Thank god. - mmd1080, on 06/20/2009, -0/+76Warning: This is not an article.

- yevkasem, on 06/20/2009, -2/+34why can't apple just post a change log like every ***** other software release.
- rick2k, on 06/20/2009, -1/+24First thing that came to my head.
- kanningt, on 06/20/2009, -6/+28Link to simple list of updates that skips Gizmofo duplicate article: http://www.iphoneuserguide.com/apple/2009/06/12/ip ...
- slowspin, on 06/20/2009, -3/+18HUGE find here:
"if you start a movie/tv show on wifi. and go off the wifi network. itll finish over 3g. (found by furtherout)"
That is MAJOR since Apple isn't allowing people to technically download TV or movies over 3G this is a great loophole. - timusca, on 06/20/2009, -0/+133.0 was free, tool. And even if you're talking about buying a new iPhone, you can get one for $99.
- cmt5061, on 06/20/2009, -0/+12That was truly annoying, because 'lol' would be the last word in the text and when you hit send, you would look like a huge dousche having LOL at the end

- cthellis, on 06/20/2009, -2/+12The original iPhone doesn't have the radio for it. MMS is an extension to SMS that's part of the 3GPP standard. The original iPhone would have needed "EDGE Evolution" capability, at the very least... But for most phones, it just comes part and parcel with their 3G radio.
It would be nice if they allowed you to do so over IP, however, so you could send them by proxy when you're on WiFi. But other apps can do that. - Flytrap, on 06/20/2009, -1/+9I still have that phone... as well as the iPhone 3G.
I had to chuckle when I read that because it is so true.
But then, I could never swap my iPhone for the HTC. The iPhone doesn't have everything, it still doesn't, but what is there is so beautifully put together that I actually use all the features, unlike the HTC which had lots more, but boy, unless I had a manual with me all the time, so much stuff was just burried under so many menus and pop-up menus.
So as a person who has used almost every version if WinMo since the Cassiopeia E105 (the first colour WinCE), I now realise that it is not about how comprehensive the feature list is, but rather how functional it is. - KibblesnBitts, on 06/20/2009, -8/+14....................../´¯/)

- heyimfromreddit, on 06/21/2009, -0/+6@yevjasem: like the one they show you in iTunes before you update to 3.0?
- goeric, on 06/20/2009, -0/+6Dugg for "uncultured *****", buried for the rest because mine is fine.
- ATL, on 06/20/2009, -1/+6sick burn
- MrYellow, on 06/20/2009, -1/+6This list is for the iPhone 3.0 OS not the 3Gs.
- ehaugan, on 06/21/2009, -0/+5Really? You can rent movies on other smartphones?
- heyimfromreddit, on 06/21/2009, -1/+6@LeonFlux I'm sick of people like you with your elitist anti-lol *****. I've been using the internet for 14 years – "lol" is a word to me. I don't use it when posting on forums, comments, or writing emails, but god dammit I use it on IM with friends.

