- dfgsdja, on 10/18/2007, -1/+22azardous chemicals?
- andrewcsayer, on 10/18/2007, -2/+17Simply wash your iPhone before using it. The chemicals are sprayed to protect the apple.
- drouk1556, on 10/18/2007, -3/+16Didn't Greenpeace lie about Apple's environmental policies before this?
- stalefries, on 10/18/2007, -1/+11Lies. There aren't any girls on the Internet.
- RyeBrye, on 10/18/2007, -0/+6but he's not a girl... He bought the Vagina on ebay. (It's not attached to his body either, and in this case - no... it isn't better if you "win" it)
- Hoxie, on 10/18/2007, -1/+6That was a production error.
The iphone with azardous chemicals is scheduled to come out for another six months at the price of $699. - karlskrona, on 10/18/2007, -0/+4SInce when is Greenpeace a company? :S
- georgios, on 10/18/2007, -0/+4Give me one reason why Greenpeace wants to lie about this report! They chase apple so much, simply because they sell million of devices around the world every year. Can you not understand that all these gadgets with an average lifespan of 1-2 years, end up in land fields polluting the environment?
These people are working for every body's future, not for their profit! - karlskrona, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3Nah I rather want to buy an organic apple!
- pastasauce, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3Can we have tests done by at least two more parties not attached to Greenpeace, Apple, and the hardware makers that can test this before we jump to conclusions?
- Mononuclear, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3I figured it was someone with a British accent that doesn't pronounce the H so you might as well not write it..
- epyon180, on 10/18/2007, -2/+4The chemicals in the iPhone are 3 to 4 years ahead of any phone on the market, hence the new adjective azardous.
- karlskrona, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2Eeehh.. "Suing"? "The Center for Environmental Health on Monday said that it has given Apple 60 days' legal notice--a step required by California law before a lawsuit is launched. The action is based on the report by environmental group Greenpeace, released Monday, that found hazardous materials in Apple's iPhone." Greenpeace is NOT suing anyone. The Center for Environmental Health on the other hand is suing. Get your facts right!
- nakile, on 10/18/2007, -1/+3Too bad Greenpeace is about as anti-apple as they come.
I like how they have the same bad things to say about Apple and Dell, but put Dell near the top of the list for offering a global take back program (that no one probably uses anyway) while Apple is near the bottom. - ZenMojo, on 10/16/2007, -1/+2Only the 499 apples have the chemicals. Early adopters got the safe version.
- dmpapwor, on 10/16/2007, -1/+2Agreed.
- slashbot, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1azardous chemicals?????
time to sue!!! - damien6669, on 10/18/2007, -2/+3Yeah. They did. I have the utmost respect for companies that work to make the world a cleaner and safer place. Greenpeace is not one of those companies. They are all about their bottom line, and politics. They are a face of a particular lobbyist organization. The fact that one of the founding members left the organization he put his life into - for just that reason, they show their true colors with ***** like this. Independent studies have shown that apple has LESS, not more hazardous materials in their products. ***** Money grubbers.
- wiszniak, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1On balance both Greenpeace and Apple have done a reasonable job on the iPhone. There are some overstated concerns by Greenpeace who used absolute numbers, as opposed to relative calculations, which give the appearance of high volumes of bad things. In fact the totals involved across the board are all under current mandated (aggressive) limits.
We should perhaps be just as concerned that people choose to spend big chunks of money on gadgets like this that have a life of 18-36 months, while the planet begs for some slack. - tehpwnrate, on 10/16/2007, -1/+1Already did today. I might need to go back and wipe again though, I just have that nagging feeling that I missed a spot. Thanks for the tip.
- Karibbean, on 10/17/2007, -0/+0Now you see, now you don't.
- MrPhultz, on 10/16/2007, -1/+1Suck it.
- MrPhultz, on 10/16/2007, -1/+1hahaha, you truly are a complete douche bag aren't you, hahahaha!
- Freeshark, on 10/17/2007, -15/+15Steve, I feel cheated! You promised us a greener Apple. What happend to the the innovative, ground breaking industry leading Apple? Seems all you care about is looking good.
- jimbo21, on 10/16/2007, -1/+1Key takeaway from the article? Don't eat your iPhone.
- inactive, on 10/17/2007, -1/+1i just bought an iphone 399, thats too bad about the azardous chemicals, im still going to use the phone. maybe by the next gen they will clean up their act....
- elnayr, on 10/17/2007, -2/+2Where are the Apple fan boys with the : "so what? it's Apple first time to make a phone..." ?
- leksdraven, on 10/16/2007, -1/+1Did this story just disappear from the front page?
- inactive, on 10/17/2007, -4/+3Green apples aren't as popular as red ones.
- Guspaz, on 10/17/2007, -3/+2Just what the world needs. More FUD.
