- nadcraker, on 10/08/2008, -0/+33It's that or free healthcare. You can't have everything.
- rovingdan, on 10/08/2008, -0/+20Why not try Last.fm if you don't live in the States it's very similar to Pandora.
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -0/+19A stable economy would suffice as well.
- enantiodromia, on 10/08/2008, -0/+17an extension was just passed, they have until Feb 09 now
- cslawren, on 10/07/2008, -2/+18Been using this from the beginning when they launched it on the AppStore and I can't say enough good things about it. It's really no surprise that it would soar when iPod Touch users like myself and iPhone users can turn their device into a portable Pandora player.
- usmevans7, on 10/08/2008, -0/+13Use http://www.last.fm if you can't use Pandora, even if you can. It syncs with the songs you play on your ipod/iphone as well and makes suggestions based on what you listen too. I've been using it for over a year and it's turned me on to a lot of groups I probably would have never found.
- ElBeh, on 10/08/2008, -0/+10Pandora was FORCED to make it US-only. It's on their FAQ. As to why it still is, they claim to not have the proper legal resources to justify going multi-national. It's the law's fault, not Pandora's.
- anonymiau, on 10/08/2008, -1/+10I'm still pissed they took it away from us Europeans. I loved Pandora and suddenly corporate lawyers just steals it off the global market. I bet Pandora could have a hundred times as many users if they had been allowed to remain global. But hooray for the little extra they got by marrying Apple.
- FTWmovin2canada, on 10/08/2008, -0/+6Exactly. I had previously used Pandora on my PC, but having it portable nearly eliminates the need to store music on my iPhone.
- SugarCoatedSalt, on 10/08/2008, -0/+5BBs are for business nuts.
- steve9924, on 10/08/2008, -2/+7I really, really wish that I could get Pandora in Canada.... :(
- enantiodromia, on 10/08/2008, -0/+5i hope Apple will step up to the plate and defend Pandora, considering it is a revenue stream for iTunes
- DiggaDave, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4I hope so too. Let Pandora know it. http://www.pandora.com/corporate/contact
- spencen66, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3gotta love that Pandora
- cthellis, on 10/09/2008, -0/+3Actually, it plays pretty well on EDGE, too. It takes longer to buffer initially so you may not want to switch channels much, but it holds reasonably well even on car rides.
Certainly the quality of the program and entertainment makes it work the occasional lapse. - dagamer34, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2You can have our crappy President if you'd like. He'll be out a job soon (THANK GOD)
- steveiskfc, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2Pretty stable in Alberta. Encana is hiring 300 IT consultants over the next few months. Hooray!
- jakatak, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2They need to deal with royalty issues by Feb. 15th or they won't be able to afford to stay in business. I would pay for this service. I hope Pandora sticks around.
- DigDugDigger, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2Apple shoulda bought Pandora and used it for the 'Genius' feature in iTunes, the 'Genius' the way it is now is pretty weak.
- KMartSheriff, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2It'd be cool if Apple bought them to help them expand globally and integrate their concepts into iTunes.
- KMartSheriff, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2I wonder why Apple doesn't support them a little and somehow use their concepts and integrate them into iTunes. What if there was a "Pandora" tab on the left side bar underneath 'iTunes Music Store'? Just an idea.
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2Pandora is the only app on my iPhone that I use daily… and I found out about it through the iPhone too…
I don't really like the ads in the new update, but at least I'm supporting them… - BrendanSheehan, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2They have a partnership with iTunes for buying music, it's part of their business model.
- kelchm, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2Give me a way to scrobble my pandora plays on last.fm please.
- neodude237, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1My iPhone really got my into Pandora, can't stop using it :D (Also, take notes RIAA, internet radio=introduction to new music=more sales for you.)
- kipmartin, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1...which there isn't, hence the iPhone's claim, 'This changes everything!" It does. It also gets Live, Sirius, XM, and AOL radio and any other radio station streaming.
Fan boy? Maybe. - rovingdan, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1me too! Sad but true.
- roastedbagel, on 10/08/2008, -3/+4Dugg for Pandora, not iPhone
Im ashamed to say I just heard of Pandora about a month ago (i know, what kind of geek am i) and I can't stop listening to it. I'm addicted is a better term, never thought they could really get a sense for what i like based on a few thumbs up and bands as examples. I love it. I feel like im late to the party :( - mjb3411, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1I love this app. I use it in the car, on the go, at work...Works great. I just wish there was an ability to skip more than 6 songs per hour. I realize this is a licensing issue but maybe they could offer a "pro" account that allowed you more skips, that could also slightly offset the new royalty hike.
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1Pandora is pretty much the best music app ever. Course, I only know of Pandora, so yeah... my opinion doesn't mean much.
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -2/+3Pandora rocks! I hope they come out with a version for the G1 and other Android powered devices.
- ElBeh, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1Heh, I've been using Pandora for a couple of years now on their site (You can check out my profile via my Digg profile and look at my stations if you'd like). It amazes me that a company of less than 50 people can do so well. I don't have an iPhone, but I got the app for my UpStage and love it!
- eSentrik, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1Canada FTW
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1I don't think they mean that the user base is growing exponentially.
I think it means that instead of 10 new users a day, they get 20, not 100. - eddywin, on 10/08/2008, -5/+6I hate this crap. the internet supposed to be about the free exchange of ideas and information. There are no borders on the internet. Sites that restrict their content by what country you're in should be removed from the internet at all costs.
- d3sp, on 10/08/2008, -2/+3Wtf I heard a few months ago Pandora was going bankrupt (due to royalties or something similar)??
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -1/+2I use pandora more than my iPod!
- DigDugDigger, on 10/10/2008, -0/+1You mean... like Apple buying SoundJam and turning it into iTunes?
- spencen66, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1it's funny, the Pandora in myths was stupid and she released bad things
but Pandora radio is the exact opposite - CSheikh, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1I like Pandora and recently purchased an iPhone. One thing (maybe it is just my iPhone) is that if I pause Pandora or quit the application, and try to return to it within a short amount of time, it will be stuck in the loading screen. I am forced to restart the iPhone in order to get Pandora to respond normally again. If anyone has any tips as to how to correct this, I would appreciate the response.
- redog, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1Yea, their page says that the ace(essentially blackjack 1.5 for sprint) is supported but their txt msg doesn't contain the download.
- wopas69, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1you can toke legally in some places too
- wopas69, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1now all i need is $$$ for a damn iphone
- nickbr00tality, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1Seconded.
- iritegood, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1Did someone just explain the concept of a proxy server on Digg?
Holy ***** do I feel old. - peter3118, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1If you reside outside of the US...then you can always go to Pandora.com via a 3rd party (US based) proxy server. This will in effect "Spoof" your IP address as a US based IP. Simply Google the phrase "Third Party Proxies" and then select any of the the US based proxies.
- usherzx, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1It's not Pandora's fault. It's the country you live in.
Go yell at the right people. - werries, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1Unless you don't have internet access or a good cell plan.
- brmast, on 10/09/2008, -1/+2Is Last.fm better than Pandora?
- enantiodromia, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1from Pandora, you have two methods to purchase music: iTunes, or Amazon.
Apple should outright buy Pandora, and use their music genome as the backend to their new Guru thing. That would be win for everyone, except Amazon. -
