- Universal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15AppleBerry pie anyone?
- pornel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Apple's usability, Blackberry's features and no WinCE involved? I'd love that.
- smorzander, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Awww... and I thought it was a new fruit I could enjoy.
- NSResponder, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Some random guy who has never worked in the computer industry at all comes up with a suggestion and it's news? Why is this any more significant than some high school kid or cab driver's idea that he really, really wants to tell Steve Jobs?
-jcr - ojk007, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5sounds good
- marvmiller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Honestly, I have always wanted Apple to come out with a handheld device that does push e-mails, video, organizational software and beyond (music) because frankly, Palm does not cut it for me but it has features I want. Windows CE sucks. Blackberry has the best form factor of all handhelds. It's software is too simple, no SD expansion and no WiFi as a backup connectivity. If they both can work together on a killer PDA device on a new OS then I'd be very, very happy.
- linkerjpatrick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I really want Apple to bring out an updated Newton. I want something with the best handwriting recognition out there. The Newton had this for it's time. In fact OSX had handwriting recognition built in for some reason. Often when I go out and visit clients I don't need a smart phone nor do I need the overkill of a Notebook computer. I need a very user friendly note taking device that will sync with my computer. I'd love to see an iPod/Newton hybrid about the height and width of a small paperback book but thicker than a Nano but slimer than a phone.
- ScrabbyDoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4that's what i thought at first, but the Apple that wants to do everything themselves and in their own way is slowly disappearing. they're ore willing to partner these days.
They partnered with motorola for the Rockr, a mistake, but the partnership with Intel has worked wonders. It was Intel's engineers that built the mactel's motherboard and with Intel firmware too.
I don't think berry is a good partner, like motorola, but its not totally out of the question. - Dethcide, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6no chance.
- TheRepublic, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5let's hope it happens.

Neal Saferstein - MrViklund, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Time for the fruits to come together! ;)
- safer9999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I doubt it will happen
Neal Saferstein - macross9321, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2RIM wants a firm foothold in the consumer!!! that's funny cause as long as I've used Know RIM I could not say that. They could have added simple mp3 support to there handheld years ago and been making inroads in the consumer market
- safer9999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nice
Neal Saferstein - dscx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1...But will it run Linux?
Seriously though I think Palm/Treo is the shiznit, and with OS6 it might actually end up with Linux on it anyway (open source mobile software anyone :D) - Suck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Apple might release a product! It might be good! Maybe they'll enlist the help of this other company! It might come out soon! It might have these awesome specs that everyone wants, and since nobody wants to pay for them, they might release it at some ridiculously low price as Apple tends to do! All of this might happen at Apple's next big event!
Come on... I'm a big Apple fan too, but baseless speculation on what they might do for products they might make is completely worthless. It's certainly not newsworthy. - sillihkram, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Black Apple" would have been a cooler fit to the name.
- grumpymeerkat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i don't care how "real" the idea is - it's actually exactly what i've wanted, as a longtime blackberry user. plus the native integration between mac and blackberry would be a welcome change.
just throw a decent camera into it and i'm sold. - 16x9, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2> Unicron wrote: "You must be new here. I think I saw an article on the front page a few days ago that was about what Steve Jobs had for breakfast."
It's just not fair when less than 5% of the total PC market can run roughshod over the other 95%.
As I've asked on Digg before when this question has come up, is it possible that there is a larger part of the whole Digg community who are simply interested in the entire computer industry even if they themselves don't own a Macintosh? I don't own our galaxy and yet just a few minutes ago I Dugg a submission on the latest thinking on the possible shape of the galaxy.
Lastly, I know you are kidding about the Job's Breakfast submission but rest assured that I for one would NEVER Digg a story about what Steve Jobs had for breakfast. Actually, the fascination with this guy is, to me anyway, a bit odd. I like Apple's products but even if given the opportunity I'd never want to work at Apple (I've read that Mr. Job's is a bit of an insensitive jerk). - cliffzdude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0It appears nobody here uses a Blackberry?
The Blackberry OS isn't Windows CE, and RIM has Blackberrys out now that are WiFi inabled.
Most importantly, what makes Blackberrys such a big deal isn't the device, its the backend. Blackberry Enterprise Server works in conjunction with your company mail server to push out email, appointments, contacts, basically everything you have with your corporate email product. Most use Exchange, and if you've used exchange just imagine most of its functionality working live, on a handheld device.
Funny how many folks don't know that it is the backend server, Blackberry Enterprise Server that has made the Blackberry the Crackberry of its day. - AkiraXXX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Evil Henchman: "But Dr. Jobsenstein, what gives you the right to play God!? What gives you the right to bring your creature, the Newton, back from the dead!?"
Dr. Jobsenstein: "They all mocked me. Well, they won't be laughing for long. Now hand me those electrodes and pull the switch."
Evil Henchman: "You're mad... and I've never loved you more than I do right now..."
Dr. Jobsenstein: "I can't wait to see Bill Gates' face next week at our poker game." - helloitabot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0AppleBerry? I would have muched prefered BlackApple or BlackPod or even Blackintosh or MacBerry...

- safer9999, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Consumer Friendly / Corporate Friendly = possibility
Neal Saferstein - st1gm4, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2I hope this is not true Apple makes really good products. RIM though makes a terrible device and everyone (by everyone I mean clueless business types) think they are the best thing that have ever happened. There are some really good mobile devices out there that have good features that you would expect from an apple type device. Such as Symbian smartphones. Even those have problems...Apple really need to redesign their own product though because most mobile OSes are terrible right now from a development and usability standpoint. The only one I think I have seen good stuff from is Microsoft with their Pocket PC platform and Smartphones. But an apple smartphone...woah that would be awesome. Not BLACKBERRY though!!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+7Jeez. You americans are so lost when it comes to cellphones. Blackberrys are only used by clueless U.S. MBAs who wet themselves when they get an email or two.
- Unicron, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I know that was part of the joke ;) Hope it is the same jcr, normally one of the more sane people on /., digg could use some of them.
- Unicron, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3You must be new here. I think I saw an article on the front page a few days ago that was about what Steve Jobs had for breakfast.
- danglerman, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1sounds like any product apple made named after a fruit...wait, that's everything isn't it?

Hey.. that's what we say at Slashdot.. not Digg..
