- jklyon, on 10/10/2007, -7/+68"Holy crap, how many Apple stories can Digg handle in one day?"
Is that a challenge? Digg can be a dangerous place... - InfinitySnatch, on 10/10/2007, -3/+56I'm glad they switched back to Classic. New iPod just didn't have the flavor of the original.
- brendanryder, on 10/10/2007, -7/+58apple stories have been dugg over 22,000 times today :D
- kingkilr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+32How many engadget stories can we handle :O
- DPimp1262, on 10/10/2007, -2/+33That's a hands on? Well we held the new ipod nano and it's tiny........thank you captain obvious. Instead of hearing the stuff I actually want to know like news on the radically new interface or maybe the quality of the display while playing video they write that it's tiny.
- stillasleep00, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20I miss my white gloss...
- mserna23, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15You guys are spoiled wanting flash based iPods. 160 GB? I'm straight with that. Why complain?
- Puppetfunk, on 10/10/2007, -6/+20Sorry It's opposite day.
- mastercheif, on 11/01/2007, -0/+12I like having my entire library with me. If I am ever in the mood for a song, I can just go to the song instead of saying "dang, I don't have it on my iPod".
- Gohan5052, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12I wanted to get a touch so bad but 16 gigs is nowhere near enough and not for 400. my 20 gig 4g died like 6 months ago and i was waiting for this. i guess il just suck it up and get the classic.
- Caboose101, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13I totally did not notice the 'metallic' sparkly design in the keynote images. I actually think that the old less rounded style was much better, too bad it didnt come in an 160 ***** GB option.
- JeffS, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12"It's thin, it's solid, but it's still hard drive based, which for our flash-loving selves will always be kind of a bummer." It is also 160GB. Show me a flash device with that capacity you fools. Wait 10 years for it or keep your flash loving to the flash ram iPods.
- quamb, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12Is it just me or are they kinda ugly??
White/black gloss versions were tre sexy. - jeffmon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9HAHA
- basye, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10WTF? No more shiny iPods!
- johnkyoungoh, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12160 gigs of low-res iPod porn.
drooool... - slipkn0tz23, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Digg is very dangerous when people challenge it.
"You're going to get banned if your HD-DVD stories get front paged" - Kevin Rose
You all know what happened next. - HerrEisenheim, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8I'm actually surprised that there are any non-Apple stories on the top list at all.
- JustinHorne, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9Well, I've already ordered my 160 Black Classic... Come on Apple, don't let me down!
Whether or not you are a fan of Apple/portable players or not, I think we can all agree, 40 hours of audio playback is freaking awesome. - Niz1, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Its cool they took the best bit of the mini or nano and put it on the big one, so you get a reasonably scratch proof iPod (well the front anyway). I'd say getting the back scratched is vintage. My iPod 5g came scratched out the box!
- Breepee, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7How is this a hands on? There's one pic and about .5 lines of comment...
- feckineejit, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Just bought a 5.5 30g and I'm ***** kicking myself!
- goodoldharris, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I don't really get why people want to carry their entire library with them at all times. Isn't 16GB more than enough for a day or two until the next time you recharge? While recharging, it only takes a few minutes to replace the entire contents of a 16GB iPod. Or is there a reason you want your whole library with you? This is a serious question. I'm just curious because I read the lack of storage complaint a lot.
- ClOlD, on 10/10/2007, -5/+10What is it with all these iPod non-stories today?
Some of the COMMENTS on the article's page are longer than the "article" itself.
"So, there are iPods, and this is an iPod, and first hands-on, and more storage, and form factor, and, ZOMG pics:" - LxRogue, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4"but it's still hard drive based"
SO? Did they seriously expect 160GB of flash crammed into that? Is there even an advantage to having it entirely flash based? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4insanely better storage, no scratch front (except for screen), new and better UI, thinner
troll somewhere else - Speed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4"It's thin, it's solid, but it's still hard drive based, which for our flash-loving selves is kind of a bummer.", then buy the iPod touch or the fat Nano. The iPod classic is meant for the people who want the storage of HDD based players.
- Bob042, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Personally, I've never liked the super shiny metal backs. It would drive me insane with all the fingerprints, I really liked the 2G nano's full anodized aluminum enclosure.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6What kinda of lame, moronic half-insult is that?
- zeejay, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Whether you hate or love Apple, you have to admit that they do a pretty decent job of *consistently* producing stuff that people get excited about. The value of all the (free) PR Apple gets is off the charts.
My question is why can't HP do this? Or Sony? Or Microsoft? It's a legitimate question... I mean, they all have the resources, even larger revenue streams, and bigger R&D operations. Are these other heavyweights all too risk-averse? Or too image-conscious? Or unimaginative? You'd think after the last five years of watching Apple outpace the market by a long shot, that their approach would "catch on" elsewhere. - kpxxbladexx415, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4The iPods Evolve, the Headphones stay *****.
- jeffmon, on 11/01/2007, -0/+2Exactly.
- epyon180, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Yes there is, block the apple section.
- nobody98, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3well most people buy ipods for their looks so i guess it makes sense :/
- counterpart9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2so do you think there is any hardware limitations preventing this really nice looking user interface on the new iPod Classic to be put on an 5G iPod Video?
i know apple won't do it, they want people to by new iPods, but it'd be very cool to just put the new UI on my iPod video. - Jones82, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2If only the digg community could conduct some kind of 24-hour endurance test where we all collectively digg stories about a single topic, thereby flooding the font page
- Sairynn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Actually, with the 5.5G iPods, there is a pretty significant difference between the 30GB and the 80GB models. It's not really a "brick" by any stretch of the imagination, but I do wish my 80 was as thin as the 30 ... the thinner form really does look and feel a lot better, plus it takes up less space in your pocket.
- aliguana, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4small screen for a small dick
- Bricks, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7Dugg up in the name of frontpage orchard. mmm nutrishus
- yaknowit, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3the secret lie in your mouse...ie, don't click on the ***** story
- fascfoo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Everything you do and say is a waste of your life.
- theprez, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2What I would like to know is if the new iPod Classic and iPhone Touch have video output capabilities. Outputting videos to a TV is a feature hardly anyone ever talks about, but it's one of the main things I use my iPod for. Anybody know? How about the iPhone for that matter...?
- goodoldharris, on 11/01/2007, -0/+2 Fair enough. I have an 8GB nano, and I suppose that does happen sometimes.
- wageslaven, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3You are both joking right? 22,000 hits is evidence that digg is home to a brigade of Apple Cultists who automatically digg anything apple related. Duplicates. ***** stories. Inaccurate. Untrue. Boring. Worthless.
The only thing unreasonable about digg is its raft of apple fanatics. - sockdemon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Flash has faster access times and lower power consumption, the only disadvantage is price. Eventually, when the cost falls, almost everything will be flash based; unless, of course, some other solid state technology becomes prevalent, in which the whole cycle will start over again: more storage vs greater cost.
- naonao, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'm more excited about this than the touch, replacing my 80GB with a 160.
- nobody98, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1return it... where did i read about apple having a 3 week return policy or something :S
- nobody98, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1same here. finger prints drive me mad which is why id never buy a device that involves touching a screen to input.
- cowkicker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1i Concur.
'cept I had to remove all the cover art to squeeze more tracks on. - Speed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1"the only disadvantage is price"
And capacity. -
