- kiiwii, on 12/24/2007, -8/+172Maybe it's just me, but I'd try to avoid advertising that kind of stuff in a photo album with lots of pictures of myself.
- inactive, on 12/24/2007, -5/+139How can you measure music in mass?
- whencowsattack, on 12/24/2007, -3/+126Why do iPods scratch so easy anyways?
- RubberBand, on 12/24/2007, -69/+18520gigs isn't 'tons' of music.
- lndmn01, on 12/24/2007, -13/+116Because you touch yourself
- keithburgun, on 12/24/2007, -7/+84why did this stupid comment get dugg so much? "I have MOOORE music, MY penis BIGGER!"
- OpticalLiam, on 12/24/2007, -1/+71It would have been better if the Apple logo was replaced with a solid white Pirate Bay ship.
- inactive, on 12/24/2007, -3/+64It is for most people. I can't even name 20GB worth of songs.
- ECas123, on 12/24/2007, -5/+63Why does Steve Jobs have so many scratches on his iPod?
- fluxrez, on 12/24/2007, -4/+59I estimate 20 gigs to be roughly 333 discs or around 3,330 songs. That sounds like tons to me.
- Roger, on 12/24/2007, -5/+56Music on CDs?
Thats just ridiculous. - voetsjoeba, on 12/24/2007, -2/+53.. at night.
- AlexFinn, on 12/24/2007, -2/+49So you feel ashamed, and go buy a new one
- BoyWithBigHands, on 12/24/2007, -1/+39looks like some of the same tools left comments on here as left them on the flickr page -
"20 gigs? I have the 80!"
"I have the 160!"
"buy a bigger one like mine!"
...
idiots, it's a simple, stupid joke...and an old one at that. if you find the joke funny, digg it. if not, don't.
no one cares how big the iPod your mom just bought you is. - anarchytv, on 12/24/2007, -11/+47For anyone who thinks this iPod has been abused because of the 'scratches', I'm here to tell you otherwise. This is how MOST, dare I say, all iPods look very soon after you get them. I bought one and immediatly put it into a case, and have kept it in a case ever since. It still looks scratched up like this. I polished, which removes a few of the light scratches, and put it back it. It doesn't matter. Eventually you keep it in a nice black leather case to hide it more so than to protect it. The iPod case material choice was the worst choice in the world. On the plus side, its light and will never rust, but on the down side, that mirror beautiful finish will only exist for a few moments off the factory press in a hermetically sealed manufacturing enviornment (long enough for them to take slick marketing photos). Otherwise, you buy an iPod or iPhone with one of these aluminum backs, expect it to look like this with finger prints to boot. I would never buy an iPhone after knowing how incredibly scratchable the same material is. A $1 cheapo plastic toothbrush from Walmart can withstand scratches 50x better.
- Oronar, on 12/24/2007, -1/+35The mass if they were all on CDs?
- inactive, on 12/24/2007, -4/+37He needs the waterproof case.
- punx777, on 12/24/2007, -1/+31You guys are retarded
- inactive, on 12/24/2007, -5/+34Because you haven't gotten a Creative Zen.
- seanc6610, on 12/24/2007, -0/+28but you can't load a $1 cheapo plastic toothbrush from Walmart with tons of music from the pirate bay.
- RpgActioN, on 12/24/2007, -1/+28Because so many of those types of people populate Digg.
- MadEnvoy, on 12/24/2007, -1/+27The RIAA will find a way around that statute.
- wush, on 12/24/2007, -2/+28So when it's free it's more about hoarding data than listening?
- inactive, on 12/24/2007, -0/+26I prefer the unit *****, or in SI, metric *****.
- LilJimmyNordin, on 12/24/2007, -2/+28Dethklok is pretty heavy...
- NoCt1, on 12/24/2007, -3/+28.. alone.
- l0rdn1k0n, on 12/24/2007, -9/+34Would be better on a new 160 GB iPod ;)
- inactive, on 12/24/2007, -0/+23You sure showed him.
