iJailbreak updated; Jailbreaks 1.1.3 iPhones & iPod Touches
ijailbreak.com — Announcing the immediate availability of iJailBreak 0.4 for iPod Touch and iPhone, which supports the new 1.1.3 firmware.
- 1094 diggs
- digg it
- Kdurrty, on 01/27/2008, -2/+8Works perfectly. Thnx!
- andr3y, on 01/27/2008, -0/+6Note: you need to be running a jailbroken 1.1.1 or 1.1.2.
- skeeterou, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1will this brick my t-mobile phone or does it leave the sim unlock intact? running 1.1.2 jailbroken and unlocked.
- arjung, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2just confirmation if you're concerned, it worked for me too. i was on jailbroken 1.1.1 and now i have jailbroken 1.1.3 with installer and mail, etc. all my imap settings transferred too.
- Neoanarchist, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2Was all your data still available after the upgrade/jailbreak? I was thinking of jailbreaking my sister's iPhone but she doesn't want to lose all her data (SMS's, contacts, photos, music, apps, settings etc.).
Thanks in advance for any feedback.- br0ken1128, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1Everything stays.. I lost everything just because I had to go from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1 before I could go to 1.1.3 which wipes everything; however! .. if you sync your phone before you do anything.. you can always restore that backup to any firmware version - this restores contacts, wallpaper and settings.. not photos (taken with the iPhone camera) and certianly not apps .. but it restores critical things
- arjung, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1i have an ipod touch, but yea everything stays. contacts, photos, music are synced anyway, but yea, notes and mail stay. my wifi settings got erased, but you prob dont care about the settings anyway.
- DavX, on 01/28/2008, -1/+2You talk like a moron, but yea, this is digg.
- theliamburns1, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1Installed perfectly.
But now customize, summerboard, and many other programs dont work. Wallpaper doesn't work.
Google's new "locate me" feature doesn't work.
This is so buggy, it's really not even worth it.
- andr3y, on 01/27/2008, -0/+6Note: you need to be running a jailbroken 1.1.1 or 1.1.2.
- KeatonTech, on 01/27/2008, -2/+17Awesome! Everybody involved in this is insanely smart :)
- ThinkBox, on 01/27/2008, -1/+3Im on 1.0.2, anyone know if I can go straight to 1.1.3 with this?
- DarkDx, on 01/27/2008, -2/+10I would recomend: 1. virginize 2. upgrade to 1.1.1 3. jailbreak with jailbreakme.com 4. Do this.
- ThinkBox, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2not to be a bother, but back in the day i tried upgrading to 1.1.1 it didnt work, but that was in the early days of 1.1.1, so it may be easier now, any suggestions which is the best way to 1.1.1 my iPhone?
- HesNikke, on 01/27/2008, -0/+4install 1.1.1, open safari, goto jailbreakme.com
- br0ken1128, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1the virginize step is important .. I think my phone was in some bizzare state.. I had attempted a 1.1.2 update before and that updated the baseband.. my phone was messed up at that point and I managed to downgrade back to 1.1.1 but it no longer recognized my sim card despite the fact I had used IPSF .. I managed to go back to 1.0.2 which worked some how but my phone was flaky from then on .. when 1.1.3 jailbreak came out I ran the baseband downgrader and my phone is now working stable again.. I went from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1 which suddenly worked again, then from 1.1.1 to 1.1.3 which worked like a champ (after the third try)..
- DarkDx, on 01/27/2008, -2/+10I would recomend: 1. virginize 2. upgrade to 1.1.1 3. jailbreak with jailbreakme.com 4. Do this.
- DarkDx, on 01/27/2008, -2/+7Getting my iphone next week. Dugg.
- Qumahlin, on 01/27/2008, -1/+6This wont work for you unless you get an older iphone. Still no current way to jailbreak a 1.1.3 OTB phone. as noted "JailBreak requires you to be on a jailbroken 1.1.2 or jailbroken 1.1.1"
- DarkDx, on 01/27/2008, -0/+3Actually the phone was bought 2 weeks ago but the guy who went to usa (not me) hasn't returned yet.
- overkilpro, on 01/27/2008, -0/+4luckily downgrading is extremely easy
- championchap, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2Yeah, but even then you still cant do it.
