- pipdip, on 11/11/2007, -1/+32You can already add calendar events if you're iPod is jailbroken. I see no reason to upgrade.
- Haecceity, on 11/11/2007, -0/+28The iPod Touch is potentially a killer PDA, and if it's jailbroken it is. I'm not going to go to 1.1.2 unless I know it's not going to knock out Mail, Weather, Notes, etc.
- kinseyincanada, on 11/11/2007, -1/+22anyone know what this will do to my jailbroken touch?
- nipterink, on 11/11/2007, -1/+20was the inability to add calendar events from the touch really a deal breaker for anyone?
- mikev, on 11/11/2007, -0/+14It wont brick it, but you'll most likely have to restore. This update isn't really crucial since there's an iPod Touch Calendar fix in Installer.app
- stepnet, on 11/11/2007, -2/+14It nearly was for me, it makes the difference between effectively a PDA, and an mp3 player.
- drewpost, on 11/12/2007, -1/+12it un jail broke it. No bricking or anything.
- 80hd, on 11/12/2007, -2/+12Who cares 1.1.2 was broken within hours of release....
- ErifNeerg, on 11/11/2007, -1/+11how about that to-do/tasks list?
- ncaauwe, on 11/11/2007, -0/+10Neat! Although I'm still going to leave mine jailbroken for now since I really like having Notes and Email as well as adding calendar events. But good to see they brought that back after omitting it from the features page =)
- c5kirk, on 11/11/2007, -1/+10Uhm... the iPod Touch isn't a phone.
- OUChevelleSS, on 11/11/2007, -0/+7Uh, what was broken with contacts?
- thatsmyaibo, on 11/11/2007, -1/+6Yes. Updated on my own unit and confirmed. You can edit and add events that will sync to your computer.
For anyone with Leopard, it works like the new iCal. - palmerized, on 11/13/2007, -0/+5um, maybe i'm missing something, but this *is* a pretty big update. this gives the touch some real pda features. imo this is pretty worthy news.
and, i think you forget what digg is all about. obviously there are enough people here that think this is worthy news. - 80hd, on 11/11/2007, -1/+5Apple added features to the new firmware to pull people away from broken ass 1.1.1 but it seems there was no point to that.
Good thing 1.1.2 has already been cracked too.. - newaffect, on 11/12/2007, -1/+5It's not showing up on iTunes. What's happening?
- eihwaz, on 11/13/2007, -0/+4That's a hardware thing, and only the first wave of Touch had it. They've already fixed it, actual Touches are fine.
- mrsteveman1, on 11/11/2007, -0/+3Touch updates shouldn't brick anything, the iPhone was another issue because of specific chips in the device involved with activation (which Apple cares about more than jailbreaks alone).
Theres no reason iTunes couldn't restore a Touch with the latest firmware regardless of jailbreaks. - Sibre, on 11/11/2007, -1/+4They're talking about the iPod Touch, not the iPhone. Pay attention.
- mrsteveman1, on 11/11/2007, -0/+3At least it's easy to restore if something like that happens.
- mentor972, on 11/11/2007, -0/+3Wasn't this just on the front page yesterday?
- REBELinBLUE, on 11/11/2007, -1/+4I would be nice if they fixed some of the actual bugs in the iPod touch/iPhone also
- jakebechtold, on 11/11/2007, -0/+3Yea, I can't get it either
- mercurysquad, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2You seem to forget that it's supposed to be a music player.
- theojanke, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2It's the same story. For some reason there's a bunch of stories that were on the frontpage yesterday coming up again today.
From duggtrends: "reached frontpage with 35 votes @ 11/9/2007 11:54:13 PM" - REBELinBLUE, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2No, that jailbreaks it so you can run custom apps on it, that doesn't unlock the phone so it can be used on any network.
- hakz, on 11/10/2007, -1/+3since you guys are all iphone experts and I'm here already. As a UK user, if I want an iphone without the o2 contract (unlocked), do I just buy it from an online store like amazon.co.uk and then hack it ? Or do I need to activate the 18 month contract (how)?
- Kerrigore, on 11/10/2007, -0/+2I'm hoping for this too, but it's not useless for me without it. My University has a non-802.1X network (albeit insecure) that I can sign on to with it, but I usually just use my MacBook unless I'm waiting in a line or somewhere where hauling out a laptop isn't convenient.
- Socram, on 11/11/2007, -1/+3Here in the US, you buy the iPhone from AT&T or from Apple (web or store) and activate it at home using iTunes. It's during activation that the signing up for a plan is required.
- Dugly, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2How about syncing to something other than outlook? Like for instance GCal.
(On windows)
There's lots I'd like to see (including mail, notes + pdf and a few games) but that's one thing that really cheezes me off. - turpenine, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2I would assume it works with anything the iphone does, so outlook should be fine. Gcal i dunno
- turpenine, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2I guess it wasn't in originally cause it gave away leopard specific ical features?
- autoy, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2It is said to have some speed optimizations, that would be a reason for me. I don't find 1.1.1 that fast at all.
- REBELinBLUE, on 11/10/2007, -0/+2OK then I guess it wouldn't be nice if they fixed the actual bugs
- dimitrisokolov, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2So where the ***** is it? Doesn't work from update software in iTunes.
- greatclare, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2Does anybody know where this is listed on Apple's site?
- mrsteveman1, on 11/11/2007, -3/+4You must be kidding or ridiculously stupid.
- SharkyTech, on 11/11/2007, -0/+1Its not going to know out Mail etc. : http://www.tuaw.com/2007/11/09/1-1-2-ipod-touch-ja ...
- MioTheGreat, on 11/10/2007, -0/+1Mine has a WEP network, but connections to it are usually spotty, so I can't justify getting the iPod Touch unless it supports 802.1X Authentication for the good network.
- cyssero, on 04/18/2009, -0/+1Try telling the 3 customers I sold iPod touch's to at work today they do not exist here in Australia. I guess you mean the iPhone, then.
- DaviDaviDaviD, on 11/10/2007, -0/+1Good news, although notes still isn't there....
- beerbarron, on 11/10/2007, -0/+1All the iPod needs now, is some basic office like apps, I think we will see this come in January or February whenever they release the SDK. But thats awesome new for touch owners
- hakz, on 11/10/2007, -0/+1so i'm guessing you are supposed to hack it before activation?
- rajt, on 11/11/2007, -0/+1I wonder where this alleged firmware is - hasn't shown up on Aus ITunes since its announcement.
- turpenine, on 11/11/2007, -0/+1you guys are still seeing seinfeld for the first time, check back in eight years.
- thebluesman, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1learn how to spell mofo
- ddfall, on 11/11/2007, -0/+1I have the exact same problem. iTunes says that the ipod is up to date with 1.1.1 and won't work. sucks.
- PathDaemon, on 11/10/2007, -1/+2CommentFailureBot Sez: http://www.createthefuturecontest.com/pages/view/e ...
- mrsteveman1, on 11/11/2007, -0/+11 3 and 5 are probably not worth the trouble they would cause, the rest should be in the device no question. It's either just an iPod, or its a PDA. This half ass in the middle stuff is ridiculous, and it's purely because Apple wants to sell more iPhones.
- mrsteveman1, on 11/11/2007, -0/+1You guys will have to wait for the next round of ADD fueled hyper focusing on the things that don't currently work well, cause thats how Apple works.
