- Zain123, on 07/09/2008, -1/+20Step 1: Don't read this article.
Step 2: Don't bother waking up early on Friday; walk in to an Apple or AT&T store as you normally would and purchase an iPhone.
I doubt there will be a shortage. - cnicodemus, on 07/09/2008, -3/+22****Guide NOT for Canadian Use*****
- ToastPop, on 04/17/2009, -2/+20And if you're in Canada, don't buy one at all so Rogers will be forced to give us better rates! :)
- idiotsavant, on 07/08/2008, -7/+20I won't be satisfied until it can blend.
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -1/+14How to score one?
Yeah, because the last one was so hard to get
[insert eyeroll here] - castevens, on 07/09/2008, -1/+8I feel like I just read the fine print of buying a iPhone 3G
- inactive, on 07/08/2008, -5/+12Good thing I live in Iowa and people have no clue what the iPhone is.
I'll walk right in at 8 and grab one :) - newstart, on 07/09/2008, -1/+8I cant take the pressure of the iPhone launch, I am going to Canada to cool off for sometime. I hear nothing of importance gets launched in Canada.
- n8to, on 07/09/2008, -0/+6Steps in Canada:
Walk in, hand over wallet, bend over... - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -1/+7And in Canada, we're doing the exact opposite.
- Moisgreat, on 07/09/2008, -0/+6I think I'll wait for the 20kb Jitterbug to come out. The buttons will be even bigger.
- Karmavs, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3July 11. Like everywhere else.
Optus, Vodafone, or Telstra stores. - freaky2k, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3Why would you even want an iPhone? It's overpriced (yes, yes it is). You have 1 choice for a service provider (***** corporate greed...keep supporting it, go ahead). It really isn't ALL THAT (something for sure, but ALL THAT?).
Oh and there won't be any shortages so this article is stupid. - Palaceguard, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3It will be like 2 hours more to get activated
Apple stores will handle about 30 customers at a time, Johnson said. While the company will make sure the activation process is quick, he said customers won't be rushed.
"We'll spend as long as it takes with our customers to make sure they're happy with the phone," Johnson said.
http://www.macrumors.com/iphone/2008/07/08/apple-e ... - chubbybubba, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3There will be plenty of Iphones to go around. 3g is not enough to get the early adopters to sign up for Another 2 years. Personally I think they'll drop the 3g phone even lower a couple of months later.
- locojones, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3The funniest quote in this entire article is telling propsective customers to bring a "Laptop with lots of spare batteries." Yet this is the same crowd flies off the handle and screams, "Who needs a user replaceable battery!" lol Oh the irony.
- kevinmotel, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3Trolling on digg seems to be your priority...
ps Happy Birthday on Friday. - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -1/+4I would buy a brick instead.
- MARCUSMARC, on 07/09/2008, -3/+5Yeah, I've done the reasearch, and yeah I've picked the plan, but no, I'm still not happy my bill looks like it will go up $20 a month.
- 13B1303, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2So explain why they have to be such a pain in the dick about the family plan... Why not just a standard family plan +$30 data for how ever many I phones are on the plan? My parents only have cell phones for emergencies, why do I need a 700 minute unlimited data as a minimum package?
- smoger, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2How to Score One This Friday: Walk into the apple store. Buy one.
digg it.
come on people.. remember how everyone freaked out about the first iphone launch? there was no shortage whatsoever, and there won't be this time either. - nathanmock, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2It's too bad you guys don't have any 3G network coverage.
- h3smith, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2Camping out
If you're deadset on purchasing the JesusPhone 3G under the warm glow of the divine, you might just have to camp it out. Here's Giz's list of essentials:
• Laptop with lots of spare batteries (a solar generator if you can hack it) and a 3G card
• Beef jerky and Cliff bars (compact, easy energy)
• Adult diaper
• A friend you can pay to wait in line for you
• Patience, deodorant (more for us, than for you)
are you kidding me, ***** in your pants so you can get a ***** phone?
i plan on getting one, but some people are mildly retarded - doctordbx, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2Nobody is making you buy it man.
- antdude, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2You have electronic store? :P
- Speed, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2I can't remember if I work a morning or afternoon shift on Friday (damn shift work), but I figure if I work morning, I'll go in around 2:30 (after work) and try to pick one up, if I work an afternoon, I'll go in at 9:30 (when the mall opens) and buy one. If, by some miracle, they're sold out, I'll wait a week and get it next Friday.
- Malacandra95, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2I already have a phone like that.
- bipolarruledout, on 07/09/2008, -1/+3Or you could save hours and get a blackberry.
- chrislee149, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Seems like a bad way of "scoring one this friday." :|
- rubbers0ul, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Trust us, we know.
/not living in Chicago or Minneapolis - cerealjynx, on 07/09/2008, -2/+3God dammit! This reminded me I want one! Someone remind me why I don't want one!!
- willgonz, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1I wish I could just sleep until Friday morning!!
- BossKey, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1I might get one, but since I don't care if I don't get it Friday, I'll go in some time later when it will only take a few minutes.
- enzomedici, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1No landscape mode for email, no cut & paste, no MMS, no video.
- doctordbx, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Will people really be queuing up for this? It's not like they're going to run out of stock, nor is anyone going to blow you when they spot you're using the 3G iPhone... if they care.
- megamod, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1hmmm...how about the fact that i can't get one on my own since I'm a grown man but am still under my dad's family plan (I know...it's sad). Like the article said he needs to be there to approve any changes to the plan.
- duckyinc, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Read "iPhone 3G Definitive Guide: How to wait a week" or just camp out on your local apple store today!
- thebrokenlight, on 07/09/2008, -1/+2Will you need to bring your old iPhone?
- jayskulls, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1This happened last time too. TONS of hype about getting up early, standing and line, selling out, etc. I got caught up in it, stood in line for hours only to feel like a moron as the Apple Stores and ATT stores had them in stock weeks after.
This isn't the Wii. Apple knows how to keep products in stock. - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1cretin.
- windohs, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Yup, then come the cries of hundreds of thousands of early adopter apple fanboys whining about how technology gets cheaper as time goes on.
- sea206town, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Hahaha Best Comment So Far!
- shodson, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Just go into the store on Saturday after all of the fan-boy campers are gone, walk out with a phone 10 minutes later, just like last year.
- tech9, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1cant people just wait the next day to get one instead of waiting in line the first day it comes out? oh well.
- x1soundgarden1x, on 07/09/2008, -4/+4OMG A PHONE!!!111! What's that you say??? It also requires a 2-year contract with one company known for terrible customer service holding a monopoly on the product and requiring a 2 year commitment at a minimum of 70 dollars a month before tax!???? AND I get to pay $200 on top of all that even if I'm an existing customer??? WOW, sweet deal! where do I sign up!?
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -1/+1totally
- thebrokenlight, on 07/09/2008, -1/+1No one is making you buy it, so quit bitching.
- jagnum1fan, on 07/09/2008, -1/+1So if you have a 1st gen do you still need the enterprise plan for exchange?
- x1soundgarden1x, on 07/09/2008, -1/+1I think you have bitching vs. making fun of a hyped and manufactured fad confusion my friend.
- brundlefly76, on 07/09/2008, -1/+1Another good 3g iphone buying guide:
