- optamystic, on 08/27/2008, -13/+441How long are otherwise intelligent people going to continue to support and actively defend the thuggish business practices of this company? If Microsoft pulled ***** like this, you guys would have burned Redmond to the ground by now.
- BlueStarr, on 08/27/2008, -5/+343Clever nerds!
- chillypacman, on 08/27/2008, -30/+358Heh, the fact they have to do that shows how controlling Apple is.
I'm going to go ahead and say it: ***** Apple.
And ***** every fanboy who thinks apple is at all justified to behave this way. - whereisian, on 08/27/2008, -7/+223I hope that Android offers some serious competition so developers can work on an open platform without this ridiculous restriction. Apple is needlessly crippling themselves.
- StuartGibson, on 06/14/2009, -2/+92As long as they keep producing "Ooo, shiny" devices.
- Oddish, on 08/27/2008, -5/+82***** Apple's NDA!
- devi8dzn, on 07/07/2009, -1/+691st Rule of iPhone Development "You Do Not Talk About Develpment on The iPhone!"
2nd Rule of iPhone Development "You Do Not Talk About Develpment on The iPhone!" - t0ny, on 08/27/2008, -0/+66I'm not a Apple fanboy but I do love Apple and I agree with you. Apple ( Steve Jobs ) needs to pull their head(s) out of their/his ass. Would Windows Mobile, Palm or Blackberry be where they are now if they did this? No.
- blaket, on 08/27/2008, -1/+41I'm typing this from my Apple G5 and have a few older Macs sitting in the closet, but I have to agree ... this is starting to get out of hand. The path that Jobs and Co. have been following lately is starting to get quite annoying and it has me thinking that this might be my last Apple product.
- ACiDGRiM, on 08/27/2008, -7/+39And the funny thing is that "Micro$oft" would never actually do something that dumb. Even though they have a closed platform, they've made it easy for people to write programs for Windows mobile. It even has copy and paste AND MMS.
I here by declare my HTC Titan, with its slide out keyboard and Windows Mobile 6.1 the TRUE Jesus phone.
bury me - SirMildred, on 08/27/2008, -1/+31And yet, for merely a dollar, they have managed to bring to light Apple's retarded NDA, which is probably more important than simply ignoring it.
- StuartGibson, on 06/14/2009, -3/+31Just like Linux has with Apple and Microsoft.
- diabolicedict, on 08/27/2008, -2/+27That is why you do not put such server within US territories. Put it in Netherlands or somewhere similar.
- Hoinah, on 08/27/2008, -4/+28***** APPLE!
Posted from my iPhone - blitz718, on 08/27/2008, -15/+37***** APPLE
- StuartGibson, on 06/14/2009, -0/+21I *am* an Apple Fanboy and think they're shooting themselves in the foot by not allowing developers to talk to each other. The only possible outcome would be that better, more innovative apps get created that help sell more devices.
- winmywii, on 08/27/2008, -3/+22It's not funny to make fun of people with a mental disability.
- mynameistux, on 08/27/2008, -3/+22someone give this man a medal.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -1/+17So why is the NDA there in the first place?
- diabolicedict, on 08/27/2008, -3/+19Create an anonymous board and discuss it there. They can't sue you, if they don't know who and where you are.
- MxM111, on 08/27/2008, -1/+15If they really were clever, then they would use 1cent, instead of $1
- just my 2c - jhaydon, on 08/27/2008, -0/+13***** the NDA!
- verifex, on 08/27/2008, -4/+17That sounds like utter crap, I hope that the feverish developers of the word embraces an open platform for development in the future, like that OpenMoko thing, or Android.
- hijinks, on 08/27/2008, -3/+16Please Apple isn't enforcing anything. They have people posting on their own forums about iPhone SDK code
- marnaq, on 08/27/2008, -5/+18***** Apple!
- raynar, on 08/27/2008, -0/+13it would be nice if there was some real tutorials, instead of the crappy apple keynote presentations.
- Ryanx0r, on 08/27/2008, -4/+16Well, once a company becomes as big and as popular as say Apple... they're going to do some wierd ***** just to keep the money rolling.
I would say "Screw you Apple".. but I'm just going to say.. "Apple is a business just like any other". It's up to us, the consumer, to decide if we want to buy these sexy, yet very restrictive products.
I, for one, am not going to bucket out a ***** of cash for something that's 'cool' now.. but in a year it's just a "meh" type thing. - johnsmith3210, on 08/27/2008, -1/+13***** DNA...?