I had the apps but not the service. It was just an iPod Touch with Speakers at that point.- DarkDx, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2iPod touch with speakers ftw
- FluffyArmada, on 01/28/2008, -0/+1Then you're doing it wrong. You can downgrade a 1.1.3 to 1.1.1 and then do the jailbreak. The problem you run into running 1.1.2 or 1.1.1 is that the 1.1.3 upgrade updates the firmware on the GSM modem, which 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 cannot work properly with. But if you jailbreak to 1.1.3 and replace your lockdownd file, then you're phone will work fine.
This is why running 1.1.2 on a phone that has been updated to 1.1.3 will give you SIM error, because the- FluffyArmada, on 01/28/2008, -0/+1sorry, digg comment system freaked out because I used a less than sign...
( older than ) 1.1.3 software cannot work properly with the updated firmware on the GSM modem. Which is also why, if you notice, you can update to 1.1.3 and you won't see the sim error, but the phone part still doesn't work. I'm not sure what the technical reason for it is, but I know that replacing the lockdownd file with on like... oh, I dunno, http://rs323.rapidshare.com/files/86377952/lockdow ... ...
Anyhow, here's what you do.
[This is how I did it, it works, if there's a better way, then use it.]
Downgrade to 1.1.1. [I'm assuming you know how to do that much.]
If you have 4.6 bootloader and new modem firmware, you will get a SIM error.
[ITS OK!]
Slide the unlock slide thingy.. ambiguous? maybe.
Dial, *#307#, you will get a call, stay at that screen, backspace over the *#307#, and type 0, and call that. You will get another call. Hit accept. Put it on hold, dial 0 again. This time hit the button to ignore it. Now you should be dropped into the manual dial part of the phone, and you'll have contacts and crap at the bottom of your screen. Open contacts. Create a new contact called A (or some other name, it doesn't really matter). Then edit that contact and add these two strings to his URLs.
prefs:
and
http://jailbreakme.com
Then hit save. Now you can click on the urls and safari will take you there.
[YOU MUST BE ON WIFI]
Anyhow, hit prefs: first. This will take you the the iPhone preferences screen.
Do two things here, set up wifi, and go into General and disable autolock.[important!]
Then hit home, do the 0, answer, hold, 0, ignore, thing again to get to your contacts.
This time, his the jailbreakme link. This will open the site that uses the .tiff exploit to jailbreak 1.1.1. Scroll down to the bottom and hit App Tap Installer (or whatever it's called). Safari will crash, and you will be dropped to the emergency call screen again. Let it sit for a little bit, it should crash, and you will be booted into jailbroken 1.1.1.
[if it doesn't crash, reboot you're phone and try again, I promise it works, I've had to reboot 3 times once before it worked).
Congratulations, you are not in 1.1.1 jailbroken.
But wait?! No phone?! SIM error?! Remember what I said earlier. There's two things you can do at this point. If you bought your iPhone before week 45, then you should have 3.8 bootloader, and you can downgrade your baseline. I have no idea how to do that, but here's a better idea anyways... just upgrade to 1.1.3 and jailbreak.
[If you bought after 45 [I'm pretty sure that's the number], then you can downgrade, but you have to open up your phone and do a bunch of silly ***** with testpoints. [NOT WORTH IT!]
Anyhow, now you're running 1.1.1. So, open up the Installer.app, and update everything. Now there's two routes you can go. You can use the devteam approved installer, or you can use nate's installer for the 1.1.3 jailbreak. I haven't used the devteams installer, and I don't feel figuring out how it works until that SDK comes out and I actually have a need for it.
So... download Nate's installer. http://devices.natetrue.com/iphone/ibrickr-jb113.z ...
[Sorry, I'm assuming you're on windows, anyhow, I can't get iTunes to downgrade properly on Mac OS X, that's why I had to do it on a Windows box.]
Anyhow, download that. Follow it's directions. Once it's done, [it will take a long time and your phone will seem unresponsive.] install BSD subsystem, and install Term-vt100.
Now, use iBrickr, or some other crap, and send that lockdownd file mentioned earlier to the root directory of your phone. Now open your terminal, and
cd /usr/libexec
mv lockdownd lockdownd.backup
cp /lockdownd .
chmod 777 lockdownd
[555 is supposed to work to, but I'm just being safe... if you don't do that chmod command, you're phone will hang while starting up, because iBrickr puts the file on with some other file permissions, and the system needs to be able to access it properly.]
