- TruckStuff, on 10/10/2007, -2/+60Ah, the ever reliable "anonymous email source." My last anonymous email source told me he had $15m in a Kenyan bank account he needed help moving. Is there any more reliable source?
- pipetawer, on 10/10/2007, -7/+40This is a big scam, don't even think about sending money to this monkeys
- iashraf, on 10/10/2007, -1/+26Apple?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+21How can it be a scam when almost everyone has verified that this works?
- theTVaddict, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Wouldn't it be hilarious if T-Mobile purchased the company. Think about it: iPhone comes to T-Mobile.... brilliant. (T-Mobile, feel free to thank me anytime!)
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+15wow wifi itunes store. how very useful. how about mms or searchable contacts or ability to send a sms to multiple recipients?
- plasticated, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Every fibre of my being wants this to be software to be legit, but I gotta say - emails like the one in that article make it look very suspect.
- Dradu, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9You sir, are a visionary.
- Canute, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8"everyone" is CNN, Engadget and Gizmodo ...
- sambam, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8How can they sell so soon?
- KLowD9x, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Thats an odd looking smiley face.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6A whole lot of good that will do since unlocking your phone is not illegal at all.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5It is notable that this email came about when iphonesimfree sent an invoice out to a group for payment (by wire transfer to San Marino) and that group transferred the money. This email then came back, saying the group should send the money again, to a different account, because "they've been acquired".
It's really starting to look like a scam. - joel8x, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8It is such a joke that anyone is reporting on this. Every site that has reported on this should feel responsible for helping these scammers. I got my eye on you engadget.
- blackbrutha, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3this is bullsh*t. F*ck these guys and their software that doesnt exist.
- djh816, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5ok your comments getting old now. just shutup already.
- nukepuppy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3They were probably ***** all along
- Sithlrd, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7Apple has nothing to gain by buying and terminating this company. An open iPhone will only increase sales. The Great and Powerful Jobs swallowed AT&T's load, locked the iPhone, and in the process totally missed an opportunity to change the world in a way it hasn't seen since the first Mac.
AT&T on the other hand is overflowing with money, and has everything to gain by keeping the phone locked. If this isn't fake, I'd bet my left nut AT&T are the buyers. - axelbrush, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I bought 200 licenses and I received the same email! When will I get my damn unlock licenses? I am sick of these guys playing with our money.
- streak, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Because they are frauds.
- iashraf, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3They didn't make the "product" for the fans, for helping out people who want their ***** unlocked. They made it to make money from the iPhone customers. iPhoneSimFree is a business, they want to make money. Don't blame them, blame yourself for not realizing.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Can I get in on that $15M action?
- tech42er, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Unlocking phones is perfectly legit.
- UndeadOverlord, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6simply these guys are either
1. Scammers
2. Sellouts to Apple - Markpdotcom, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Its ***** and balls!
(sorry, just wanted to write "***** and balls" on digg!) - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Nou boughted?
- zdiggler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2don't worry soon as one copy of the software deployed to paying customer you will just be able to BT it.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You forget that Apple gets a share of AT&T revenues.
- pengas, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Bullcrap... Lets wait till monday and see whats what.
- tidal, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I knew this was going to happen... Why else did they keep reconfirming the unlocking by engadget, cnn, etc... They wanted a buyer!
- iphoneworldwide, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3http://www.iphoneworldwideunlock.com
We have not heard about this from IPSF - Jeffler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Not as an accessory to profit, like he said (aka T-Mobile unlocking a ***** and selling them)
- sadler121, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1But AT&T is not subsidizing the iPhone.
- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1No, it's bied!
- jamiemcconnell, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1My bet is Apple!
- code_of_life, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1this post is undisclosed
- jun2san, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3Another example of how greed can delay or cease the release of a great product.
- SSUK, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Maybe Apple wanted them gone? Well, if this isn't a scam, it'd be a likely option. MS has been buying off companies, and probably owns a large part of Apple through proxy companies for ages. So...
- Lawrencediggs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Google?
- sambam, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0DUGG! http://digg.com/tech_news/Yahoo_Launches_HotJobs_Facebook_App_What_About_Kickstart
But what the f*ck does this have to do with Apple? - axelbrush, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Same site has this- yahoo launches facebook app called hotjobs http://www.techomical.com/my_weblog/2007/09/yahoo-launches-.html
- MrSquishyPants, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Unless of course there's a subsidy on the phone. If ATT is funding part of the cost of the IPhone, it also wants to recoup it's investment by having people on it's network. This is what makes the cost the IPhone "reasonable" (and even more reasonable after the latest rebate). Without the subsidy it would have the same cost as, say, an advanced PDA, which was easily 700$.
- Optimaximal, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2It's a spade!
- K3ITHK, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3Too bad you can't legally unlock phones for your own economic gain.
- Quadcore, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2HOAX!
- HUKI365, on 10/10/2007, -5/+4Reads exactly like every single spam/scam email on eBay.
- nggalai, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Buried for yet another “news item” stemming from an anonymous e-mail source …
- MajorPain, on 10/10/2007, -6/+5They look like total scammers to me. Too much beating around the bush.
- mobilehavoc, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1If someone really did buy out iphonesimfree.com it could turn into a very bad business move...all it takes Apple is to block this software unlock in their next update and they just lost on their "investment". I guess they're hoping to make a ton of money as fast as they can while this works and for that reason I don't get all the delays!!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3Definitely Apple or At&T.
