- minime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Man, this is exactly what I was looking for! Now I can read my ebooks at bed before sleeping! ^^
- phord, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4There's also this one: http://www.ipod-notes.com/
- themarq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That's great. Now can you make it automatically sync with a news site and convert the new stories of the day so I can read them while waiting for the bus? That would be great.
- nogoodreason, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Fantastic - thanks for the link!
Unfortunately it wouldn't let me convert The Bible. Apparently it's "too big" :( - AlanKc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Put it on your blog if its really worth it...
But if it only got 5 diggs last time, whats the point? - neponel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I bet a dollar that they keep a copy of your file.
- drapelyk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://sturm.net.nz/website.php?Section=iPod+Programs&Page=iPodLibrary
Use this one. You can use this offline, and it keeps track of your books as well. I don't use it anymore, but it was really handy when I did. - tryferos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Question...videos are cool on the video IPod but isnt the text going to be too smal to read a whole book?
- daddyfizz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2no, i've read 3 or 4 books on my ipod video, and also read the entire Dark Tower series on a 4th gen iPod. Just make sure you use the light and hold it close enough so that you don't strain your eyes. Although after about 4 hours of straight reading my eyes got a little sore....
I use iPod library, great program and free! everone should try it out - flag564, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why would you want to read any long text on 2in screen?
- Ciebergasm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's really cool as it skips converting from PDF to text. Thanks to you as well!
- sammykrupa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A program I wrote also converts things for reading on iPods:
http://www.ipodulatorpro.theplaceforitall.com/
New versions coming (like support for local text documents)! Bookmark that page (-: - Ciebergasm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You are awesome! I've been doing this manually for so long. I have 100's of ebooks that have gone unread because I didn't have time to do it/didn't want to read in front of my CPU. Thanks you very much!
- spingk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Now I can OCR my textbook pages and put them through this so I don't have to bring my textbooks to sutdy halls and can take notes from my ipod instead.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1dude thats an idea so many people could use.
e.g. CNN or FOX could just make a text/audio/video feed of most current news available to be synched up every 30 mins.
Imagine how many people would love to watch the news on the way to work or on the subway.
And to satisfy their greed they can put commercials in there too. win win for both. - AmelieGrey, on 02/19/2008, -0/+1what the hell are you talking about?
- Phantom784, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You could always load each book seperately.
- Teridon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wrote a similar script in perl, and I only used it once! Why? Because on my 3G iPod (not sure about other models), when you scroll the text, it spins up the hard drive. Constant scrolling equals dead battery in about 2 hours. :(
- patientx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just use a gbasp with gba media player ; listen to music and read books bigger screen better to hold and look at.I finished nearly 40 books with this setup.
- cyfer2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wrote a windows script host file for the similar job.
http://xyfer.blogspot.com/2006/08/jscript-that-cut-txt-files-for-ipod.html
It cut files at 2k characters because most of characters I care have two byte in each of them. - Kitsune818, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just truncate that pesky new testament and you should be all set.
Just a joke, naturally, but seriously.. Under what circumstances do you have to have immediate portable access to "Paul's letters to the Thesomeliomas" where a small printed copy wouldn't be both more expedient and convenient? - VTStevenVT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks kewl, but it would be tought to read an entire book on a nano screen. Would be useful on the Ipod Video though. and I definately agree with themarq...an automatic sync with news would be awsome. I bet it would be to hard to write an rss feed reader into it. Dugg
- Gosroth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I use this one too! I just dislike the 1,000 notes limit and the time it takes to load notes on the ipod itself. transfer is quick but you have to wait for the ipod to load them
- Warpling, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Did this in 9th grade for "Great Expectations"
- renesimone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wouldn't try anything confidential but cool idea....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1it is worth it, guess it's not the first good story that for some reason - wrong title, wrong posting time etc. got ignored. Thanks for the hint I'll try this.
- guimonkey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2totally, cause podcasts and vidcasts have been lacking in this area!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great tools from moveing people

- aquariusm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hi, I have iPod nano and i want to put "Lord of the rings" from Tolkin, could you give me a link to a good version of the book so i can convert it. PLESE HELP
- pjsmillie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0is this what i signed up for? geeks talking aboot comptures in a language that sends me to sleep?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Need your help. I've just found a good link (it's in the reddit top10 and del.icio.us "popular today top 5") but I can't post the link because it had been posted before - got ignored: 5 diggs - and now digg doesn't accept the link anymore.
So what can I do? (The link is really worth it.) - CeeDeeEee, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Good but not great. I used to love my iPod and it's flexibilty, that it could be used to read ebooks as well as play music.
But for what it's worth if anyone's interested, when my iPod Mini finally died on me I decided to shop around for a something else. Something which would still play music and audiobooks but maybe with a colour screen, a keyboard and support for applications like ToDo lists etc.
I checked out the PSP, the GP2X, various mp3 players but I finally settled on a very special little smartphone instead. The HTC Wizard aka Qtek 9100, MDA Vario, i-Mate K-JAM and it's superb! QWERTY keyboard, colour touch-screen, plays videos and games, runs windows mobile 5, plus it's a phone!
I would seriously suggest you check it out if you're into getting a little more out of your handheld device. Also the Vario II has just been made available.