Restart your iPhone. If it boots, give it a few minutes, and it should get on AT&T's network.
Have fun. If you have any questions, my AIM is fluffyarmada. - FluffyArmada, on 01/28/2008, -0/+1Yes, that link for ibrickr is broken, add ip to the end of it. [it's a zip file]
- FluffyArmada, on 01/28/2008, -0/+1sorry, digg comment system freaked out because I used a less than sign...
- championchap, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2Yeah, but even then you still cant do it.
- p_o_b, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1Maybe for some, but mine was jailbroken on 1.1.2 and I tried to do the upgrade to 1.1.3 and no go, the software never saw the phone. I tried taking it down to 1.1.1 (which I had already done previously to jailbreak the phone as it came with 1.1.2) and it would not restore. Ultimately I was forced to restore to 1.1.3 and lost all my apps. Wiggling icons are cool but I miss my apps.
Upgrade at your own risk.
- br0ken1128, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1You'd think with a 1.1.3 out of the box that you could downgrade to 1.0.2 and then downgrade the baseband, use iphonesimfree to unlock .. then step back up to 1.1.3 using the older modem firmware like the rest of us.. this doesn't work?
- Qumahlin, on 01/27/2008, -1/+6This wont work for you unless you get an older iphone. Still no current way to jailbreak a 1.1.3 OTB phone. as noted "JailBreak requires you to be on a jailbroken 1.1.2 or jailbroken 1.1.1"
- definetheline, on 01/27/2008, -0/+11You have to downgrade to the 1.1.2 firmware first.
- overkilpro, on 01/27/2008, -0/+3worked great and if anyone wants to know, it won't erase your music, videos, and photos
- Four20, on 01/27/2008, -1/+17This is not the official jailbreak. this is natetrue's JB. . .repacked
- AriX, on 01/27/2008, -2/+3It has some extra features however.
- KeatonTech, on 01/27/2008, -1/+4And it works fine so who really cares?
- starkruzr, on 01/27/2008, -0/+3Which is good, because we don't want the official one until after the SDK is released. It's important to have both jailbreak and official-SDK applications available.
- Lounger540, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1Hate to burst your bubble, but too late. There is an official JB already. It looks to do about the same thing any way.
- br0ken1128, on 01/27/2008, -0/+3And nate true's is a leak of the dev team's JB which was pre-maturely leaked before it was finished and tested.. if we're giving the full history of the jail break .. however, it worked for me so I don't care where it came from... the beef the dev team has with nate's release is that he released early and was accepting donations.. pretty dishonesty.. they booted him from the dev team apparently after this.
- Powerdrift, on 01/27/2008, -0/+33Man, he really likes to make sure everyone knows he's 13. Great work nonetheless.
- runCMD, on 01/27/2008, -7/+3He's amazing at 13.
- burak1, on 01/27/2008, -0/+3If he wants respect then he should shut up about his age. If he wants to be thought of as a precocious freak then he should just carry on telling us how old he is.
But agreed, great work.
- blurrie, on 01/27/2008, -0/+3this is a dumb question.. but can i restore it back easily w/ itunes.. w/o it being bricked?
- AriX, on 01/27/2008, -0/+3Yep :) A tutorial on how to do that is on the front page (the 113 downgrade link)
- Michas, on 01/27/2008, -22/+3Digg me down.
- neiltc13, on 01/27/2008, -17/+20Buried as inaccurate. This doesn't jailbreak 1.1.3 iPhones - it needs a 1.1.2 iPhone.
- AriX, on 01/27/2008, -3/+10Yeah, but once it's done you have a jailbroken 1.1.3 phone...
- TofuMatt, on 01/27/2008, -1/+8Yes, but for folks who already have 1.1.3, it's kind of a pain, as well as a misleading title.
- mrbutter, on 01/27/2008, -4/+1not really lol.
- starkruzr, on 01/27/2008, -2/+1Buried as idiocy, all you have to do is downgrade and re-upgrade.
- SpacedCowboy, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1Downgrading doesn't work on my 1.1.3 phone...
- starkruzr, on 01/28/2008, -0/+1What do you mean by "doesn't work?" You are probably doing it wrong. Pay VERY close attention to how the timing of putting the phone into DFU mode works.
