  • greenvortex, on 07/15/2009, -1/+4So this disables the tethering hack for AT&T customers. I tried out tethering with a Windows XP laptop yesterday and it worked so-so. The speed is reminiscent of dial-up, and I noticed long delays during DNS resolution. A few popular sites would not resolve at all. I would probably only need this couple times a year for traveling, if that. You'd have to be really desperate to use this every day for even a few minutes a day. Honestly, you are better off just using your iPhone to do almost anything web-related than trying to tether and suffer such pokiness. AT&T is kidding themselves if they think that people who are already paying for their outrageous data plans will fork over even more for 3G tethering with this kind of performance.
