Starting at 31,000 (~ $756 ), it is one of the costliest cell phones in the world's second largest cell phone market. Also keep in mind that India doesn't yet have a 3G network.

    I'm sure that due to the media frenzy and huge promotion. a lot of naive customers will be lured into buying it, only to realize later that it really wasn't worth the investment....not in India at least !

  • nixdoctor, on 08/31/2008, -0/+1I am ashamed to see young educated college students buying iPhones. On one hand, we are talking of global food crisis and economic downslides. On the other hand, we're queing up for iPhones priced $720 a piece + activation charges + 10.25% taxes. What a hypocrisy! Furthermore, I saw Steve Jobs presentation in California where he proudly announced increasing number of "millions" of iphones being sold. But when asked why he priced it so high in India, he now says he did it to prevent "mass buying". What a hypocrisy! Well dudes, I have lost all respect I had for apple as a company, and I'm not going to buy iPhone or any apple product any more. I'd rather buy a cheap phone, and save some money for my future, or donate some of it to an orphanage nearby.

    Shame on iPhone, shame on shameless greed, shame on Steve Jobs.