- SpacedCowboy, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1Downgrading doesn't work on my 1.1.3 phone...
- AriX, on 01/27/2008, -3/+10Yeah, but once it's done you have a jailbroken 1.1.3 phone...
- andr3y, on 01/27/2008, -4/+11NOTE: NO MODIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN TO YOUR DEVICE HAVE BEEN MADE!
- luchid, on 01/27/2008, -17/+3Nice. All caps and not even a distinguishable sentence structure. NO EDUCATION TO YOUR PERSON HAVE BEEN TO YOUR PERSON HAVE BEEN MADE.
- Wandel, on 01/27/2008, -0/+13If you look closely, you'll see that he actually took that from the site.
- luchid, on 01/27/2008, -17/+3Nice. All caps and not even a distinguishable sentence structure. NO EDUCATION TO YOUR PERSON HAVE BEEN TO YOUR PERSON HAVE BEEN MADE.
- PathDaemon, on 01/27/2008, -2/+8"includes support for Mac OS X Tiger"
God, I hope so, considering it was released in 2005...
I'm not all that compelled to think this a more reliable installer than the official ones, and as mentioned above it uses NateTrue's jailbreak (ya know, the one that got him kicked off the Dev Team for being illegal and *****?).
I advise against, and am personally waiting for a full update solution with anySIM instead of this soft upgrade shiznit.- djdavey, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2This one works. Period. Fast and simple. If, of course, you are working from an already iJailbread'd system.
- Skitals, on 01/27/2008, -3/+5The dev team just released an "official", "proper" jailbreak. And it's even easier. If you are running 1.1.2, just install via Installer and your phone is upgraded and jailbroken: http://www.modiphone.net/guide-official-113-jailbr ...
- omniatlas, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1doesn't work, get a 'main script' execution error..help?
- aaryn, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1I get the same thing running jailbroken 1.1.2 touch
- TehChix0r, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1I believe that's caused by not updating Installer before trying. Not sure what the best solution is, though (I've only seen downgrading back to jailbroken 1.1.2, then trying it again).
- digitallysick, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1Im going to backup my phone and try it tonight
- slime73, on 01/27/2008, -1/+2Until I see an updater from the official AppTapp source, it's not going to be "official" or "proper" to me.
- Bstodian, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2It doesn't work with a jailbroken 1.1.1, and they're having troubles anyway....
- omniatlas, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1doesn't work, get a 'main script' execution error..help?
- mike3k, on 01/27/2008, -10/+4Why not just wait for the SDK which is coming very soon and will give the same capability?
- ignign0kt, on 01/27/2008, -2/+13You're crazy if you think Apple will allow people to download and create apps for free.
- flickr, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2Also, those of us wanting to be on the forefront when the SDK is released need somewhere to test our code.
- TechCF, on 01/27/2008, -1/+3SDK lets people create apps, but not run them unless signed by Apple which I guess cost money
- starkruzr, on 01/27/2008, -1/+3Because it *won't* give the same capability.
- nightmare1228, on 01/27/2008, -1/+1Does this work on windows? Downloaded the folder but find no installer at all?
- benfeldman, on 01/27/2008, -0/+5Unfortunately no- this is a Mac OS X-only utility.
- bradkovach, on 01/27/2008, -0/+3No, this is a Mac only application. Don't worry, though. Google it up, and you'll find one.
- nightmare1228, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1Find the same application in windows format, or a different application that does the same thing but for windows?
- Bstodian, on 01/27/2008, -0/+0I don't think it does... I'm hoping for it, though.
- joe28753, on 01/28/2008, -0/+1use ibrickr. an explanation can be found on this forum thread: http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=25004
- MacPhill, on 01/27/2008, -1/+3Man, I can't believe I bought the frick'in upgrade for my iPod yesterday. Sucker.
- PPCG4, on 01/27/2008, -0/+4I little bird told me that if you contact iTunes Store customer support and tell them that it didn't work/messed up your iPod and has done so multiple times, they will issue a refund without question.

- PPCG4, on 01/27/2008, -0/+4I little bird told me that if you contact iTunes Store customer support and tell them that it didn't work/messed up your iPod and has done so multiple times, they will issue a refund without question.
