- handheldchimp, on 08/15/2009, -4/+105Guys, it's not a scam. I just got 3 of them, and I got an email saying it was confirmed. They even sent me a tracking number, would a fake website go that far...I think not...
- t0x2c, on 08/15/2009, -1/+67Oh they'll send you an iPod; but only after they get the loan in your name for $42,000.
- BorsKaegel, on 08/14/2009, -2/+64Identify Your Identity? Stupid statements like this are usually obvious signs it is a scam.

- b4db0y, on 08/15/2009, -2/+25Just you wait until my Nano comes in the mail... see who's laughing then.
- dmcaudio, on 08/15/2009, -1/+20people who are stupid enough to fall for this deserve what they get.
- tnoy, on 08/15/2009, -0/+17Take the computer out of the kitchen, and you wont have this problem.
- Soulkiller117, on 08/15/2009, -1/+16I'm curious as to if they will also charge the credit cards the fee of the ipod so it goes unnoticed for quite a while.
Btw, somewhat on topic if any one ever needs to fill out some kind of online form but doesn't want to give their actual identity
http://www.fakenamegenerator.com/
is a great way to create a fake identity. And all the information will usually verify such as the credit card number.
NOTE: This is NOT identity theft so chill out. It's a randomly created identity so it's completely legal. - aforsberg, on 08/15/2009, -0/+14My grandfather (RIP) had a bike. On this bike, he carved his SSN so that in the event of theft, he could prove ownership.
Back in his day, a bike was worth more than that number. - R0ko, on 08/15/2009, -2/+16looks legit enough
i already ordered mine/s - jh32488, on 08/15/2009, -0/+14so when can i expect my refund?
do you want my checking account info so you can send it to me? - kefkaantakrist, on 08/15/2009, -0/+14Yeah! It showed up as just a bunch of x's!
When you typed 478-97-8715, all I saw was xxx-xx-xxxx - matthewstinar, on 08/15/2009, -1/+14There is more than gullibility at work here. Our Social Security numbers have been misappropriated for so many things that aren't Social Security that nobody is surprised to be asked for one. Organizations misguidedly use Social Security numbers as driver's license numbers, student ID numbers, credit ID numbers (for customers of all kinds of banking and credit reporting services), and even taxpayer ID numbers. People on both ends of these transactions have forgotten what a Social Security number is supposed to be so that those who should be ashamed for asking for one are not and those who should question being asked to provide one do not.
- nextekcarl, on 08/15/2009, -0/+13I did a google search on just the number and this was the first one listed:

It seems his trust was misplaced. LOL - Chrysalii, on 08/15/2009, -2/+15Would have been more successful if they advertised on Myspace.
- mareksoon, on 08/15/2009, -1/+13Oh, yeah. The article. Forgot to go back and read the article.
- tnoy, on 08/15/2009, -0/+11The Zune doesn't come with white headphones that lets everyone know you have an iPod.
Duh. - bkmbr, on 08/15/2009, -1/+12Oh sure, here you have my SSN. 078-05-1120

- stevene, on 08/15/2009, -1/+11Apple "loyalists" would probably get their iPod from Apple.
- t0x2c, on 08/15/2009, -1/+11Yea but 'the stupid' includes my wife and I would prefer not to be taxed.
- huff51, on 08/15/2009, -1/+10god damn, wax poetic is one of my favorite phrases
- Subriot, on 08/15/2009, -0/+9Just signed up, my dealer (Dr. Clement Okon) told me it's shipping from Nigeria. He seems like a pretty generous guy!
- crackerjack20, on 08/15/2009, -1/+9Really, let me try:
478-97-8715
can you see it? - JoeHague, on 08/15/2009, -0/+7Want to set up an Apple clone web site to channel stupid people's funds to Nigeria- There's an App for that/
- inactive, on 08/15/2009, -4/+11This shouldn't even be illegal as far as I'm concerned. It's just a tax on the stupid.
- VikingBeatbox, on 08/14/2009, -5/+12I've know people who have tried to visit yahoo.com via yah00.com. I'm not surprised people are dumb enough to do this as well.
- miquonranger031, on 08/15/2009, -0/+6Hello and how are you today good Sir
I am NWOMO MAKEMBE son of the prince of OWO province in KENYA
My father has recently left us, but in his passing he has left in the quantity of ONE MILLION ipod nanos
If you will transfer me a small processing fee of 50 dollars I will give you a share of this wealth
Please to have made your acquaintance and I will wait breathlessly for your reply.
I wish you the best of health - spriggig, on 08/15/2009, -1/+7I have several relatives and co-workers who would fall for this.
- AaronGeister, on 08/15/2009, -0/+6Soon as I read this, I called Apple to ask for a refund.
- JoeHague, on 08/15/2009, -1/+7Meh, my lawyer says my credit can only go up from here/
- mooseofshadows, on 08/15/2009, -1/+7That's like saying it should be legal to steal from people who don't lock their doors at night; sure, you shouldn't do it, but that's no reason to let the thief get away with it.
- MtheoryX, on 08/15/2009, -0/+5* slow clap *
- Philbert, on 08/15/2009, -0/+5insurance?
- BrownieMix, on 08/15/2009, -1/+6I don't even know my social security number
- inactive, on 08/15/2009, -0/+5Lifelock DOES work, but it's nothing you can not do yourself. You can call up your credit card agencies and ask to put your account on lockdown. You might have to do it every 90 days. But it's better than paying 10 bucks a month when you only have to call 4 times a year
- Khast, on 08/15/2009, -2/+6Well, as they say...stupid people will fall for stupid scams.
I wonder how many people fell for the "Your account has been overdrawn"....and you don't even have an account with the bank in question... - Praystation, on 08/15/2009, -0/+4Identify Your Identity?
Obvious scam is obvious. - shillabus, on 08/15/2009, -0/+4Cool story bro.
- firesights, on 08/15/2009, -1/+5Wow, I did a google search for "lifelock review" and it came up with so many phony advertising "review" sites do nothing but wax poetic about how perfect Lifelock is that it actually saddened me.
- ramseyg, on 08/15/2009, -1/+5I'm going to dig you up because you said "MP3 player." Nothing wrong with iPods. I just don't use my mp3 player for anything but *gasp* listening to music. Shocker, huh?
Also, iPods are overpriced if all you do is listen to music. - FortyCaliber, on 08/15/2009, -0/+4nope, just xxx-xx-xxxx
- MacParrot, on 08/15/2009, -0/+3Yet another child left behind. You hate iPods so much you actually missed the point of the story. It could have been ANYTHING. It didn't have to be an iPod.
- inactive, on 08/15/2009, -0/+3...unless that person took your comment, in which case... sorry.
- xarious86, on 08/15/2009, -2/+5wow....so expensive!
