- Midnightbrewer, on 10/08/2008, -1/+2I'm slowly starting to discover the text emoji, but it requires knowing the appropriate phrase in Japanese to invoke it (unless I'm missing something). The emoji aren't going to save Apple's butt if they can't solve the battery issues. Japanese consumers aren't going to be willing to give up their 1.5-day-plus battery times for five *hours*.
I have a 1st-generation iPod Touch as well which has 24-hours-plus battery life, so I know the atrocious battery times aren't due to the big, shiny screen. Apple could improve their sales world wide if they would invest some time and money talking to the Japanese engineers and figure out what they're doing wrong. - spoonchucks, on 11/22/2008, -0/+1Steve: Because ***** YOU, that's why!
- timusca, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1Smilies would be nice for the rest of the world too... why would it be so difficult to put this in all iPhones? I mean, even if we wouldn't use it much, add it just for the sake of adding it... more features are better than none, even if they're just for the hell of it.

- Trat, on 11/22/2008, -0/+0And Japs don't sleep at during the night so they can charge their iPhone? Mine runs 2 days on a single charge. I email and surf a lot and listen to podcasts. I think I call like an hour a day. Battery is fine, just don't put your screen at maximum clearity: eats the most power. Same as with my past Nokia's.
