- ncapone, on 10/08/2008, -1/+16I just want a flip phone that makes the Star Trek communicator sound when I open it. Is it that hard?
- RobotBuddha, on 10/07/2008, -1/+16Would have been a bit more amusing if the "no apps running in background" was kept in mind. Killer swarms of nanobots that can do anything, provided you don't need to check your email at the same time.
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -0/+10My old Nokia flip phone had a button on the side that, when you push it, would flip itself open. I loaded it up with a homemade Communicator ringtone. Voila!

BTW: am I the only person who clicked on the story hoping for actual iPhone apps?
/disappointment - skidooer, on 10/08/2008, -0/+5There's always backgrounder to stick the process in the background if you jailbreak your phone.
- RobotBuddha, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4Thank you!! I had no idea backgrounder existed. That thing just made app store apps a hundred times more useful.
- meamog, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4Agreed. But if you have an iPhone, you can make some Trek ringtones, and use something like this as a wallpaper:

- gn0stik, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3Better: An LCARS theme for iphone.

- billbugger, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3Or tear your pants apart trying to get back.
- Angostura, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3The site's down. Did the article mention Dr Horrible's van remote control?
- nickels, on 10/08/2008, -1/+4Are you angry because it costs so much money or because you don't have one? My iPhone is the *****!
This is digg - if everyone agreed with you then there wouldn't be so many front page articles about it. Don't digg it or read the article if it bothers you that much. Better yet don't waste the extra 15 seconds by coming in here and telling us how you feel. - NidStyles, on 10/08/2008, -3/+6Seriously, I don't care if I get reported or dugg down, but ***** THE iPHONE. It's an over-rated piece of plastic, and having three to five front page articles of it all of the time is getting stupid.
- RobotBuddha, on 10/08/2008, -1/+3Meh, it's a platform. That's like saying five front page articles about software running on windows is stupid.
- EllipsisAeon, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1All of these have already been developed for the Google Android platform, along with a rectal thermometer/toothbrush.
- TheFounder, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1I so want that... :)
- UselessTrivia, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1My former boss had a phone that did that. It was some sort of an older Palm-based smart phone from a few years ago. It could be configured to play a sound when you opened the lid, and that was the one he put in. The future is NOW!
- MiDri, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1Luckily Apple installed the backdoor in the 2.0 firmware that would allow them to delete the BombAcitavtor.app right off your phone!
- migitalwarfare, on 10/08/2008, -1/+2203 diggs and the site is down already
- migitalwarfare, on 10/08/2008, -1/+1i spent the first year complaining about all the iphone hype, complained about how it can't do this, or that, and it's other annoying little faults. i bought one about 2 months ago, was super excited about it, and then about 3 weeks later went back to being annoyed by all the missing features that every other phone has, the restrictions placed on it by apple, the bugs, and the crashes. i jailbroke it, and that gave me another week of interest in it before it got old again.
when my contract is up, i'm getting a different phone. the iphone is most definitely overrated, and i'm speaking from experience. having a phone that crashes all the time is like having a fire extinguisher that sometimes shoots confetti - Karkian, on 10/08/2008, -2/+2Dumb. Buried. These are just sci-fi ideas it'd be nice if any phone could do. Or any mp3 player or hand held games console or even your damn laptop.
***** all to do with the iPhone. - Bortoni, on 10/08/2008, -1/+1When I worked at MOT making phones for Nextel... we had that internally. It was pretty cool. Then Marketing found out and asked us to not do have it. They didn't want the customer (Nextel) to ever see it. We disregarded the order of course.
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -2/+1rmemeber that crappy movie where the guy somehow could set off bombs, guns, etc from his touchscreen phone? what was it? vantage point? yes.

What is Digg?
