http://content.info.apple.com/ProtectedAsset/iPod/ ... - ChrisLowder, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2Just installed it on my iPod touch, it works perfectly...
Cheers - neasteflorin, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2Download the file, connect your ipod, hold the shift key and click restore. Your iPod will now have 2.0 and the App Store, without paying 10$ to Apple.
- metalrock76, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2When you hold shift and click restore it will ask you to locate the file on your computer.
- anthonywr, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1Holding down the shift key when I click restore does not prompt me for the file location. Anyone else have the problem?
- neasteflorin, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1Not really! Plus it's free. otherwise you have to buy it from iTunes.
- neasteflorin, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1They removed the link. Sorry folks!
- mediaphile, on 07/13/2008, -0/+1Actually, no, because the iPod Touch version is only available for pay through iTunes 7.7. If you want to download it directly, you'll have to do it illegally.
- anthonywr, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1Ok, on the Mac you need to hold down the ALT key. It took about 10 minutes to do the restore, but its booted ok and it looking and working good. Thank original poster!!

- macsrock888, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1mine seems to be stuck. is this happening to anyone else?
- mediaphile, on 07/13/2008, -0/+1Yeah, works fine for me. No issues
- neasteflorin, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1It's signed by Apple.
- CannonGod, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1And how much is this likely to be a future 'bricking' of our iTouch's? I'm going to be patient and pay the fee despite being so damn poor. It's not worth risking it when it's so close.
- Jezper, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1Same link. Still dead.
- SheVibe, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1haha right from apple? that's weird. Dont ipod touch users have to 9.99? Way to go Apple!
- neasteflorin, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1OK!
- AppleLove, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1Seems like the one on TPB is a beta firmware?
Thanks though - anthonywr, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1This looks like a newer version than the original posters link
- mediaphile, on 07/13/2008, -0/+1Nah, it works fine. This is the same way one would downgrade from 1.1.4 to 1.1.3, or whatever other firmware you want. Once you have it installed, iTunes thinks you've bought it or had it pre-installed, so there's no authentication issues. If it didn't work, all you'd have to do is download whatever firmware you were using before and use the same process to restore it.
- AppleLove, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1Hey neasteflorin, upload to somewhere else, Please!
Cheers buddy
@Jezper: That's the iPhone one. Doh. - Jezper, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1Ouch sorry. I'm so excited I didn't check the file name properly :)
Found the correct one TPB though.
I will upload and share once it's finished. - AppleLove, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1Seems like german users can find it here -> http://touch.kbot.de/?page_id=42
- redheadguy719, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1can't pay $10

- afgzee, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1***For anyone having problems***
You MUST make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes 7.7 or above (released on July 10th 2008)
Download it Here: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/iTunes_for_Wi ... - tlj101010, on 07/11/2008, -0/+0macsrock - it seemed that way to me, too, but it worked out okay...
anthonywr - same thing for me, too. i just DL'd the file to my desktop instead, then hit shift-restore, and navigated to the desktop and selected the file...
it appears to have worked for me... testing some apps now... - hege27, on 07/11/2008, -0/+0When I click on the link it says the page has been moved or deleted. Could some one help.
- mattvm, on 07/11/2008, -0/+0yes having the same problem
- astroqc, on 07/11/2008, -1/+1Where do you put the file ?
- Diggestor, on 07/11/2008, -0/+0link is dead.
- hege27, on 07/11/2008, -0/+0Thanks

- neasteflorin, on 07/11/2008, -1/+1New link: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/58209/iPod%20Touch%205a ...
- tlj101010, on 07/11/2008, -0/+0so, anyone try this (besides neasteflorin)? Forgive me, but i'm not brave enough to try it. malware and/or bricking concerns, ya know...
- Mak3282, on 07/11/2008, -0/+0Can someone give the DIRECT link to the apple site?
Just like the iPhone one... but for iPod Touch.
Thanks! - tlj101010, on 07/11/2008, -0/+0well, i guess my concerns aren't that great if it only takes one reply for me to jump into trying it out... halfway thru the restore, hope it works...
- mattvm, on 07/11/2008, -1/+0got it to work. it is the alt that needs to be pressed on a mac.
- Jezper, on 07/11/2008, -2/+1officially out now anyways.
- Mak3282, on 07/11/2008, -1/+0All the stuff on TPB could easily be faked and insecure. They could have renamed the iPhone one to iPod Touch just for luls.
Is anyone here capable of getting an actual direct link?
