- ispeakasian, on 07/09/2008, -3/+48i dont think that an iphone is heavy enough to crush a blackberry.
- Ouze, on 07/10/2008, -5/+44I'll take "***** that won't happen" for 50, Alex!
- naffets, on 07/09/2008, -7/+35Perhaps this should have an opinion tag somewhere? It's not like it's proven fact that the 3G iphone will flatten then entire blackberry platform.
I still find it odd that windows mobile doesn't get compared at all in mobile data device comparisons like this one.. - shark72, on 07/10/2008, -6/+34Buried as lame for the amateurish troll attempt.
- SupaFlyTNT, on 07/09/2008, -11/+38Iphone is quite good, but they don't call them crackberrys for nothing.
- skyshock1, on 07/10/2008, -3/+29LOL! Blackberries aren't going anywhere.
- Mickeh65, on 07/10/2008, -6/+28Obvious troll is obvious.
- idbjoshm, on 07/10/2008, -3/+21in America, to get an Iphone ... you need to have ATT. Whereas Blackberry, you can use with any network.
- gaapgod, on 07/10/2008, -7/+24You guys just don't understand. Multinational corporations (including mine) are going to heavily subsidize the purchase of new Blackberries, whereas the iPhone will remain rediculously overpriced.
- ut2k4king, on 07/10/2008, -5/+20I'm going to say that no, the iPhone won't crush the Blackberry, at least not anytime soon. Anyone who's typed out a full email on the iPhone and then on the Curve knows EXACTLY what I'm saying. The iPhone's a great device with nice hardware and a fantastic OS blah blah *Insert Steve Jobs wank here.* But businesses are always going to go with what they've used before and RIM only continues to improve upon its products. IF RIM slumps in design ideas, and the masses salivating for the Bold and the Thunder show that it hasn't, then the iPhone could snatch away a significant userbase. That's a big if, and it's unlikely to happen anytime soon. Massive change occurs slowly, if at all, in any major business-oriented market.
- ut2k4king, on 07/10/2008, -5/+19Funny old world, isn't it? I just dumped my iPhone off for a Curve. Oh sure I'll still use it as a Jailbroken internet device, but the Blackberry is infinitely more useful to me. The physical QWERTY keyboard, the exchange service, and the BB OS all trumped over Apple's offerings. Now if only RIM would release a Desktop client for the Mac.
- WatchDoit, on 07/09/2008, -20/+32I'm trading in my Blackberry for an iPhone on Friday!
- youareretarded, on 07/09/2008, -1/+13You are assuming RIM comes out with a new device (like the thunder) but I'm talking about current devices.
RIMs current devices are way ahead of the iphone or can be via software updates (html email for example) in terms of features but the browser to be any where near as good would, at the very least, need a bigger screen and that's something no software update can bring;) - smb3d, on 07/10/2008, -3/+14Can you recieve MMS messages with photos on the iphone yet? Nope. You stil have to log into a computer enter some cryptic code number and view the image. How convienient.
- ilikekittens, on 07/10/2008, -5/+15Um...wake me up when the iPhone has a real keyboard and cut/paste ability.
And when Opera Mini is no longer supported on Blackberry. - dajernts, on 07/09/2008, -5/+15"Respondents also produced a wish list of features back then that pretty much is the iPhone 3G now; meanwhile, the BlackBerry does e-mail." I'm interested to know, besides the touchscreen, what are all these mysterious features the iphone has that the Bold and other Blackberry phones don't.
"An extraordinary four-in-five iPhone owners (78%) report they're Very Satisfied with their iPhone." I never like these satisfaction stats especially concerning the iPhone. Realistically, because of all the press and hype/hoopla just having an iphone makes people feel good. I strongly believe most iphone owners were "very satisfied" with their phones before they even got them, regardless of whether they lived up to expectations. - Joomal, on 07/10/2008, -7/+17HAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHA
Ok I'm done. Let's talk seriously now.
Blackberry is what it is because of the security it has for IT professionals. Sorry, but the iphone is great for home residential people, but for business, it's laughable.
RIM has encryption and IT policies on its side. iPhone has... a waste of time on its side. You really think CEOs are going to give a phone that will waste time and bandwidth to their employees at a cost of massive security?
Get real. - ut2k4king, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1095% of all statistics are fabricated.
- Gunsotsu, on 07/10/2008, -3/+12"as it appears clear what those Treo users will be buying, and it's not a BlackBerry Bold."
You're right, we're all buying Centros. - Ouze, on 07/10/2008, -3/+12That sounds like an awesome report that showed that people use 10 or more functions on the iphone, as compared to other PDA's. Was it a part of the same bulletin from the Department of Made-Up Statistics that showed businesses moving over to the iphone and macs?
- buddhistMonkey, on 07/10/2008, -1/+10((( "Correct me if I'm wrong..." )))
You're wrong. In an ironic twist of timing, Apple is releasing the 2.0 version of the iPhone OS tomorrow morning, and all v1 iPhones can upgrade for free through iTunes. - kappuru, on 07/10/2008, -2/+10You're wrong. Firmware updates through iTunes.
- Daxx22, on 07/10/2008, -0/+8Whilst typing, hold down Alt+Enter, and choose you language you want to type in.
Clearly, you've never used a BlackBerry. - ospsp, on 07/10/2008, -7/+15it sucks so bad its not worth the effort.
and its made by microsoft. - DanMiller, on 07/10/2008, -3/+10The Pearl is a giant pile of *****. As for the OS, it's slow and clunky. I hate my blackberry so much it hurts.
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -5/+12I have RIM shares (making of blackberries) and I hope this ain't true. IMO, blackberries will remain the tools of businessman for their brand names and IPHONEs will dominate smaller, more regular users. Both apparels have their advantages and disadvantages.
