...
people use yahoo messenger? - Bots, on 04/07/2009, -0/+17im still thinking that until messenger clients are given push notification, they are all pretty useless.
- xsecretfiles, on 04/07/2009, -3/+16meh! Beejive already supports it
http://www.beejive.com/iphone/ - theculchie1, on 04/07/2009, -1/+12Does fring not do this already along with MSN, google talk and AIM?
- noogiewoo, on 04/07/2009, -1/+11msn next? or is there more chance of snow in hell :(
- 1nhuman, on 04/07/2009, -1/+10I wonder when the www.altavista.com and encarta.msn.com plugins are ready.
- mrdungx, on 04/07/2009, -0/+9Yahoo Messenger still has a giant user base in Asia & South America.
- mikepictor, on 04/07/2009, -1/+9Absolutely no IM app is worth $16.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -0/+8This isn't ebay. No one cares.
- dullnation, on 04/07/2009, -0/+8Might be of use if it supports the msn protocol like the windows client does...
- darkchild82, on 04/07/2009, -1/+7Dude... English.
- 1nhuman, on 04/07/2009, -0/+6Yep
- m3mn0n, on 04/07/2009, -1/+7Fring has had Yahoo and MSN support (as well as Skype & etc) and has been available for a long time now...

- likwidfuzion, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3When June comes around with real push notifications, Beejive will be just any other multi-protocol IM client. For that hefty price tag, it better make me a sammich.
- swmbuk, on 04/07/2009, -1/+4I like the logic around here, because Yahoo was once popular they cannot be popular again, or even try it seems.... I'd rather use Yahoo than Windows Live Messenger for Windows which only allows you to use A/V on windows.

the ultimate recession buster - brundlefly76, on 04/07/2009, -1/+4What always amazes me about the popularity and evolution of internet products is how a seemingly small change can be the tipping point for switching what people are into.
For example - most IM products have a customizable 'status' message, so they have always had a Twitter-like capability - but change the status message from a backseat feature to a primary stack and all of the sudden you have a new product which people use in a much different way.
Twitter in some ways is nothing more or less then an IM product with a surprisingly small feature set. But its that lack of features that actually makes it intriguing.
The other power of Twitter is that there is only one Twitter - for now - which makes interoperability a non-issue. - Philbert, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3Yeah I have AIM, but it's kinda dumb when I have to leave it open all the time.
- mikepictor, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3why are you being dug down. You are 100% correct. Beejive's price tag is absurd considering the completely functional free options out there.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3I had fring just for Skype. The new Skype App is much better.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -2/+4Now we just need yahoo chat for iPhone so I can get porn bot IM's all day!
- thesportoflife, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2Beejive is great but yeah, the price is ridiculous for an IM client!
- jonathan102, on 04/07/2009, -2/+4who uses that anyways?
- jjustin01, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2@MonsterRayn
Pidgin is free and is available on multiple platforms and supports all, but maybe 1, protocol. Not to mention, with it being open source and using plugins, additional features can be added at any time.
I really do not understand the reason people pay for IM clients. The only time I see it making sense is on corporate networks where more than just the IM client is needed. - lindsayl284, on 04/07/2009, -2/+4Beejive = $18.99AUS
Palringo = Free
http://www.palringo.com/en/gb/iphone/ - crashingechelon, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2Yahoo Messenger has been in the app store for a while. It was integrated in yahoos oneconnect app that was basically a social network updater.
- nunlover, on 04/07/2009, -1/+3i used to video chat with girls in foreign countries. they'd be sitting at internet cafes and i tell them to take off their shirts. asians too shy sometimes.
- likwidfuzion, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2I'll wait out for the native Meebo client.
- kkiran, on 04/08/2009, -0/+2No voice chat on Yahoo :( , Skype could do it, you can too Yahoo, gear up ;)
- fabio1, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2maybe yahoo employees?
- digjam, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2but fringe and palringo suck big time..!!
- SquareWheel, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1I used to use Beejive, but then I saw Agile Messenger. It was my favorite app on 1.x, and it's working beautifully on 2.x. The only issue I've seen so far is you can't view by Online/Offline, but hopefully they will add that.
- dragon76, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1Yahoo and MSN have interoperability, so you can add your MSN contacts in Yahoo.
- ofenza, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1I have Yahoo IMAP on my iPhone and it's free.
- wilhoitm, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1Good now maybe they can release a non-beta of the desktop Yahoo Messenger.
- hollismb, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1Yawn. Let me know when I can sync my Yahoo Contacts on my iPhone without syncing with iTunes.
- syntaxgs, on 04/07/2009, -1/+2LOL!!!! AT Platina =D
- Nath5000, on 04/09/2009, -0/+1Remember the "Yahoo Messenger for Vista" beta they had a while back but cancelled? It looks like they've at least found a good use for the graphics and interface from that. Looks nice.
- karladam, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1If you don't sign back in within 10 minutes to messages roll over to SMS or if you don't have SMS set up, they roll back to your desktop client when you log back in.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1surdha: You've got that part right...
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/07/2009, -1/+2Buried for CRAPPLE
- BobTurtle, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1WRONG. Try reading the article next time. For the ADHD crowd, here is the relevant info:
Special idle state: If you have to leave the app for whatever reason, like a call comes in or you click a link in an IM that takes you to Safari, the Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone app will keep you signed in but change your status to idle. That way you can continue to receive messages and provided you return to the app within ten minutes, pick up where you left off. - Zippo, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1For now.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1just in time for the millennium
- xsecretfiles, on 04/07/2009, -3/+4Beejive is way better
http://www.beejive.com/iphone/ - Charlotte_Web, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1Apparently, MS is working on a version of Office for iPhone:
http://www.macrumors.com/2009/04/02/microsoft-stil ...
...so I don't see why Live Messenger would be out of the question. - wiebeezy, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1Beejive allows push email notifications. I fetch my normal email accounts but have a web exchange account that is set up to receive push notifications so when I get an IM outside the Beejive Client, it'll get pushed to the email.
- theculchie1, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1<3 Fring !
