- wontstoptalking, on 09/10/2008, -1/+55iTunes 8 is using 155,801 K of memory right now. That's twice as much as iTunes 7. For me.
And I'm only playing a song. - sockpuppets, on 09/10/2008, -2/+32Press the "fold time and space" button, I'm typing this from 2048. Totally worth the extra memory.
- Zervaman, on 09/10/2008, -5/+33Just gotta say that I'm loving Genius in iTunes 8.
- Quicksilver4648, on 09/10/2008, -2/+28Are you insane? You do know your GPS in your car works wonders without a cellular data. It is quite simple, you download the maps to your iPod Touch and the GPS gives the position.
- inactive, on 09/09/2008, -11/+31Recessed headphone jack? Say it ain't so!
- inactive, on 09/10/2008, -3/+23Surprise, it's the same as the first.
- BrendanSheehan, on 09/10/2008, -1/+19Holy ***** you may be right. If that's true it sucks balls.
- sockpuppets, on 09/10/2008, -2/+20Wow the stupids in this one.
Commodus and Brendan need to visit Wikipedia or something, GPS is broadcast from military satellites and isn't dependent on anything else. Quicksilver is correct. Wontstop, maps don't take up that much space, I've got the entire western US on my treo on a 2gb flash card. And your attitude is smug, you probably sit around smelling your own farts all day. - skunkman62, on 09/09/2008, -4/+20GPS!?! how about an FM radio already. my ipod radio add-on is junk.
- meamog, on 09/10/2008, -0/+16It ain't so. Check the gallery on apple.com - it's rounded, but not recessed. Should work fine with most any headphones.
- HappyScrappy, on 09/10/2008, -1/+17Don't forget the price cut. And hell, they could have made it a phone too! I have no idea why you bought one, I don't buy consumer products until they've run their full course and been cancelled.
I just got a me a Sony Discman. Pretty spiffy. - roebeet, on 09/10/2008, -2/+17What about the audio quality for this new iPod? Or does that not matter anymore?
- djsim, on 09/10/2008, -0/+13It also has a volume rocker and better battery life.

The pics are better there. - bwdd, on 09/10/2008, -0/+9No, it's not, the port just cuts off because the thing is so damn thin.
- rheaume, on 09/10/2008, -1/+9I love the motto "Millions of songs. Thousands of movies. Hundreds of games."
Yeah, and every goddamn dollar you ever earn - mrsteveman1, on 09/10/2008, -0/+8Probably the same as the last one
- elmetald00d, on 09/10/2008, -0/+8the cheaper is the biggest announcement.
- briangig, on 09/10/2008, -0/+8im getting so sick of talking myself out of getting one of these...
- ligyron, on 09/10/2008, -1/+9Minus the phone part
- afruff23, on 09/10/2008, -1/+8Have they finally added XP 64-bit support for iTunes or are they still shafting us?
- spacerobot, on 09/10/2008, -0/+7The fact that 32gb version is 20% cheaper is enough for me. I've never bought an apple product before, and I've been wanting to get an ipod touch for a while, but the price drop sold the deal for me and I just ordered one today.
- inactive, on 09/10/2008, -1/+7You're an idiot.
- 3amboo, on 09/10/2008, -0/+6good thing there are still Windows iPod users out there for you.
- digjam, on 09/10/2008, -4/+10Apple's way of doing business is turning out to be shady in my opinion.
First they release a lack luster basic featured product with immense hype (read 3G, GPS on iPhone) people go insane and buy every damn piece in the market, then they release the next version with added features, drop in price...which should have been included in the first gen itself and people are forced to buy it again or accept that they are losers for buying a 1st gen product.
I mean comon, how come non recessed headphone jack is a "exciting feature" to be mentioned in a hyped up event?? I am sure they will do the same whenever if at all they release copy paste for iphone...which is stupid enough to be missing.