#34 says that you now can indeed download movies, tv shows, podcasts, and audiobooks starting from the 3G network just fyi - rabidmonk, on 06/20/2009, -0/+4Unknown incoming calls show the location of the call (found by jinjo235)
Really?! Surely this defeats the purpose of withholding your number? - Chairboy, on 06/21/2009, -0/+4> Really?! Surely this defeats the purpose of withholding your number?
Why the ***** should I, the iPhone user, be upset about this?
But anyhow, you misunderstand what they mean by 'unknown'. They're talking about numbers that aren't associated with a contact in your phone list. It tells you the city & state of it by doing an area code/prefix lookup. - ihatepeterh, on 06/21/2009, -0/+4The 3GS is TECHNICALLY capable of it, yes. The hardware is capable. However, the hardware has been under-clocked, presumably to increase battery life, so I doubt that's a feature many, if any, of us could ever take advantage of.
- ATH025, on 06/20/2009, -1/+5You mean the typical user base for the iPhone/iTouch that drives to work with their phones paired to their cars through bluetooth and want to change tracks using in-car controls? Yeah totally esoteric.
- rodrigo74, on 06/21/2009, -0/+4Of all the updates on 3.0, these are the two I wanted most badly.
- DDme, on 06/21/2009, -0/+4errr well it's cheap in the UK :p
- fungible, on 06/21/2009, -0/+4"Curse words are no longer auto-corrected." Okay. That's huge. ***** fantastic.
- WiseWeasel, on 06/21/2009, -0/+3It's not you, it's the stupid ***** you say... That and you can't even spell "loser".
- kipmarlowe, on 06/21/2009, -0/+3And you do realize that Apple's iPhone was an embryo THREE YEARS AGO? Apple just got into the phone business. Don't worry, for Pete's sake, it'll all even out eventually, and we'll all have plenty of choice when it comes to usable smart devices.
We fanboys should just welcome every new player, be it iPhone or Zune phone, or whatever. It's all good for us and, thankfully, gone are the days of crippled phones, the features of which were dictated by the phone companies instead of the phone makers.
For those of you who legitimately just don't like using the iPhone, its existence hasn't been all that bad, has it?
I'm an iPhone (and Mac) user that hopes Palm survives, and that the Zune makes a successful transition into the phone biz. Really now, is that so strange? - wilhoitm, on 06/20/2009, -2/+5When can I start using MMS?
- Nebarik, on 06/21/2009, -0/+3no, they had call logs before. but it only listed the contact name, in 3.0 it now lists the contact name and number (incase you have more then 1 number associated to one contact "home, mobile, work, etc")
- cthellis, on 06/20/2009, -0/+3Didn't suck. Was just disappointing. Now it indeed rocks. ^_^
Though I wish you could feed your subscriptions into the iPod app as well, so that you never have to switch back and forth, or could whip up a playlist and just let it go to town. - PunkRampant, on 06/21/2009, -1/+4I came in here to digg whoever posted lyrics, but you killed it by posting ALL the lyrics. Should have known, the way this works is each person posts some lyrics at a time until the whole thread makes the song, then someone takes a screenshot and makes a new submission.
But you RUINED it. Tom Delonge would be so disappointed. - kezekiel, on 06/20/2009, -0/+3Relax, nocos. It's not about you as a person. If you need validation, buy a puppy.
I like puppies. - t0ny, on 06/21/2009, -0/+3You can buy a phone for $0.50?
- cthellis, on 06/20/2009, -0/+2No problems here. What's the problem on your end?
I've noticed that YouTube search isn't handled quite the same on the iPhone as on a desktop PC, but it's never been a big deal. - teckieee, on 06/21/2009, -0/+2ipod touch owners should be advised since there are no information what so ever on itunes store or any of their ads that says the bluetooth is only limited to A2DP headphones for stereo lisnening. You will still NOT be able to use your bluetooth headset for calling via any voip app out there, it is only for listening music. I wished i knew that before wasting my 10 bucks, i feel misleaded by apple.
- inactive, on 06/21/2009, -0/+2Fleshlight?
- mrBitch, on 06/21/2009, -0/+2Protip : wbuffet is so cute when he's angry...
- derektherock42, on 06/20/2009, -0/+2Broke YouTube? They saved YouTube. YouTube on iPhone sucked until now, now it rocks.
- cthellis, on 06/20/2009, -0/+2Jailbroken iPhones can do all sorts of things, can't they?
I'm not saying it's "impossible," I'm just specifying where the official support lies, but from Apple's SDK and the carrier.
I rather imagine SwirlyMMS is sending regular ol' IP traffic through the cell network and pushing things along from there, and it's too minimal an impact for AT&T to track or care about.
But if it were kosher by carrier rules, Swirly'd be on the regular App Store as well, eh? AT&T doesn't want to route a giant uptick in MMS bandwidth through their old connections. - ricopicouk, on 06/21/2009, -0/+2Definition of "AVRCP"
The Audio/Video Remote Control Profile is a Bluetooth profile that allows Bluetooth devices to control media playback on remote devices. It is typically used with A2DP devices for next/previous track selection and pause/play functions.
Also known as: "Audio/Video Remote Control Profile" - DelMonte, on 06/21/2009, -0/+2Let me guess... Your iPhone/iPod touch was jailbroken in 2.x before you did the 3.0 update and you restored your data from a backup?
It's a long standing issue with Jailbreaking: restoring from a backup after upgrading a Jailbroken iPhone will break Youtube.
There's an app on Cydia called "Youtube fix" or something like that. If you don't intend to jailbreak again your only solution is to reinstall 3.0 (restore) without restoring from a backup. - AdamWest2122, on 06/21/2009, -0/+2Force quit should rarely be needed so Apple moved the function. Hold the lock button until prompted to power off, release then hold home button.
- heyimfromreddit, on 06/21/2009, -0/+211 is the max number of pages. Apps that don't fit in the pages are still accessible by searching for them. However, that would require you to have about 200 apps and that really is too many.
- wastern, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1The new phone is $199. the old 3G is now $99
...tool - sunnydaize, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1yeah sometimes the lol is just not that serious!!