- mrloco, on 08/27/2008, -0/+11***** THE MPAA
- utnow, on 08/27/2008, -15/+26Really folks... I would challenge any of you to point to a single instance where this "NDA" has been enforced. I would settle for one.
It's much ado about nothing. There's a thriving dev community on Apple's forums as well as the many tutorial and video guide sites that have helped me out immensely.
This is really just some idiots trying to be clever, making a big deal out of nothing, and the Digg crowd showing off their incredibly misplaced sense of moral indignation for which they are so famous. - bigtimslim, on 08/27/2008, -0/+11This is what the guy who made the I am rich app came up against. He was originally making a game, but said ehhhhh ***** it.
- Pyehole, on 08/27/2008, -0/+11Doesn't his beard tickle your balls?
- drewniverse, on 08/27/2008, -0/+10It's amazing, your avatar absolutely says your a ***** retard with some tiny ass hands that couldn't do a damn thing except type a keyboard like the troll you are. Go ***** yourself.
Oh yeah, stop acting like your cool because you use 'for the love of satan'. ***** troll. - mtcobb2, on 08/27/2008, -0/+10"Cleva girl..."
RAPTOR ATTACK!!! - sudowrestler, on 08/27/2008, -0/+9The only plausible explanation I've seen for the delay in lifting the NDA is that they might think there are patentable ideas in the SDK. As long as the NDA is in effect, the SDK remains officially "unpublished," giving them time to file patents. Since Apple benefits a great deal from their developers sharing information, and normally encourages it, something like this is needed to explain why they're dragging their feet.
- cotaskmemalloc, on 08/27/2008, -3/+12I agree.
I was one of the biggest iPhone supporters from the very beginning. I bought my iPhone on the first day it came out, and as a software developer, hoped and dreamed of an SDK. But the combination of the ***** hardware, absolutely abysmal iPhone 2.0.x software and Apple's unbelievable stubborness to get their heads out of their asses has significantly decreased my hopefulness in the promise of the iPhone platform.
Screw you Apple. I'll be looking for a new phone soon. - TxAggie08, on 08/27/2008, -1/+10Apple has ALWAYS needlessly crippled themselves.
- orph3us, on 08/27/2008, -1/+10can someone explain to me a practical point of not allowing developers to share information? What are they worried about? Really, I don't get it.
- johnsmith3210, on 08/27/2008, -0/+9I'm just trying to figure out how to incorporate '$' in 'Apple'.
- joshmiao, on 08/27/2008, -0/+8We need SeaLand!
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -2/+10"lately"
LOL, you mean you just noticed what the rest of us have seen from the beginning - tweedius, on 08/27/2008, -1/+9Apple is worse then Microsoft ever was. And, the funny thing is the fanboys of Apple are the kind of people that hate this kind of secretiveness and non-disclosure and constantly rip on Microsoft's business practices. Steve Jobs is a ***** crazy mother *****.
- Fiskepinne, on 08/27/2008, -1/+9APPL€
- flangepiece, on 08/27/2008, -13/+20Apple: Bunch of *****.
- adairnic, on 08/27/2008, -1/+8I see what you did there.
- SierraAlpha, on 08/27/2008, -1/+8THEY GIVE A BAD NAME TO APPLES
- MacParrot, on 08/27/2008, -2/+9WHAT!?! You mean this is much to do about nothing? On Digg? I'm am stunned...literally shocked into silence...well except for this post.
- cawpin, on 08/27/2008, -1/+8Courts look at the LAW. I know several people who have sold their homes to their children for $1 to avoid the gift tax. That's all that is needed, legally, to avoid it.
- StrawberryFrog, on 08/27/2008, -0/+7it doesn't have to be enforced to be an issue, it has a chilling effect just by the threat that it might be enforced some day.
- hangman16, on 08/27/2008, -0/+7I do believe Apple is being irrational and should open the SDK to discussion, but I disagree with the rest of your comment. The iPhone has one major advantage over Android that will be hard to overcome: one device and easy distribution.
Android will need to be developed for multiple devices on multiple carriers (who WILL impose restrictions). What version of the program do I need for my phone? Touch based controls, button based controls, different screen sizes. This makes development more difficult, with an open source community this will hopefully be solved. Distribution is where the iPhone shines however. One software interface on your computer to the iPhone, one store, every app works on every iPhone. Simple. There is no doubt Android will result in great programs, but will developers be able to distribute them? Crush them in a matter of weeks? Haha. What Apple has accomplished in one year after entering the cell phone market is astonishing. Whether you like Apple or not you have to admit that. -