I am sure the apple fanboys will not concur..but thats the sad truth. - Lynx34, on 09/10/2008, -0/+6It also is slightly thinner and has a volume rocker on the side, but even the lower price makes this a pretty solid deal.
- DaFunk, on 09/10/2008, -1/+7I'm still not seeing how this is much different from the original iPod Touch. It's a little cheaper, has a shiny back and speaker and you can link it to your Nike's. Am I missing anything?
- mrsteveman1, on 09/10/2008, -1/+6People who don't need to carry around 32/64/128gb of music all at once?
Clearly the thing is completely worthless if it can't hold an entire music collection, that touch screen thing is just a gimmick, and the app store? pshh no purpose in that thing at all. None. - kashem, on 09/10/2008, -0/+5Above all, it has a speaker... which I believe should have been included on the original since it's closer to iphone than ipod in many aspects.
- Galaxylander, on 09/10/2008, -1/+6That's not Apple's fault, that's the price of flash memory's... fault.
That'd cost ridiculous amounts of money. - mrsteveman1, on 09/10/2008, -1/+6Your mini doesn't have GPS either.....
- inactive, on 09/10/2008, -0/+4 Thanks for easing my pain.
- absolutzombie, on 09/10/2008, -0/+4155? Mine's at 508mb loading up the genius.
Apparently the genius is pretty smart. - antdude, on 09/10/2008, -0/+4You will say the same for the future models.
- sdschramm, on 09/10/2008, -1/+5Last night I fired up my iBook G3 and ran software updater. I wasn't expecting iTunes 8 to come up as it now requires more ram and processor speed. I only have a 500Mhz and 384 of Ram, so I wasn't expecting it to allow me to do the update. After a few mins the thing came up and started downloading. When it was finished, it even let me run the installer to do the update. It successfully installed and I am now running iTunes 8 on a 7 year old computer. Take that, get a mac!
- TheWorm, on 09/10/2008, -0/+4Those aren't real pictures.
- HappyScrappy, on 09/10/2008, -1/+5No, it's not recessed.
- tdkme, on 09/10/2008, -0/+4you cant get the new ipod touch with the school deal. and it ends sept 15
- solidus636, on 09/10/2008, -0/+4Return it! Return it quick! It's been less than a month, I'm pretty sure the policy is 30 days.
- TheFinaleofSeem, on 09/10/2008, -2/+5Call the wahmbulance. Call me crazy, but I think the lack of Xvid support hasn't really hurt sales much at this point, now has it?
- bluezombie, on 09/10/2008, -2/+5But I like recess. I want to play dodge ball!
- MacBandit, on 09/10/2008, -0/+3@wontstoptalking
Your full of crap. The entire Garth North American city street maps fits on one DVD.
http://www8.garmin.com/cartography/mapSource/cityn ... - joshdare, on 09/10/2008, -1/+4That's barely a paragraph's content there... and even then nothing really interesting. 'Spose that's what happens when these blogs race to be the 'first'.
Here's *everything*:
"We just got some hands-on time with the new iPod touch, and we're really feeling this one. Jury's still out on the new nano, but the second-gen touch is a marked improvement over the first gen model. The WiFi antenna looks much better integrated, the speaker doesn't sound like complete trash despite not even having any speaker holes, and the thing is crazy thin. Like, really, really thin."
I could've told you most of that, and I've never held one. - PartlySean, on 09/10/2008, -0/+3After I downloaded the 2.1 update for the iPod Touch, my downloads have been super fast. Comparable to the speed in the commercials fast.
- n4tune8, on 09/10/2008, -2/+5No camera? No GPS? why bother?
- wukillabee, on 09/10/2008, -8/+11hold on, this thing still doesnt read xvid? lmfao
- NOFXY, on 09/10/2008, -1/+4i lol'd
- inactive, on 09/10/2008, -0/+3idiot
- inactive, on 09/10/2008, -4/+7I'm a Touch owner right now and I feel stupid. These features are ones that Apple couldve easily added on with the first generation, especially the Nike+ and the volume buttons.
