- popflop, on 07/10/2008, -0/+133This is straight off of Apple's website, I'd say the risk is negligible.
- robbh66, on 07/10/2008, -1/+73I took the risk and it works.
AppStore is working too- at least it did for the remote. - ricodued, on 07/10/2008, -2/+52Any chance there's the iPod Touch version available yet?
- georgemandis, on 07/10/2008, -0/+39What risk? Make a backup.

- ricodued, on 07/10/2008, -1/+28Has anybody mentioned it might be the Shift key yet?

- kurtless, on 07/10/2008, -38/+63Why take a risk when the official 2.0 is just around the corner
- NYCEST124, on 07/10/2008, -16/+39I'll feel cooler than most for at least 1 day, before it goes mainstream...
- adamkmccarthy, on 07/10/2008, -0/+21This isn't for the iPod Touch. iPhone only. tried it for the laugh and it fails. makes sense since they wan't to charge $10 for it.
- JoeBenjamin, on 07/10/2008, -4/+25Man if only I could get away with installing iTunes at work... Damn you gainful employment!
- mikephimikephi, on 07/10/2008, -1/+21Try Shift, some people are saying that works
- d0nkeyBOB, on 07/10/2008, -1/+21I vote for the Shift key. All in favor?

I think my phone died. - Darkaged, on 07/10/2008, -3/+20Shift
- bertdevriese, on 07/10/2008, -1/+18does anyone know if unlocked 1.1.4 phones will work OK with the 2.0 firmware? or do i have to install and unlock it again or something?
- mrtrik, on 07/10/2008, -0/+15Shift. The Left one only.
- SouthsideIrish, on 07/10/2008, -1/+16Aye
- wedges, on 07/10/2008, -3/+17i'm gainfully employed, and i've got 2 23" cinema displays, big ass speakers, and i definately have iTunes installed. you just need a cooler job.
- nothin2g, on 07/10/2008, -3/+17Don't press the Shift key, it's a trap!

- metallikop, on 07/10/2008, -0/+13Not yet, everything I've read thus far says only the iPhone version has been released.
- mrowlinson, on 07/10/2008, -1/+14you need to update to version 7.7 of itunes. i was getting that error too until i upgraded
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -3/+15Works great and app store works too. Myspace app is insane.....yes i said it :(
- foltaggio, on 07/11/2008, -2/+13c-c-combo breaker
- br0ken1128, on 07/10/2008, -3/+14You must be joking .. you couldn't possibly have posted that and meant it, because that just makes you look like a moron..
Jail Break is over? .. what about those folks who don't use AT&T? they will need a jailbroken/unlocked 2.0 ..
What about apps that won't make it to the app store? such as SwirlyMMS which requires more than the official API provides? .. SwirlyMMS is just an example.. There are plenty of reasons to Jail Break the phone ..
And even if there were no need for it ... people would still want to do it anyway .. so it's never going to end unless Apple finds a way to permanently keep people out. - bmson, on 07/10/2008, -0/+10Aye
- harmil, on 07/10/2008, -2/+11Anyone figure out how to load this firmware from the Windows iTunes? Under MacOS, it seems you hold "Option" while pressing "Check for Update". Under Windows, there's no Option key, so I tried Alt and Ctrl to no avail... lots of combos, right-clicking, etc. Nothing.
- Me1000, on 07/10/2008, -2/+11The risk is non-existent if anything did somehow go wrong (that you cant fix) just wait till it is official then call apple and say your update ***** up.
- dpowre, on 07/10/2008, -1/+10*obligitory myspace sucks comment*
no but really its a good way to talk to your friends who refuse to make the switch to facebook - JasonCox, on 07/10/2008, -0/+9It helps when everyone in the office including your boss has iTunes installed ;-)
- goosegoose, on 07/10/2008, -0/+8works fine. finally aim on my iPhone. just be warned that it will take forever.. it's a restore to 2.0 . so you have to re sync your entire music again.
- MCA2142, on 07/10/2008, -1/+9I can't even begin to thank you.
Awesome. - CMiYC, on 07/10/2008, -0/+8Download the SDK and use the iPhone simulator.
- dinkola, on 07/10/2008, -0/+8If its just for development ... go to http://developer.apple.com/ and download the development enviroment. It comes with a virtual iPhone which you can deploy your applications to. You dont need an iPhone to create iPhone applications. Though I think the development enviroment (xcode & iphone sdk) is free, you need a Mac to run it.
- jcannonb, on 07/10/2008, -4/+12Who uses Windows?
- Andrew_06m, on 07/10/2008, -1/+9Firmware 2.0 is amazing. Just installed. Gas Price Search with regard to location App is excellent. Evernote App is pretty sweet too.