- PPCG4, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1Works perfectly, but note that any DRM'd iTunes Store purchases won't work unless you are upgrading from 1.1.2. I've upgraded from 1.1.1 and none of my purchases work
- djdavey, on 01/27/2008, -13/+1But is it illegal? Vooice your opinion here.
http://www.floort.com/?fid=117&t=Jailbreak+is+brea ... - DannySpace, on 01/27/2008, -3/+2I just bought an Ipod Touch 16g yesterday, and it came with the 1.1.3 already installed. Will this still work for me? Do I have to downgrade? Can anyone help a girl out?
- avihappy, on 01/27/2008, -0/+3Downgrade to 1.1.1, then upgrade.

- avihappy, on 01/27/2008, -0/+3Downgrade to 1.1.1, then upgrade.
- skilskilskil, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2Does anyone know how this affects the $20 upgrade I bought for the Touch that includes the 5 apps?
- Zawamura, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2Testing it now on a jail-broken 1.1.1 16GB ipod touch. Download is taking forever though.
- LayZAss2I, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1yeah same here...must be everyone trying to get it all at once. they need this on a good dedicated server.
- ruddyss4, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1Would anyone know if youtube will work properly after the jailbreak, also, will google maps be fully functional? I've read several cases in which google maps wasn't working with it's locate feature for many users, this is with nate true's jailbreak method.
- arcterex, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1Can you be running any jailbroken 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 or does it have to have been jailbroken from the ijailbreak software? I have an ipod touch jailbroken with some windows software that I'd like to run this on my mac with, will it work, or does it need something specific from ijailbreak?
- sambapati87, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2Doesn't work. 1.1.1 iPod touch. Crashes on "patching Firmware"
- ehsteve23, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1worked perfectly for me on jailbroken 1.1.1 ipod touch, now to get rid of that dock....
- digitallysick, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2I am very confused about the update, i read that that update works but wont make changes to the baseband so the "locate:" on google maps will not work, without following about 30 steps , if i have 1.1.2 jailbroken how can i upgrade to 1.1.3 and have all features working easily??
- Zawamura, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2Don't think you can yet. I don't really know, so don't blame me if I'm wrong.
- dustation, on 01/27/2008, -1/+1HELP! I've tried it twice now (and its downloaded that 200mb OS both times). It gets as far as Patching iPod Touch OS and I receive the following error: ''./script.sh: line 3: 1600 Bus error ./ dmg2img NewOS.dmg 113_upgrade_image.img 113_upgrade_image.img:No such file or directory (1)''
Its a 16GB iPod Touch running 1.1.1
What should I do?- benfeldman, on 01/27/2008, -1/+2Are you using a PowerPC? iJailBreak 0.4.x is only for Intel architectures at the moment unfortunately.
- dustation, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1Macbook Intel Core Duo 2GHZ
- skeeterou, on 01/27/2008, -1/+1Got the same error. Redownloaded jailbreak and trying again. I will let you know...
- skeeterou, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1ok, contacted the author. he said he's releasing an update tonight that will fix this problem.
- benfeldman, on 01/27/2008, -1/+2Are you using a PowerPC? iJailBreak 0.4.x is only for Intel architectures at the moment unfortunately.
- nnny, on 01/27/2008, -2/+3No PowerPc Support! Leopard support? wtf
- Zawamura, on 01/27/2008, -0/+3They are working on a PPC.version I think.
- Zawamura, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1I don't get the 1.1.3 soft update under system in the installer. Maybe I should reset it to 1.1.1 and jailbreak it from the start, so I get a clean system.
- skeeterou, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2will i still be able to use this on t-mobile if I upgrade? i am running 1.1.2 jailbroken from a 1.0.2 OTB phone. Right now I don't have installer but would like it. I guess what I'm asking is will anysim/independence unlock the 1.1.3 jailbreak?
- mauriz, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2Works great: from 1.1.1 jailbroken+unlocked to 1.1.3 jailbroken and still unlocked!
- IsmailOo, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1Hey, thats really cool. Is there any thing I can do with my iPod Video Classic, the new ones, they have a different firmware then the old iPod Vides, RockBox doesnt work on them... any suggestions? anyway, thats really cool!
- LaSepultura, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1So currently there is no Jailbreak for the new 1.1.2 phones with the new bootloader?
- lovekudu, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1iNdependence can do OTB 1.1.2 phones. it's also damn easier than any other tool.
