- DBiz, on 10/10/2007, -2/+148Well at least you took some time out to put a proper description.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -6/+63He put iphone in the title, so it really doesn't matter.
- A-money, on 10/10/2007, -4/+28BREAKING: Top 10 reasons why ron pual loves the iphone, Included: Halo 3 lolcatz
- bradleyland, on 10/10/2007, -0/+23Calculator more stable? Seriously? I've got an iPhone, and I don't use the calculator much, but one would HOPE that the calculator app could be made stable out of the gate.
- allyant, on 10/10/2007, -5/+20Is it that hard just to ignore them?
- jkoke, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16CONFIRMED: Ron Paul's iPhone Hacked by NSA & AT&T (Bush Lied). AMAZING PICS INSIDE
Title says it all. - timdorr, on 10/10/2007, -7/+21From the iPhone wiki:
Here are the things we currently know about it:
* Full system wipe on modded phones (fails integrity check)
* Downgrade does not work
* The phone goes back through the activation process (DVD Jon's method has been confirmed to work still)
* Jailbreak appears to be broken as of all reports coming in, work is going on to see if it can be made to work

- tgsavel, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16For me, volume issues (for both speaker and headphone volume) are greatly improved. Map doesn't shoot off to other locations- if your finger slips. Others are saying that the calculator is more stable. Will search for more fixes.
- spargett, on 10/10/2007, -6/+16Haha... since you say you don't care at all, I take pleasure in knowing you wasted minutes of your life bitching about it to empty ears.
Good day sir. - lordtyros, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13AMAZING PICS
- chibimmy, on 10/10/2007, -7/+17Block apple and shut up.
- DaveOrZach, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Safari seems to crash less. When I zoomed on a page while it was still loading it would Safari would crash sometimes.
Anyone else finding Safari more stable? - justhim, on 10/10/2007, -14/+23One word, "iChat". Another five words, "where the hell is it?!"
- mscman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Q-tips
- spargett, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7You'll have to threaten to blow up AT&T or something to change their minds. Otherwise as far as they're concerned, why should they let Apple include a free messager when you can be spending all your money with an SMS iChat clone?
"MONEY!@#@! MONEY!@!!! MUHAHAHH!@#" - AT - rblinne, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6This is a security update just before the public sessions at Black Hat when one of the exploits plugged would have been revealed by Independent Security Evaluators. More details here:

iPhone v1.0.1 Update
Safari
CVE-ID: CVE-2007-2400
Available for: iPhone v1.0
Impact: Visiting a malicious website may allow cross-site scripting
Description: Safari's security model prevents JavaScript in remote web pages from modifying pages outside of their domain. A race condition in page updating combined with HTTP redirection may allow JavaScript from one page to modify a redirected page. This could allow cookies and pages to be read or arbitrarily modified. This update addresses the issue by correcting access control to window properties. Credit to Lawrence Lai, Stan Switzer, and Ed Rowe of Adobe Systems, Inc. for reporting this issue.
Safari
CVE-ID: CVE-2007-3944
Available for: iPhone v1.0
Impact: Viewing a maliciously crafted web page may lead to arbitrary code execution
Description: Heap buffer overflows exist in the Perl Compatible Regular Expressions (PCRE) library used by the JavaScript engine in Safari. By enticing a user to visit a maliciously crafted web page, an attacker may trigger the issue, which may lead to arbitrary code execution. This update addresses the issue by performing additional validation of JavaScript regular expressions. Credit to Charlie Miller and Jake Honoroff of Independent Security Evaluators for reporting these issues.
WebCore
CVE-ID: CVE-2007-2401
Available for: iPhone v1.0
Impact: Visiting a malicious website may allow cross-site requests
Description: An HTTP injection issue exists in XMLHttpRequest when serializing headers into an HTTP request. By enticing a user to visit a maliciously crafted web page, an attacker could trigger a cross-site scripting issue. This update addresses the issue by performing additional validation of header parameters. Credit to Richard Moore of Westpoint Ltd. for reporting this issue.
WebKit
CVE-ID: CVE-2007-3742
Available for: iPhone v1.0
Impact: Look-alike characters in a URL could be used to masquerade a website
Description: The International Domain Name (IDN) support and Unicode fonts embedded in Safari could be used to create a URL which contains look-alike characters. These could be used in a malicious web site to direct the user to a spoofed site that visually appears to be a legitimate domain. This update addresses the issue by through an improved domain name validity check.
