- inactive, on 07/02/2008, -3/+21Get a job.
- goldentofu, on 07/01/2008, -2/+13I'd just settle for a simple way to keep track of sets/reps/weight for a lifting routine. The iPhone and Touch are the first practical way to do this without carrying pen and paper around the gym.
- Arasaka, on 07/02/2008, -1/+11I can't wait for sports equipment manufacturers to come up with deals with other competitors.
"*****, all the iPhone threadmills are taken. Guess I'll have to use the Zune rower..." - slapded, on 07/02/2008, -2/+9i work out 5 days a week beotch
- inactive, on 07/02/2008, -0/+5I can.
- inactive, on 07/02/2008, -1/+5Speak for yourself
- jessechan, on 07/01/2008, -2/+5This is a great move. I think as iPods/iPhones become more popular people will be able to track their lifestreams online and working out is one thing that would be nice to track :)
- thetanman, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3I don't want to run with an iPhone, though, they're too big. I still like my skinny aluminum nano, I'll run with that till it breaks. GPS tracking of your run would be awesome, though.
- leerayIG88, on 07/02/2008, -1/+4You could just exercise by jogging outside for free?
- alexbu, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3what's a gym?
- johnpaul191, on 07/02/2008, -3/+5i hope they have something better than the craptasticly inaccurate pedometer of the current nike+. i like the idea, but the 8.5 mile loop i often run will be logged as anything from 7.0 to 8.6 miles.... and i have calibrated it. i assume they could soon sync with the iPhone's GPS, but for people using a Nano? hrmmmm yeah.
- shardmunch, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2Like when you go to the bathroom to pee.. but the opposite
- hilandhall, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2how about headphones under $100 that can be heard over the ***** treadmill noise.
- BOFH2, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2great, you know someone is going to watch a movie someone objects to on that expanded screen then scream that they have a right to.
- Daniel591992, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2Just wondering, does it work well for anyone else?
- bang21, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1I too like my nano because of its size. I run with that and a Garmin Forerunner to get the GPS tracking capabilities.
- pyrates, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Didn't anyone notice how many words were together as one instead of 2? Examples are:
When yousync your iPod
website that letsyou plot
but foundthat all
with various fitness equipmentproducers
Didn't the guy proof read his article before publishing it? - thetanman, on 07/02/2008, -1/+2If the integration was done right, I'd love to be able to plug in my (future) iPhone to cardio equipment and it keep tabs on my workout history, heart rate data, etc. Now I'll just have to see if they can keep the ***** gym machines from breaking so often. I'll also have to make sure Android doesn't rock my socks off for the price...
- inactive, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Works great for me. I calibrated mine and it is quite accurate.
- arizonagroove, on 07/02/2008, -1/+2WTF is a lifestream?
- gettarat, on 11/24/2008, -0/+1Although it's interesting, it's not a new idea. My gym already has machines where you can plug in video (or audio) ipods. It's probably just because it is a new gym (opened this year).
http://nextargps.org/ - Upon66, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Wouldn't it be better to make a generic USB port to download this data rather than a manufacturer specific one port?
- gerbco, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1He's a nice guy up the block from me.. a bit strange tho still lives in his mom's basement.
- Urkel, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Just make sure you wipe the sweat off the scroll elliptical.
- dotorg, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Soon?
All the aerobic machines in my gym have them -- you can watch movies on the iPod or listen to your music while using them, and control it using the machine's touchscreen.
Its pretty freakin' nice. - kaplanfx, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1You could have done this on any PDA (trust me I've tried with varying success). The big deal here is that you used to have to carry a separate device for your tunes as most PDA's seriously sucked at media playback.
- BOFH2, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1i have sony 29.99 in ear headphones that when you turn the headphones upside down(ping the cable towards the top of your head) seal real well and do a great job almost eliminating noise without turning up the sound.
- gerbco, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1I get consistently accurate results on mine my 3 mile jog, logs in at 2.8 to 3.2 but then again my turns are sometimes wide and sometimes tight so that makes sense.
- gerbco, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1then it would just be a spread sheet, i think they want more interactive features that need to work with an OS
- chroko, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1I've had a set of Shure E2g headphones for two years - and they are awesome. Unfortunately they seem to be discontinued, but look for "Shure SE110 sound isolating headphones" on Amazon - they are $99 right now.
If that's still too expensive, there are a few lower-end models on there for around $70. This design is really worth it for listening to music in a noisy environment. - znicket, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Same with me... my park circle is always around 1.2 to 1.3. The Nano has been fairly accurate to me.
- dynamicvn, on 07/09/2008, -0/+0http://myhomfitnessreivew.com
Just wait and see. we can not predict exactly anything before it happens. :)) - Electricpigdigg, on 07/07/2008, -0/+0Great move for Apple, it can only establish their already excellent standing. It just shows how much iPod has become a byword for MP3 player.
- phrenzy, on 07/02/2008, -0/+0Microsoft users will soon know what it felt like for mac users for the past 20 years...
"Sorry, this is only compatible with APPLE products..." - dynamicvn, on 08/06/2008, -0/+0:)) thanks!
- inactive, on 07/02/2008, -3/+3You talk like ***** Microsoft doesn't have a monopoly on every damn thing in the computer industry already? Shut up you n00b. Apple is growing and expanding and there is nothing wrong with that.
Obviously there are enough people out there that think this is a good enough idea to spend time and resources to implement it. You don't like it then don't use it. - dericko, on 07/02/2008, -2/+1I agree with you.. it kind of pisses me off walking into an electronic store and seeing tons of ***** for iPods or iPhones. What about my HTC Touch that I use as both my phone and music player? What about before that when I used my Sansa Sandisk mp3 player?
***** monopoly is pissing me off.. - OneTrueDabe, on 07/03/2008, -1/+0I'm hopeful that integration will expand beyond the gym. Imagine a car radio where, instead of a detachable face plate, you simply dock your iPhone (in landscape mode). Voila! GPS, Music, Handsfree Calling and more! Oh yeah, and built-in phone charger, of course...
Of course, states will pass laws requiring application developers to block Email/SMS/Porn while the car is running, etc. etc. etc., but still, I think it would be a pretty kick-ass user interface. - SwutDigg, on 07/02/2008, -2/+0Although it's interesting, it's not a new idea. My gym already has machines where you can plug in video (or audio) ipods. It's probably just because it is a new gym (opened this year).
- digitaldivinci, on 07/02/2008, -5/+2My question is will they require the "Apple Certified" chip so my iPod Video 5.5gen won't work or will they not so my iPhone won't work.
- Upon66, on 07/02/2008, -8/+3Seriously? What is the world coming to, an Apple infestation?
- Sunflare670, on 07/02/2008, -10/+4So what am I supposed to do with my Zune when I go work out?
...
Haha lets be honest no one on Digg goes to the gym - patricktu, on 07/01/2008, -21/+13Who can afford an iPhone AND a gym membership?
- dannygorog, on 07/01/2008, -12/+3But who's got the time?

What is Digg?