- sevenalive, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1For one thing this is not the offical jailbreak, the offical team released there real 1.1.3 already. Also why does every jailbreak hit the front page. Modding phones has been around for a long time, mostly modding motorola phones. Google search Motorola phone modding or mod my moto.
- SuperSunny, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2Because it's new technology. Also, Digg has an Apple section. Motorola Phone Modding isn't going to be as appealing as modding an iPod Touch or iPhone.
- rikkdbomb, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2I don't know what to do! please help me! I download the file.. and what? I have the zip file.. I unzip it. I just don't know where to go from here. I know I must seem like a blithering idiot, but please help me! Some kind of step by step instruction would help..

- fruitbomb, on 01/28/2008, -0/+1You gotta wait for a 1.1.3 update for summerboard to come out before you can do this
- theliamburns1, on 01/27/2008, -3/+1Wow!! Honestly this is soooo buggy its not even worth it. DONT DO IT! Summerboard, customize, google locate me, none of these things will work correctly. im just pissed off now :(
- Zawamura, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2Customize and summerboard dont have versiones for 1.1.3 yet, just wait a while and they will come.
- theliamburns1, on 01/27/2008, -1/+1well i actually got them to run on 1.1.3 by going to system>library>core systems> then open systemversion.plist in textedit and change 1.1.3 to 1.1.2.
But wallpaper still wont work. This is like the one thing that is really bothering me. lol - i like my iphone customizedddd

- Zawamura, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1I got it to work now! I love the wiggly icons!
- DevinOlsen, on 01/27/2008, -1/+2Ok, I really hope that I don't get dugg down for this... I would appreciate some help.
I had 1.1.3 on my iPod touch, then I downgraded to 1.1.1 and I jailbroke my iPod touch. Now I don't get what I'm supposed to do... I visit the website ijailbreak.com; and download ijailbreak.app.. But it's just a folder, and I have no idea what to do from there.
Any help would be appreciated.- Zawamura, on 01/27/2008, -0/+2http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=42195 ...
I used that guide and it worked perfectly. And it is also compatible with windows. Remeber to install bsd-package and OpenSSH rom the installer so you can connect to your touch from your computer.
Send me a PM if you need more help.- DevinOlsen, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1Thank you very much. I really appreciate it.

- hugznotthugzkid, on 01/28/2008, -0/+1Does this affect the $20 apps?
- fruitbomb, on 01/28/2008, -0/+2Yes it removes them all, but that's really not a problem since you can use the installer app to get them all for free
- kkiran, on 01/28/2008, -0/+1yeah, it is a repackaged version, true... I tried Nate's method and I loved the lil' complications involved. Documented the steps and observations @ http://windows-mobiles.com/?p=143 Interestingly Google Maps location worked great as soon as the upgrade is done and it ceased working later on when the SIM is present. Locate Me is good enough anyways :)
- jordan6891, on 01/28/2008, -0/+1When jailbreaking the ipod touch do you get the jiggle icons when you update?
- Zawamura, on 01/28/2008, -0/+1Yes.
- lolinyerface, on 01/28/2008, -1/+1*cheer*
- DPimp1262, on 01/30/2008, -0/+1I really don't understand what is happening to the iphones of the people that keep complaining. Did you guys update from 1.1.1? Because the jailbreak requires 1.1.2. For me and my 1.1.2 iphone everything works great except for google locator (everything else about google maps works like a charm as always) to which I'm not surprised. I'm guessing the phone uses the known locations of AT&T towers and since I'm on T-mobile I didn't have very high hopes that it would work anyway. Locate me still works as does the nullriver version so in the end I'm getting the same thing. I don't get the cool circular 'this is the general area where you could be located' thing but meh don't really need it. I am very grateful to the Dev team. To the people that think that the dev team is somehow skimping out? Shame on all of you. These people work incredibly hard FOR FREE so we can do what we want with the phones we spent our money on. They even just made a cool new program in installer that automates the entire process. Very painless and a job well done as always.
- samste, on 02/05/2008, -0/+1Hey,
I had a jailbroken iPod touch. (It was the fist version to be released, i ddint update ever). I tried to update to 1.13 though iTunes but it returned an error.
Now my ipod is recovery mode and restoring via iTunes returns an error whilst prepping the iPod for restore.
Can anyone help?
