- poipoipoi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30one of the games is Doom, but instead of blasting demons, the player kills non-proprietary music formats.
- Pliep, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Oh come on stop posting ***** rumours with no evidence whatsoever.
- Matrixsjd, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15already been a story about this on the front page, as well as many others already about this same topic floating around here.
- Batiu-Drami, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Remember 'music quiz' AND 'brick' :P
- catoutfit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Apple was looking specifically for graphics programmers with ARM7 RISC Processor (that's the ipods processor) experience...So I can see why they're speculating that it's the iPod, can't you?
- norbiu, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Apple should make it easier for us. Controlling something with that touch-wheel is giving me headaches.
- JonGretar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Yeah that would be nice. Gets rid of you.
Honestly. It's getting dugg. So obviously threre is a will from the masses to have this here. - debian_, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6It would be pretty decent if Apple had maybe 20 short games on the iPod in a style similar to Wario ware, centralized around the iPods existing controls rather then shoehorning known games to fit the scheme. Quick, fun, something to kill at a moments notice. I wouldn't urge anything like Apple trying to tap the true hand held gaming market, but a few extra things such as this, while still making sure to do the music features well, would be neat IMO.
- catoutfit, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7"signed their soul over to a non-disclosure agreement."
for most development jobs you have to sign an NDA, i must have signed about 10... - mc1123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3that is just plain retarded.
- catoutfit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I wish apple would just release an ipod SDK and method of transfering games onto the ipod, then people could create the following
Tetris
an 'actual' quiz.
Columns
Smash TV
some sort of RPG
a soccer management game (ok ok, I'm dreaming here). - thatgirlismine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3jeez, get over it guys. it's obviously iPod gaming.
- leftfoot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"An Apple hiring manager is hiring a fleet of C/C coders with a gaming background"
Lets see...
Fast processer, good video card (for the macbook pro, anyway)
Ok, I'm guessing that Apple want's to get a peice of the gaming industry...
Why would he hire a large team just to design a few games for the iPod? It doesn't make sense. - Jezmo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This is a dupe, but a far better worded one than the previous.
If this is true it is most certainly for portable use. There have been endless rumours of an apple cell phone, and these days companies can't release a cell phone without games in it.
Otherwise, as other's have said, it's probably for the ipod. There isn't much reason for apple to develop their own games for OS X, they don't really target that market. - gagravaar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Playstation 1, Genesis or SNES emulator for iPod video - please, please, PLEASE!
If Apple won't do it, then somebody else please!
I WILL PAY MONEY, SO WILL OTHERS! - se1zure, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Uhh... this isn't news. All I heard was that Apple hired game developers... Who says anything about the ipod? This is one guys crappy attempt to turn apples move into some rumor.
- lava, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5What the *****? Apple makes more stuff than the iPod, it's more likely that this is for macs. Apparently the blog writer doesn't know that.
It'd be awesome if Apple tried to compete with Nintendo... just a random speculation. - shmatt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3just STFU and read something else !!!!!
Its so tiresome to see these, yet you spend 30 minutes hanging around whining about apple rumors.
that make sense? nope - renegade334, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And other music players, iriver, creative etc...
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't know about you guys, but I like my iPod just playing music and maybe playing some tiny, short game I can fiddle with on the bus. I don't want the iPod being turned into the next UMPC.
- liverpoolfc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Doom and quake on the iPod - can't wait ;)
- geekee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why not just sell a general purpose PDA as the next iPod?
- renegade334, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ah! But Apple COULD be creating a pocket pc/mac type device, that would explain the ARM7 RISC Processor
- Ilyanep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why do games necessarily have to be for the iPod? They kind of make computers too, y'know.
- WrecksTXP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So it's going to be a PSP.
- fliped, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I always thought that Apple should sell games through iTunes which you could play on your iPod.
- m85476585, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I saw someone play an FPS on his video Ipod.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No-brainer: Lumines on iPod.
- macslut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Personally, I think this makes a lot of sense.
The "real" video iPod seems likely to come out by the end of the year (total speculation, I know, but it makes sense). It seems likely that it would have a larger screen or full sized screen covering the entire iPod.
This, combined with a good catalog of games, makes the iPod damn compelling as an audio, video and gaming personal system. Add leased EVDO and...and...can't...type....must...jerk off now... - Mongoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1'Cuz we all know how good Apple is when it comes to gaming..
- fr34k5h0w, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yay!
Introducing the iPipPin 2.0. Fast graphics, secure code base, bluetooth wireless controllers, proprietary DRM, and iPod docking capabilities- all in a shiny white box. - masterc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Screw the iPod- I hope they make games for the Macs!
- tekrat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Apple is just building the Pippin ][ based on the iPod architecture.
- palegolas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What would make sense is Apple developing a special API for developing games for their future touchPod or whatever it turns out to be.
Apple wouldn't make the games, but they'd need hot shot game coders in order to develop a great API that would be simple to use to create high quality games / apps for their pod, that could later be bought and downloaded on the iTunes store. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I don't mind apple stories, but only when they actually have something interesting and useful to say. 2/3 of the apple/iPod ones today have been speculation, rumors, or just plain stupid and nothing to do with the product in question. It gets VERY tiresome!
I guess we can always rely on the stupid apple fanboys who will digg anything, no matter how stupid and non-apple, just so long as its got 'apple' or 'ipod' in the title! Honestly, most of them probably don't even read the articles. - PRESS_00, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3"Apple was looking specifically for graphics programmers with ARM7 RISC Processor (that's the ipods processor) experience...So I can see why they're speculating that it's the iPod, can't you?"
Where did you get that information from? If there's no evidence for gaming on an actual iPod, I mod as innaccurate. - rspeed, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Like MP3, AAC, WAV and AIFF?
- h0zae, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2not news --- this is news -- http://www.theiwii.com/
- PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Man, Apple has to take notice of what goes on with the Ipod-Linux people, and hopefully see what their little machines are capable of.
- morphie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The story which make the rumor doesn't tell anything about an ipod. Maybe apple is releasing a console or wants leopard to be a gaming-platform. ipod gaming isn't going to happen.
- Spanca, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Duplicate story, why is this still getting dugg?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Look at their past success with games. They'll more likely make a Phantom-like gaming paltform!
- christianw, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3yeah comon at least read whats on the site ffs first
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5C'mon, this is what, the 6th ***** Apple story on the front page this day alone!!
This is ***** stupid! All but this and 1 other had NO news as such, just content-free trash!
Why not just rename Digg to iDigg and be done with it!

What is Digg?
