10/03/2008, -1/+7* every two - three weeks
- robodud3, on 10/03/2008, -3/+9Does it fix the BSOD with HP printers and touches?
- Soave, on 10/03/2008, -0/+6How about bringing back the ability to:
- hide the Genre panel when in browse mode
- hide the stupid arrows next to my songs that link to the iTunes store; I have no interest in the iTunes store
And while you're at it, an ability to sort by missing files (i.e. when they have an exclamation point next to them). And automatically go to the original folder when trying to locate missing files, rather than going to the folder of the last artist I had to re-locate. - gotjpeg, on 10/03/2008, -0/+6No that's a feature
- TVarmy, on 10/03/2008, -0/+6Check the hertz setting on your soundcard. If that's too high, that may be causing problems.
- webborocks, on 10/03/2008, -0/+6It sucks its 72 mb do downlaod this everytime especially when you got a download limit!
- AbeX, on 10/03/2008, -0/+5It's NOT a patch. That's the whole point...
- stellamaris, on 10/03/2008, -0/+5We have to be fair. We drank every time Biden said "fundamental" too.
- Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -2/+7i want it too, but it'll never happen.
that would mean apple would cooperate when you get music from sources other than the itunes store. - TriZz, on 10/03/2008, -0/+5It's because you're Canadian.
- Galaxylander, on 10/03/2008, -0/+5Government *****, Apple already released some info about that. You CAN use them, but the account must be made with a credit card.
- p1eiades, on 10/03/2008, -0/+4Dugg for "While we were all busy playing Vice Presidential Debate drinking games..." Every time she says maverick....
- TriZz, on 10/03/2008, -0/+4Restart your computer and your touch...it won't error anymore.
- inactive, on 10/03/2008, -0/+4not playing on iTunes though (because they don't make iTunes for Linux)
- tedrock, on 10/03/2008, -0/+4i didn't know linking to a different story about the same subject was considered a dupe...
- theCreator79, on 10/03/2008, -1/+4Does it fix my whole MP3 collection sounding garbled and warped (only in iTunes)?!?!
- themadhatter444, on 10/03/2008, -1/+4Unfortunately, AirTunes over AppleTV is STILL broken. Don't you love when minor software patches completely obliterate the entire reason for your purchase? I made the switch to avoid this sort of thing.
- Revacard, on 10/03/2008, -0/+3Anyone find this this issue with iTunes 8.0 annoying? I have an iMac. When I want to maximize the player from being a miniplayer, I click the maximize button, the iTunes player will still be in the background. I have to put iTunes in focus when I maximize it so it won't be in the background. Why did they do this? Is there a way to change that? Thanks
- tRANIS, on 10/03/2008, -0/+3hell I'm on 6.05
- TVarmy, on 10/03/2008, -0/+3Apple did say they are planning on slimming down their applications for Snow Leopard, and it does seem to be the case in the current betas. Granted, I'm not sure if this will do as much for the feature bloat in iTunes, since this also uses a lot of memory and CPU cycles for all those processes.
- zwaldowski, on 10/03/2008, -0/+3It's ***** nuts, but Apple doesn't do patches because their update installers are simply the same package you download (which is an EXE full of MSI's) with a silent switch activated.
- uskomaton, on 10/03/2008, -1/+4Stop claiming a minor update is news, it's not.
Buried. - newsheatdotcom, on 10/03/2008, -0/+3Tack on "change", "mainstreet", and "up in Alaska" and you've got a heavy night of drinking.
- Balanced, on 10/03/2008, -1/+3Quicktime is the media architecture iTunes uses.
- Radan, on 10/03/2008, -4/+6To be fair, Apple does this with all their software updates; releasing a much larger patch than actually needed. The idea is that it's supposed to limit the amount of glitches that might occur if you have installed some 3rd party software that could interfere with the update. Also, as far as I know, most likely this isn't just an iTunes 8.0 -> 8.0.1 patch but also an iTunes 7 -> 8.01 patch (they usually do this, though I haven't checked if it's the case for this particular update).
Also since not many knows this, I'd like to point out that just because the patch is 58 MB big, doesn't it mean that the application will get 58 MB larger. Theoretically, it could actually get smaller because of code optimisation and so on. - OJXs, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2Does anyone know why I cant use an iTunes gift card to buy apps/games for an iPod touch?
I live in Canada btw - vannoy, on 10/03/2008, -2/+4I think I hear your tiny violins playing..
- TVarmy, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2Is the gift card American? Does it work for songs?
- paloooz, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2Just tested, still works.
- username7410, on 10/03/2008, -1/+3Can it start including The Beatles and other non-iTMS artists in my Genius results? I see Apple collecting/sending data from iTunes of my listening habits, they have the listening habits of MILLIONS of other people... can they not use that to figure out a Genius playlist based on "A Day In The Life"?
- Galaxylander, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2Apple doesn't make that much off the iTunes store, the RECORD LABELS would have an orgasmic ***** on Apple if they did it.
- paloooz, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2Any word on whether or not this breaks the Requiem workaround?
- rockrapdude, on 10/03/2008, -1/+3Something to go with the latest release: http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=554&page=1
