- OneManArmy, on 10/28/2007, -2/+41GUYS PLEASE READ THIS:
If you used the old anySIM/iUnlock on 1.0.2 then the new anySIM will not work. The devs are working on a way to truely virginize previously unlocked phones with old anySIM. - noreturn, on 10/16/2007, -0/+9You first.
- RevJonathan, on 10/17/2007, -1/+7I love the dev team, I really do, but they should have tested anysim a little more before the 1.0.2 release. NVRAM corruption is not cool. I know we agreed to it in the first place, but we wait for the easier unlocks for security reasons. Oh well, I'll keep checking their website until they can fix the previous damage.
- dagamer34, on 10/17/2007, -0/+5Just like the early iPhone adopters, first to be cool also means first to be screwed.
- Marku$, on 10/16/2007, -5/+9I actually agree with you. i wish people would stop calling what they are doing to their iphones 'hacking'. what the dev team is doing is considered hacking. you are just installing their software = NOT HACKING
- jonnyeh, on 10/17/2007, -1/+5so why don't you want to mod the iphone?
- digudown, on 10/16/2007, -1/+5If you cherish your iPhone make the full use of it. Unlock it so that you can use it in the next foreign trip :D
- cave, on 10/17/2007, -0/+3Where is my 1.0.2 anysim undoer already!? :(
- br0ken1128, on 10/17/2007, -0/+3I had previously unlocked with anysim but then I decided to ahead and buy iphonesimfree when I read about the corruption to the baseband that anysim has caused.. when iphonesimfree announced they not only unlock but they also repair the baseband damage, I was sold ..
The process wasn't painless really, it meant upgrading to 1.1.1.1 to "brick" my phone, follow the dev teams tutorial for downgrading and then manually activate using iasign... once I did all that, I could run iphonesimfree and repair the baseband as well as "properly" unlock the phone (whatever that means)) .. at any rate.. a few hours later, my phone is back up and running with 1.0.2 and iphonesimfree as my unlock (tmobile user) - nonokiaboy, on 10/16/2007, -0/+2Ghostbusters
- fuegosecret, on 10/17/2007, -0/+2Dev Team's work is commendable... they rule... But don't lose sight of the fact that App Tapp (Installer.app and package management) isn't yet supported in 1.1.1 -- last I heard, most of the packages weren't yet working in 1.1.1
Thanks, Dev Team, but now we turn our lonely eyes to ... 1.1.1 3rd party developers - digudown, on 10/16/2007, -1/+2Choice to bury it too..
- bambala, on 10/17/2007, -3/+4Why should I cherish a phone? I have fun hacking the ***** out of it. If it breaks - I'll get a new one.
- br0ken1128, on 10/16/2007, -1/+2My question .. after having gone through the whole process of upgrading to 1.1.1.1 purely to brick my phone so I could revert back and repair it with iphonesimfree (former anysim user) .. now that my baseband is correct and my phone is unlocked with iphonesimfree (tmobile user) .. is it safe for me to upgrade to 1.1.1.1? I mean I know I can go through all the crap I did before to get back to 1.0.2.. but can I activate my phone upon updating? do I need to do any prep? this is off topic I know .. just trying to see what my options are..
- vwvan, on 10/17/2007, -2/+3let freedom ring!
- JeremyTTU, on 10/17/2007, -6/+7If you REALLY like your iPhone and already have AT&T service, PLEASE don't try and unlock your phone for fun. There is no point and you don't want to end up having a brick later down the road.
Jailbreaking your phone will not hurt upgrading to 1.1.1 from 1.0.2, but because of the way the free unlock anySIM worked, it made a firmware change somewhere that made 1.1.1 not be able to activate.
If you cherish your iPhone, don't mess with it. In time, it will be opened up and you will have more fun with it. - jasarien, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1... Just restore your iPhone before you do it...?
- cpostier, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1Video of anySIM 1.1 Unlock on a iPhone 1.1.1 Firmware.... Works w/ T-Mobile..
http://youtube.com/watch?v=-LzvbSUl5MM - cave, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1Actually, jailbreaking for 3rd party apps is pretty safe, the dodgy procedure is the SIM-unlocking. I've never heard of anyone ending up with a brick just by installing installer.app.
And IMO it is a lot more fun to use 3rd party apps now because of the whole 'forbidden fruit' factor :P - darkNiGHTS, on 10/16/2007, -1/+2WTF?
- jsantos17, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1yes
- digudown, on 10/16/2007, -1/+2Well this means iphone dev team gets the donations not you ;)
- stockjones, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1Haha Apple. They are manic depressive. No you cannot unlock the phone..yes you can unlock the phone..
- kkiran, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1Any issues with this yet?
- AndrewWiggin, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1That's who I'd call.
- RevJonathan, on 10/16/2007, -1/+1Yeah I can't wait to have apple review every app that can be installed! No thanks, I'll keep the jailbreak.
- mirunit, on 10/26/2007, -1/+1Because I can buy a real phone, that I can develop for and will not have to worry about constant re-locking. Also, a phone is a vital tool and I need it to work. Modding is great, but for me it should be kept off things that are mission critical.
- marques99, on 10/16/2007, -3/+3I unlocked my phone with the unlock files provide during 1.0.2. I did all the hard stuff like commandline and uploading files to my iPhone via ftp. It was actually fun to do. I would guess that that method would be the same as the old anySIM? Any thoughts?
- AndrewWiggin, on 10/17/2007, -1/+1Does anyone else wonder why we get this information from sources other than the dev team itself? Meanwhile, the dev team's homepage has not been updated (and Erica wrote this article for TUAW about 5 hours ago). I'm not skeptical of the info, but I am hesitant about the obscure specifics.
- betobeto, on 10/16/2007, -3/+2Dugg for "virginize".

- gmarsch, on 10/16/2007, -4/+3"my post was stupid and not reliable"
QFT - frostbyt, on 10/16/2007, -2/+0I used the software but now I have this message from ATT to call them.
What should I do? - mikehill33, on 10/16/2007, -3/+1call who?
- mikehill33, on 10/16/2007, -7/+3oh boy....another unlock digg.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
- BullfrogJones, on 10/16/2007, -5/+0http://www.duggmirror.com
- mirunit, on 10/16/2007, -9/+41.1.1 Unlocked! Then here comes 1.2.1. Honestly, either buy a real smartphone or take your locked carrier and wait until apple opens up (if they do) to third parties. Now please realize, I enjoy modding myself - anything from xbox's to calculators.
- mikepictor, on 10/16/2007, -6/+1Ok, you aren't hacking, but the software *is* hacking. You still get a hacked iPhone....whoever did the actual hacking. Does it really matteR?
- eekfuh, on 10/16/2007, -11/+5YAY for an easy unlock to help the non-hackers feel 'elite'.
- gmarsch, on 10/16/2007, -8/+2Can I get a woot woot?
- jazzmichael, on 10/22/2007, -8/+2I have not really interesting about how iPhone going to do with their LOCK/UNLOCK business because i am not planning to get it.
This will be a good news to those iPhone hardcore. Let's see how the thing go on. - greensauce, on 10/16/2007, -11/+3If you have a hacked phone restore it using iTunes and THEN upgrade to 1.1.1 and THEN use anySIM 1.1
- lobasuu, on 10/16/2007, -12/+3Seriously, how many "iPhone 1.1.1 has been unlocked!" stories do we need?
- Cryptkeeper, on 10/28/2007, -17/+1lol, posted this 1.5 hour ago :p but my post was stupid and not reliable (just basicly on my forum). only 4 diggs. probably buried by now.
