- macmcraeart, on 11/09/2009, -0/+11rick astley wallpaper is a freakin upgrade to any device.
- mrhahn, on 11/09/2009, -0/+9"Crippling" might be a bit over the top...
- Lavarock, on 11/09/2009, -3/+12I hate it when these articles don't even show an example of what they're talking about:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0 - odiroot, on 11/09/2009, -1/+10It's not a virus, it's a feature.
- synmoo, on 11/09/2009, -1/+8And it still does.
This is in no way Apple's fault. This is jailbroken users not securing their phone after installing SSH on it. This is security 101, don't use a common password. - Pegasus_Strain, on 11/09/2009, -0/+6Yes, if you install ssh - change the freaking password people. Everyone who jailbreaks there phone knows the same GD password.
- bigtime2, on 11/09/2009, -0/+6A free feature too.
- synmoo, on 11/09/2009, -0/+4Who is complaining about this?
See my above comment. This isn't Apple's fault and no one is saying it is. This is Security 101... don't use a common password. - JohnnySoftware, on 11/09/2009, -1/+5Actually, the title is wrong. It exploits a flaw in the jailbreak software and the jailbreak software is looking more and more like a trojan each day. It makes lofty claims about vague benefits but it is dangerous. Apple warned users, disabled the jailbreak software repeatedly, banned people who use their development tools from writing jailbreak software. Short of whacking the iPhones out of the hands of users woh did not listen, they did everything to stop it.
It may be up to the courts, civil damages liability, for these jailbreak hacker programmers to settle things.
I think a jailbreak might violate your iPhone warranty too. We'll have to see if there was adequate disclosure of risks of jailbreak software made by the authors/distributors and promoters. I don't think that it will be Apple that will be dipped in hot oil over this.
Since the title is incorrect, it's not an iPhone worm - it's a worm that attacks the jailbreak itself - I think we can all undigg this article. Someone will post a correct title/abstract eventually, to earn the diggs. - runeasgar, on 11/09/2009, -3/+5The lesson here is: don't jailbreak your phone. Or at least, don't complain about the iPhone when you're responsible for the problems you're having with it.

*shoots self in head - raydeen, on 11/09/2009, -2/+4Any OS is vulnerable. It all comes down to the user. You can have something as impenetrable as Fort Knox but if you leave the door wide open with a note saying you'll be away for two weeks in Tahiti and pencil in the combination to the safe and leave a note on the fridge that says 'Help yourself to the beer', you won't have any beer when you get back and I'll have left a note saying 'Thanks. I was thirsty.'

- Rodik, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1Cripples, no less.
- TheEngineer2008, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1Yeah....how DARE iPhone owners mod their own property!
/s - madwh, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1alpine or dottie
- Ultramagnus0001, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1Wow, would a been funnier if it was the video. Those dance moves are almost as good as Wham!
- noreturn, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1Nobody ever claimed that this was an iPhone exploit, and nobody is implying that iPhones are all vulnerable to this. Don't get so defensive.
P.S. You should probably check the definition of worm. - TheEngineer2008, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1True. Mine was 'alpine' for maybe ten minutes. However, it could be easier to change.
- bettafish, on 11/09/2009, -1/+1Ugh, it's not a virus, or a worm, or anything. It's someone logging into the iPhone and changing it, hardly an actual exploit in the iPhone.
- kreatre2007, on 11/09/2009, -2/+1***** jailbreakers! Thanks for introducing security issues for the iPhone. Thanks for STEALING apps from hardworking developers. You ***** deserve all the trouble you get for jailbreaking your iPhones.
- deanrows, on 11/09/2009, -4/+3WTF? Story dugg up here: http://digg.com/security/World_s_First_iPhone_Worm ...
- VWBug, on 11/09/2009, -14/+3Fake. OSX is immune to viruses. That's what the mac guy says.
/sarcasm - PCMichiana, on 11/09/2009, -14/+3The iPhone sure has a good track record so far though.