- kernokerno, on 12/24/2007, -1/+22you killed the joke.
- mywhitenoise, on 12/24/2007, -4/+25PirateBay sucks for music. They only have mainstream artists, and at low quality, or transcoded.
Would look cooler with an Oink logo (R.I.P.) - inactive, on 12/24/2007, -1/+22A CD weighs 15g.
15 grams x 333 = 4.99500 kilograms - MalDON, on 12/24/2007, -0/+20With a picture of Kevin Rose.
- Vanan, on 12/24/2007, -2/+22ahem,
http://www.hasbro.com/toothtunes/ - inactive, on 12/24/2007, -0/+20Aluminum is a soft metal. The stainless steel rear housings are fairly durable but most metals will scratch like this if polished. Try gold: http://www.computer-choppers.com/pics/new/ipod-cla ... ....this is much easier to scratch.
Very few polished surfaces could hold up to the kind of use most ipods get. You'd be better off with a satin finish like so: http://www.computer-choppers.com/pics/ipod1.jpg - keyme, on 12/24/2007, -2/+21This iPod is so scratched no wonder the guy didn't care putting it into a laser etcher.
- inactive, on 12/24/2007, -3/+21Good luck polishing that stainless steel without ruining what's on it.
- swoopdog, on 12/24/2007, -1/+19mine says
"ipod and stolen music are property of: "
the thing about it is when I got it from apple 3 years ago they applied a sticker to the front of the lcd that said "don't steal music." - scottamlegend, on 12/24/2007, -0/+15Well aren't you special
- shadygrove, on 12/24/2007, -2/+16>filled with tons of music from the Pirate Bay
ain't that the truth!
funny thing is just recently got a 160gb pod and it's actually easier to, say, download the stones discography on pirate bay than it is to rip every stones cd i have. and (at age 38) the stones is a band that i've had on lp, cassette and cd over the years. i've had all but the 8 tracks of that band, many bought new, some bought used, plus merch (t-shirts) and (sadly only once) a $60 or so ticket to see them live. so i feel no remorse that i'm "stealing." i'm sure i can dig up a "license" for every stones cd if given half a day digging in my "hard copy" collection. and while i've been following the curve of technology, it's still fascinating to be in a generational window where i can see how the act of purchasing and accumulating matter (discs and records) to hear music is being supplanted by eagerness to simply hear the data encoded on the matter and forego the clutter of the vast collection of discs, platters, etc... - chedabob, on 12/24/2007, -1/+14Factor in the cases and the booklets and it weighs a lot more than 15g.
- skyshock1, on 12/24/2007, -3/+16I'd guess not, because it didn't say "Limewire/Kazaa Edition". It said "The Pirate Bay Edition".
- jesstech, on 12/24/2007, -5/+18People still use The Pirate Bay?
- banthis, on 12/24/2007, -5/+18Don't have to name them, but you can listen to them. :D
- betterth, on 12/24/2007, -0/+12I wonder what the statute of limitations is on copyright infringement.
Nevermind, apparently it's 3 years. http://law.freeadvice.com/intellectual_property/co ...
I wonder if that includes playing the music, or just the copying. - sarixe, on 12/24/2007, -1/+13Polishing won't get rid of the scratches... If anything, it'll just make the scratches shiny. Looks like they already are.
- jonshipman, on 12/24/2007, -0/+12brasso will work
- troymccluresf, on 12/24/2007, -3/+15Buried as Lame. Oh, you download music! You want a cookie?
- lithera, on 12/24/2007, -2/+14Yeah, but etching the name of your local usenet server into your iPod...... hmmm.... not quite the same effect
- inactive, on 12/24/2007, -0/+11I never understood why Apple chose to use polished aluminium on the rear of the majority of iPod models. Why not Brushed aluminium or something? My old Creative Zen Touch had a nice backing, but my 5G iPod is scratched to *****.