WebKit
CVE-ID: CVE-2007-2399
Available for: iPhone v1.0
Impact: Visiting a maliciously crafted website may lead to an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution
Description: An invalid type conversion when rendering frame sets could lead to memory corruption. Visiting a maliciously crafted web page may lead to an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution. Credit to Rhys Kidd of Westnet for reporting this issue. - chrisxkelley, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6boo ***** hoo.
quit complaining then. - Rhuel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I found a major new feature, for me. My email settings for our Exchange server at work now shows ALL folders and allows me to file emails to them. Previously I was only able to see the Inbox. I was hoping for this feature to be added. I just didn't expect it so soon. Very nice.
- streak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Actually, Apple has only provided information about security updates, in Safari. They've provided no information about other, non-security related bug fixes. As noted earlier, the calculator is now fixed. No doubt there are many other bugs fixed, too.
- Ryokurin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4its a 0.1 release. Traditonally with Apple thats for a patches. Give it time.
- chrisxkelley, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6one word: balls
- omarciddo, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7You know, only lamers try to prove a point by bragging about previous predictions. Of course, you would competely be oblivious to the fact that the very bugs you harped on about have JUST BEEN FIXED. So lamer, I say to thee, ***** off, because no one gives a ***** enough about you to actually go look at your previous commenting that you treasure so much.
- SupaPuerco, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4What the hell are you talking about?
- naio, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Yes. It is now as stable as the Windows version. ;-)
- streak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4When deleting e-mail messages by swiping and pressing Delete, the iPhone now seems to recognize my intentions much more reliably. Previously, a swipe was all too often either ignored or misinterpreted as a request to open the message.
- greenldr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Uh, actually this update does fix the iPod crashing while surfing issue, it does make safari more stable, it also makes the volume from both the headphones and the in-phone speaker louder with less distortion. I'm sure there are other fixes as well...
- Darph.Bobo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Besides poor grammar, what brought you to that flawed conclusion?
- hiro, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Your grammar makes my eyes bleed
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4you will never get it
- drlha, on 10/10/2007, -5/+8One word: patience
- spargett, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7Give it time my good man.
- badjoke, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5I don't know, but it didn't make you not-ignorant.
- likwidfuzion, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5iPhone Dev Team points to the full list of changes. Notice that many things have changed, including applications like Mail, Address Book and Music Player, even if they are not noticeable on the user end.
http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/breaking/iphone-update-101-now-available-fixes-safari-security-breach-other-bugs-284625.php - slasherx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3One of the new things I see is that the mail application finally shows the folders if you have an imap account. Before the update, the folders wouldn't show except for "Inbox", but now it displays the folders I know are there, "Spam", etc.
Well, Rhuel above me already posted what I said. Good day regardless people. :) - omarciddo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4In light of this dupe, I had a revelation. What if a feature were added that would allow you to remove a story off your own front page with the click of a link? It would still be on the front page for those who haven't seen yet, but you could permanently remove it from your own front page. Good idea?
- Terc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4actually, that's what happens when you apply an image to ANY computer.
The people that hacked the phone should feel lucky that Apple took the time to implement a hash check that would wipe the phone if it the installed image was different than the factory version.
*runs off to reapply his modified files* - timusca, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Settle down there, Sparky.
- felchdonkey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2What's the matter with your stopwatch? I've been using mine a lot, and haven't seen any problems.
- frostieDude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Awesome!
- crackintosh, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4who the ***** cares what your cheap ass thinks? what does that have to do wit the update? ***** off
- PsychoPNut, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2shouldn't it be .0.1 times better?
- skinfitz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Clearly you don't understand the word 'automatically'.
- Lou3000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Personally, just to see proof of concept that the iPhone can easily be updated without causing massive phone failures. While the people who own WM5 devices twiddle their thumbs waiting for their carrier to rollout that massive WM6 update, iPhones can quickly be updated.
- gllopc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Mail messages now open and load much faster. Before I had to wait, sometimes up to 30 seconds, before they would display.
- streak, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I didn't notice a stability problem with the calculator, but after the update it now behaves like it should.
- gleepskip, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Oddly, after having used iFuntastic to add a ringtone and a custom logo in iPhone 1.0, I lost mail passwords, the voicemail password, and the photo roll during the migration to 1.0.1. I was prepared to lose everything, but I was shocked to still have my SMS logs, custom wallpaper, calendar items, stocks, clocks, weather cities, and notes.
- robdiggity, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Is the desire to keep returning to the thread to post follow ups so strong as to overcome your inherent hatred of all things iPhone?