- mapez, on 10/16/2007, -2/+1ere comes al ore to the escue.
- damien6669, on 10/16/2007, -2/+1That may be true, but red and green apples make your pee burn!
- MrPhultz, on 10/17/2007, -2/+1Go buy some colon flush you ***** cry baby.
- Shaman760, on 10/16/2007, -5/+3Hey, they had a deadline to meet. Now all you wacky environmentalists can feel real good about chatting on your godPhones. Just had to have it in your hot little hands RIGHT NOW, didntja?
- inactive, on 10/16/2007, -2/+0Seriously...take a step back away from your own life and read your comments. Even you will see how sorry your life has become.
If this was a story about how the Zune had the SAME EXACT chemicals, you would be punding away at your keyboard so hard the keys would break. - inactive, on 10/16/2007, -5/+3Moron. Seriously...it is obvious you are a fanboy, but you don't need to "defend" apple for everything. The comment that you relied to was not even that critical. Your comment makes you look RIDICULOUSLY pathetic.
- inactive, on 10/16/2007, -3/+1I just gotta do this. Because this is astonishing. The following comments were all made my MrPhools, all in response to even the SLIGHTEST anti-Apple comment...
***** Gizmodo and all you whiners. The iphone is a great phone. It's at the very least stupid for Gizmodo to inform their readers not to buy the iphone, because Apple was unable to do everything they wanted, and expect to have any clout as a legitimate
You people sound like a bunch of ***** amateurs. How many of you stop to think that Apple is not breaking these third party apps on purpose. These apps were broken as a result of Apple providing its customers with security updates and new features.
Note to all tech blogs with knee-jerk reactions and an inability to write informational pieces based on facts, and not opinions disguised as facts i.e. Gizmodo: ***** Yourself
In comes a flood of uneducated rants about how iPhone software updates work by people who don't know dick about the subject so they can twist things around to where it looks like Apple is malicious.
Know that's deep. Let me guess... Your 12 years old. (NOTE:...little boy Phools...it it YOU'RE. Nice job proving YOUR age.)
Get a life.
One question... Is the writer a ***** stoner? Who the ***** writes this *****?
And the same could be said of assclowns
Smoke too much weed today?
Learn to spell douche bag. (Funnier when you think back to the YOUR comment above)
Engadget eats it off your mom's ass.
I just ***** your mom in the ass with a tire iron. hahahaha
No more BS than what your mom did with that mud-shark at the hotel last night.
***** yourself
Don't ***** yourself, you don't know dick about surveys.
As soon as your finished eating out Ballmer's ass while Gates shoves dollars in your anus.
Exactly! That "Digg me down fanboys" is way to ***** presumptuous.
@TGMD I dugg you down for being a douche with that fanboy comment.
Not nearly as much suck as your mom has on any given day.
I guess that means the rest of the population are just a bunch of Apple fanboys. Go crawl in a ***** *****.
You better find a better outlet for your heterophobic tendencies.
***** Yourself (Again)
You can also stop trying to suck your own *****.
Go take a *****.
Go buy some colon flush you ***** cry baby
Suck it.
So, it is clear that MrPhools goes through life thinking that he needs to defend Apple. That's a GREAT life you've got MrPhools. I am sure all the women are after you. - inactive, on 10/16/2007, -2/+0Seriously...take a step back, and go to your COMMENTS page....http://digg.com/users/MrPhultz/history/comments... ... realize how ridiculously juveilne you sound.
- dbarkman, on 10/16/2007, -9/+6So is Greenpeace suing for money or just to make Apple fix their products. Maybe this is how Greenpeace makes money.
Also, the people reporting this need to read what they wrote more closely and stop saying iPhones have bad chemicals when it's the wires for the earbuds that have bad chemicals, not the iPhone itself. - wewa, on 10/17/2007, -11/+8apple is a hypocritical corporation, just like any other u.s. corp.
nothing to be surprised about... - Erythroxylum, on 10/17/2007, -4/+0Apple make phones to make money, not to adhere to the quixotic world views of some hippies that go around in boats (that the French - the French! - occasionally sink), trying to make everyone else's lives miserable just because they've managed to wreck their own lives through a combination of being stupid and naive.
When said hippies get jobs and become consumers of things like iphones, that - and not until - is when Apple give two ***** what Greenpeace have to say about anything at all. 'Oh, you don't think our product is 'green' enough? So what.' - mjoshi, on 10/16/2007, -10/+6haha good to see that Apple fanboys are not digging this one....
- HonestAbe, on 10/16/2007, -9/+4I dislike Apple and I hate Greenpeace. Who should I be rooting for here? I'm torn!
- MrPhultz, on 10/17/2007, -14/+7Go take a *****.
- inactive, on 10/16/2007, -11/+3i like to put my iphone in my vagina