- onlinetreason, on 07/09/2008, -7/+14I know way too many people that complain about this Iphone.. The hype for this phone will blow over just like all of the other ones.
- cheeseron, on 07/10/2008, -5/+11SELL
- vinod1978, on 07/10/2008, -2/+8Not really - there are still bitching about certain features that are lacking with the iPhone. Personally I think that mass email deletion should have been available from day 1 and there are similar functions like the lack of MMS that make me upset, however there are just so many functions on the iPhone that make it THE best portable mobile device for anything. With the iPhone 2 software & AppStore there will be very little left out (software wise) that the iPhone will not be able to do. All with an incredible OS.
- sputza, on 07/10/2008, -6/+12Apple has the consumer market won over. I plan on buying a 16gb iPhone 3G on Friday (I have a Blackberry 8700r currently). Its the corporate market that will be hard to win over. Blackberry Enterprise Server is awesome. Not to mention, the Blackberry's security settings that made it the choice of most governments.
- shank2001, on 07/10/2008, -1/+7I can type WAY faster on my iTouch than on my smartphone with its chicklet keyboard, want to know how? You have to TRUST THE AUTO-CORRECTION. It is amazing. Once you learn to trust it (unlike the auto-correction on my smartphone, which SUCKS) you can type with blazing speed! I can actually take notes as people are speaking with my ipod touch, which I could never do with my smartphone keyboard.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -1/+7Too bad the iPhone costs $3k/year here.
- dsgamer, on 07/10/2008, -0/+650% of the time
- ronaldmonster, on 07/10/2008, -4/+10No it won't. My blackberry is perfect and has features and expandability the iphone wish it had.
- edstate, on 07/09/2008, -9/+15Sure they can.
- unknown32, on 07/10/2008, -0/+6This is only a remote possibility after Iphone receives full BES integration. Yeah I don't see RIM giving that functionality soon or without a HUGE premium. Also let say one day Iphone does receive this ability. Let see current Iphone users get unauthorized devices to be added to an BES server.
If the company is secure that might never happen. I get it Iphone is a great devices for merging phone , web browsing, email , and wi-fi. But without the BES connectivity RIM / blackberry are fine.
btw. Before I am consider nothing but an apple basher I own 1G firewire IPOD (!) for windows, video and a touch. - coolkatz321, on 07/10/2008, -2/+7But the Zune 80 > Ipod Classic. Is this suggesting that Blackberries are better but won't win?
- smb3d, on 07/10/2008, -1/+6nice try, but it's pretty easy, just press alt + enter on the blackberry
- geniusj, on 07/10/2008, -4/+9They also have a keyboard (and copy/paste!).. Not commenting on how legitimate the complaint is or isn't, but it's a big deal to many people.
- kinseyincanada, on 07/10/2008, -2/+7I think i huge reason why the iPhone is so successful is how easy it is to use, and the average user can use all the functions on the phone very easily, with Blackberries its harder to use all the functions and apps.
- Stea1th, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4alt - enter you nub...
- WiZZLa, on 07/10/2008, -1/+5well vinod1978,
1) you fail at copypasta as the iPhone came out June 29, 2007, so I doubt that iPhone owners were reporting how satisfied they were of it on June 12, 2007
2) none of the "statistics" you posted prove your previous "fact" that "people use 10 or more functions on an iPhone then compared to any other smart phone available," therefore you fail again, and with "facts and statistics from a report" this time. - vinod1978, on 07/10/2008, -5/+9Actually I have. I used the older ones, and the one of the newest one called the Pearl. That whole one button controlling everything is annoying as hell - but thanks for asking.
- calroot, on 07/10/2008, -1/+5Yeah! *****, I own RIM as well and have seen their stock rise over the past few years giving me the paper profits. I want to hold it long, but it doesn't look so promising for the near future. It appears that despite RIM having a series of products in the horizon, they are freakin innovation laggards. IMO, I think that they got too comfortable with the BB Curve and Pearl, those products where tailored to consumers but other than the camera it was nothing groundbreaking. They got to get their ***** together. Now their time to market for Thunder is approximately 4 months away and translates to a full 1 year in technology.
I think I'm going to get an iPhone. - shank2001, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4Good, your loss. Now leave.
- vinod1978, on 07/10/2008, -2/+6100% agree. You can have a device that has more functionality, but if only a small percentage of people actually use it - what is the point? The point of a smart phone is for people to actually utilize the features on the phone, not simply to say they have the feature but never use them. That is why the iPhone is such a great device. Most people that use the iPhone use 10+ features - how many smart phones can actually say that?
- brundlefly76, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4My point was that the chart declares iPhone as 'crushing' the Blackberry by comparing the Blackberry to the iPhone in the iPhone's market - consumers - without considering the Blackberry's market - enterprise.
But thanks for the 'idiot' add-on, that was really appropriate. - shank2001, on 07/10/2008, -2/+6We will see won't we. I have a feeling you will be eating your words in a few months here.
- Elranzer, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3I'm not sure where you're all getting this from. Windows Mobile is the dominant Smartphone OS out there (if you don't count Symbian OS, which isn't technically smartphone).
- shank2001, on 07/10/2008, -1/+4I have owned many Pocket PCs over the years including the old Windows CE clam-shell with large qwerty keyboard version, and let me tell you, NONE of them can compare to the ease of use and the amazing well thought out interface on my ipod Touch. My ipod touch is what convinced me to get the 3G. If I hadn't gotten an ipod touch, I might think like you guys do. But it really is THAT good!! The Safari browser, sheer genius how slick it is!
