- streak, on 08/17/2008, -0/+3Push was pulled on cue from Cue?
- dusingaz, on 08/17/2008, -0/+3Wouldn't Apples plan for push mean that every IM or tweet, etc... that people want would go though Apple's servers? Sounds like they are just asking for a fail whale.
- anxcaptain, on 08/17/2008, -0/+3better pull it, we wouldnt want to see another mobile me fiasco...
wait, what do you mean mobile me isnt fixed? - jholmes8, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2I'm sure it was only pulled because it needed further development and they wanted to get some fixes out in the release that is nearing completion. This doesn't mean the push notification will not be out in September as promised.
- zephyrxero, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2Isn't this the new and improved Push that was gonna allow 3rd party apps to use it too? Oh well....forget the app store, back to Cydia
- LumpOfCole, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1I wouldn't mind if 2.1 focused on 100% stability and saved all the new features for 2.2.
- supermanred, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1...or Facebook... or Digg....etc
- Eddie74, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1WTF.... No Aim... Push
- godofpumpkins, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1No, it would only send you a notification when the app in question isn't open. The notification would then start up the app, which would then connect to the service itself, meaning you don't need to get any more notifications through Apple's servers until you close the app again. This is all just because they don't allow background apps, but it's not 100% inefficient :P
- Nikobert, on 08/18/2008, -0/+0Yeah, I wouldn't mind if they put more focus on Safaris stability...
- buughost, on 08/17/2008, -3/+2bad move IMO
this is a really neat function that could have been implemented much better.... can't say i've been too happy with Apple as of late
