- xXRx7Xx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The article said, "...Jobs personally designed the 32-foot-by-32-foot box..." I wonder how long it took him to draw 12 lines. =) j/k
btw did anyone notice from the pictures that simx linked that theres a guy throwing up in the bottom left corner? - simX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Here's a rendering of the glass cube and how it will look: http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=1347
- grayapple, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm a mac dude... but... how hard is it to design a ***** cube!?
- jruckman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1all this really means is that he'll be able to do with it as he sees fit after their initial lease is up -- by then, it will have become somewhat of a landmark, and removing it would detract from the value of the property. if they decide to relocate or update their branding in the future, they now will have the ability to do so without this issue to deal with.
- blindog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hork!
Anyone else think this just makes Steve look like an even bigger ass. WTF?! - catullus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1alright. why would you want to piss off Steve-O?

- rusty_g, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pictures anyone???
- ronmexico, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That will be quite a raise from his $1 a year salary.
- darkvad0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"btw did anyone notice from the pictures that simx linked that theres a guy throwing up in the bottom left corner?"
I think he isn't throwing up, he's rather looking down - DogHumpsMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"btw did anyone notice from the pictures that simx linked that theres a guy throwing up in the bottom left corner?"
Ha! That's awesome. Thanks for pointing it out and giving me a chuckle during this long-ass double shift. :D - lordTalus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A nine million dollar glass cube...I'm pretty sure I could build a cube for much less.
- darb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0In 20 Years!? Wow. I'm sure by then he wont want it, he'll have had to create something better by then.
- ndm007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Im just wondering what Lord J will do with a 32 foot glass cube :-|
- blindog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ha ha ha... ah this is good stuff....
- medorra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I rather think that instead of selling the cube to the new occupant, Apple will be sure to remove it. They most certainly wouldn't want to see their brand diluted by some enterprising restauranteur slapping a tacky phrase about chicken wings in neon lights across the cube. The agreement serves to protect the landmark's association with Apple as a brand. No chance of any other company mucking up the association.
- Play, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0*insert G4 cube joke here*
- fore1337, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the article doesn't even supply a photo. lame.
- buckaroo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You just know that Sony will pay to have some graffiti artist tag it the day before "moving day".
- TheSquirrelKing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"btw did anyone notice from the pictures that simx linked that theres a guy throwing up in the bottom left corner?"
I'm pretty sure he's reading the headlines of the newspapers in the boxes... - mixpix405, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ fore1337
do you still throw books on the ground when you notice its not a picture book or a pop-up book? - BigMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can just image the conversation 20 years from now ...
"You have 30 minutes to move your cube. Hello, Mr. Jobs' office."
"Is it about my cube?" - 0gre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"all this really means is that he'll be able to do with it as he sees fit after their initial lease is up -- by then, it will have become somewhat of a landmark, and removing it would detract from the value of the property."
If the Apple Cube really becomes a landmark then this could pan into a profitable deal for Jobs. When the lease expires they will be able to SELL the cube to the new occupant at a nice profit. - Gatesophile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I bet you Steve-O's gaming system of choice is the GameCube.
Yes, I know I am lame. - bash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ra3ndy: dont forget his precious NeXT cubes. didnt they spend an extra month or two making sure that the machines were at perfectly 90 degree angles?
- ra3ndy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0God, Steve Jobs and his cubes. First the Next, then the G4 Cube, now this. I'm sure he'd make a cube-shaped iPod if he could find a way to sell it.
perhaps cube shaped ear-buds? - brian2k1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0$1,000 per sq foot x 24,000 sq ft = $24 million so my question. Does anyone know if that is 24m over the 20 year lease? If so that is still $100k per month which seems like a lot to me but not too bad for a huge building like that.
- rookworm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I wonder what it is with Jobs and cubes.... Maybe he's trying to prove he's more than just a square. :P
- PhantomBantam, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0besides you want to die?
- catullus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0why would you hope that wacky?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I guess he will need somthing to pawn for rent money after Apple goes under.
- WackyT, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0It'd definitely piss off Jobs, I bet.
- WackyT, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Hopefully someone takes a sledgehammer to it.
